I hired Ron to dye some mysterious bleach spots that had suddenly appeared on my wall to wall carpeting. These were peachy-yellow spots, 11 total, some 1.5 inches in diameter; my carpet is a light/medium brown and the hall carpet is blue/gray. Our Plan B, if the dyeing didn't work was to cut out sections and replace with my leftover carpet scraps. It took Ron under two hours and the dyeing results were superb. I used Ron to do a deep cleaning on the Main salon and stateroom of a yacht I live aboard. I had made the mistake of leaving on a plastic protective coating on the carpet. For my project, he had to put down tack strips and padding to repair an area that took on lots of water (it had already been dry for a week), Re-seamed the doorway. We recently installed new hardwood floors and had to have the carpet fixed to transition to the new hardwood. Ron came out, assessed the issue, said what was required then set to work. In under 2 hours he had completed all 5 entries and did an excellent job. He had to remove solid core heavy doors, add some padding and trim the carpet, install some tack strips and then stretch the carpet to remove any wrinkles. The finished job looks great! My tenants had just moved out, I had five days to get the house ready for the incoming tenants and the ivory (I know, not the best color, but the house came with them) carpets in two rooms were spotted with red Hi-C punch stains. Plus, the usually ivory colored stairs were a dishwater gray color. I didn't panic, I called Ron. I met Ron two years ago as a new home owner who didn't know how to get rid of the mystery stains all over the carpets in my new house. After trying to steam them out myself, then using Stanley Steamer to no avail, I finally found Ron through the Berkeley Parent's Network (which has supplied me with some stellar talent over the years). He had come out, arriving on time, and expertly dealt with my stains. He'd lifted several out but had to patch a large area of the living room rug due to the previous owner's over-active Pomeranian and my over-enthusiastic self-cleaning. Seems I'd set the stains with my tactics involving hydrogen peroxide and various solvents. This time around, with dirty carpets, I'd called Chem-Dry, at my aunt's suggestion, and they'd done a decent job getting the run of the mill dirt out of the carpet but thosepunch stains still glared at me after the technician left. In fact, they'd turned bright pink from their original deep red. Yikes. I knew I needed an expert so I called Dave. He came the next day with his equipment and stain solutions (which I have come to call his magic potions). After two hours he had completely erased three of the stains. He did need to patch the last one, but only because the Chem-Dry tech had put so many different kinds of solutions on it trying to remove it that it had set the stain - just as I had with the one two years ago. Ron's patch was perfect (thank goodness I had remnants left over from the original carpet). He then tackled the stairs and forty minutes later, I had a signficantly cleaner, whiter staircase! I have learned my lesson: next time I need any kind of carpet cleaning or stain removal done, I'm calling Ron *first*! BTW, I recommended Ron to a friend who was selling her home and needed her carpets to look "like new" - but couldn't afford to buy new ones with all the other renovations to her home. Ron was here a couple of years ago and promised to dye bleach spots. Within a couple of months, the bleach spots returned. He came back once. When the carpeting was cleaned again, the spots returned. Just recently, I paid him to re-dye the same spots, making sure they were done adequately. Within one day, two of the spots returned. It took him well over a month to return to repair the spots, which he did today, informing me that he could make no guarantees and that was the best he could do. He was brusque and clearly not willing to make sure the work was done completely and to my satisfaction.
