Excellent breakfast, raisin toast too.

Shhhhh, this is a local cafe that is tucked away in plain sight and not being local we found it on Yelp. This is a side enterance type of place where you come in and sign your name on the chalk board (we needed coaching on that step). Lots of food on your plate, served up quick and we enjoyed the reasonably priced breakfast. Omelets are big and fluffy, we loved this place. Service was friendly, locals were friendly and a few stopped by and said hello. A true gem in town, stop and enjoy the charm of the hidden local eatery.

This place is the quintessential little dinner that's been around FOREVER!!!! The walls are covered in nostalgic memories from my childhood and beyond. The food is great and the service is sassy. Coffee is always fresh and they serve you with a smile. Breakfast is my favorite and worth the wait (there's usually a wait for good stuff). If you're looking for a spot where the locals go to grab some good grub look no further.

Great food and the best service we've found in Rapid in years. Ron's is a smaller, neatly decorated cafe that checks all the boxes for us. Chicken-fried steak & eggs and all meat/cheese omelet were our picks today and both are solid offerings. We will be back to Ron's Cafe soon to try more menu items. I have a feeling we will enjoy those too.

Menu, vintage decor

Ron's has a fun vibe featuring vintage decor. Breakfast was solid. The eggs and omelette with bacon and toast that hubby and I had were delish. Lots of bread choices to please your pallet. Our server was friendly, prompt, and served us with a smile. Coffee in a variety of mugs added a nice touch. Stop in for a hardy breakfast to get your day going.

this place is amazing. The food, the friendly service. The best breakfast hands down. Thank you for the hospitality from 2 California natives.

I think this must be a family owned place, because at some point, I saw a 13 year old (ish) boy clearing tables and handing out candy at the tables. We were sitting for quite a while before anyone noticed us and brought menus. But once we did get the attention of our waitress, she was very nice. There's a kids menu with the typical offerings. They mostly have the standard beers and a handful of local offerings. I had the hazy pineapple beer, and it was okay. My husband tried a local IPA, and he liked it. I had the fried shrimp and the housemade potato chips. They make their own chips (good, although unevenly salted) and they come with a delicious french onion dip, just like the stuff I remember from childhood. My husband and I couldn't get enough. The menu is otherwise pretty burger-based, but that's fine for a setting like this. They have a pool table that takes quarters. That kept the kids occupied while the adults were able to watch some of the March Madness fun.

Such a fun, locally owned spot to grab a beer and a burger. Thirsty's is a family-friendly joint…read morewhere you can watch football, play pool, enjoy a cold drink, and grab a bite to eat. I'd argue it's one of the best places in town for a burger--always cooked to perfection, with some unique and creative options on the menu. I highly recommend Thirsty's and always prefer supporting a local business over a food chain.

We started our evening at Sear Steakhouse with some excellent drinks. The thyme mocktail was crisp…read moreand refreshing, and my husband's old-fashioned was fragrant and well-balanced, complete with a perfect bada bing cherry. His only note was a preference for a single large ice cube rather than crushed, but overall the bar clearly knows what it's doing. The appetizers set a great tone. Warm sourdough was fresh and comforting. I enjoyed the bright, crisp house salad, while my husband's pumpkin soup was silky, savory, and perfectly seasonal. We both ordered the 7-ounce filet mignon, and the kitchen truly delivered! His medium-rare was tender and juicy with a beautiful sear, and my medium-well was still succulent--proof of precise cooking. They have an outstanding variety of cool, reasonably priced side dishes. My husband was excited about the Queen's honey carrots which were tender and flavorful (though the honey glaze was very subtle) and the creamy mashed potatoes that are part of the steak dish, were nicely executed. I didn't realize my filet came with mashed potatoes underneath, so I ordered a loaded, baked potato as my side, and ended up with extra potato (which I'm not complaining about whatsoever lol). We also enjoyed the whiskey cream sauce with mushrooms, which added a gentle smoky creamy richness, and the onion soubise, which was pure sweet comfort. Dessert was a highlight, as we celebrated my husband's birthday - we ordered all three featured desserts: The crème brûlée had a perfectly crackled top and smooth vanilla bean custard, the flourless chocolate dessert was deeply rich with espresso notes, and the butter cake was the total star - warm, moist, and decadently buttery. Each dessert was excellent in its own way, but that perfectly sinful butter cake stole the show! The atmosphere was inviting--warm wood tones, comfortable booths, well-balanced lighting, and enough TVs near the bar to keep my sports fan husband happy. Service was friendly and pleasant, though we found ourselves wishing for a bit more attentiveness. With a very quiet dining room, very early in the evening (we had a 4 PM reservation), there were moments when water refills lagged and opportunities for wine suggestions went unoffered (and we were definitely wanting to order some red with our steaks, but gave up because by the time there was an opportunity, we were finished with our steaks). We also briefly looked into the small private dining room on our way through the bar, and while we were greeted politely by one of the employees who was sitting in there, it felt like they missed the perfect opportunity to highlight the space for potential events. That said, nothing detracted significantly from the experience--it was simply a matter of polish. A touch more proactive engagement could elevate an already strong offering into something exceptional. Overall, Sear Steakhouse delivered an enjoyable and memorable evening. The food, drinks, and desserts are clearly strengths, and with just a little added focus on service flow and guest engagement, this restaurant has all the makings of a true standout in Rapid City. We look forward to returning and trying new things!

I'm really torn on this review because I've only been to Sear Steakhouse twice, and the experiences…read morewere completely different. The first visit was for a work event in the back room (not sure if that made a difference), and it was outstanding. The food was cooked to perfection--my steak literally melted in my mouth, and the sides were hot and delicious. I couldn't stop raving about it afterward. The second visit, after talking it up to my family, was a letdown. They were busy, and maybe that played a role, but it just wasn't the same. My steak was mediocre, and my husband was genuinely confused why I had claimed it was one of the best steaks I'd had in a long time. Unfortunately, when it comes to restaurants, the bad tends to outweigh the good. We haven't been back, and I can't justify the price tag when there are other great steak options in town. I know places can have off days, and maybe that's what happened--but I'm not willing to return to find out.
