We were signed, sealed, and delivered to go with Presidential Pools. After 3 bids we knew what we wanted and didn't think we would hear anything different. However Rondo Pools was persistent and really valued a relationship with us compared to just selling and building a pool. Our pool designer was Paul and he was understanding and patience with for what we wanted during the design process. We really appreciate the advice, responsiveness to questions, add-ons to the pool, and eagerness to design what we wanted and get it done. We felt really comfortable through this process. After finalization and submission of the pool designed, our file transition into the hands of the office team. We found the team to be really attentive and professional with project management and communication. Through the efforts of Sandra, Leah, Cadie, and Terri, I knew when construction was going to start, if there were going to be delays, what to expect, when payments were due, next stages of construction, and who to contact if I have questions. The team stayed in regular contact by phone and email. The office team then handed my file over to the construction team. The construction manager we had was Ron. Ron came out regularly to inspect the construction of the activities and had contractors in and out the yard to adjust or complete work. Ron also gave provided insight on the pool and was able to manage things to get the pool completed within 3 months. We have never owned a pool before and after looking at the equipment we felt a bit overwhelmed. However, Bill came out for orientation and answered our questions, guided us through the maintenance and set up of the pool. We feel really good about being able to call up stay in contact with the people we met from Rondo Pools. I would highly recommend them for a great experience. We had Rondo Pools build a pool a few years ago and had nothing but problems with them. The design guy was awesome and is what convinced us to go with Rondo vs the other pool builders we met with. However that's where the awesomeness stopped and the nightmare began. The construction team was an absolute pain in the butt to work with. They somehow managed to screw something up every step of the way. They poured our pool decking completely different then the blue print showed and then had to grind it down. They installed the electrical differently then was planned during the design phase. Then they put the plumbing in incorrectly and made the Baja shelf several feet smaller then it was on the print. They ran over the brick pavers in the driveway with the bobcat. Less then a year later the pool deck was cracking and coming apart. The level of craftsmanship with this company's subcontractors is severely lacking. I felt like I had to baby sit the project manager every step of they way and hold his hand because the quality control was so lacking. The communication between the construction team and us was horrible. The construction manager was an absolute jerk and actually yelled at me on the phone. Overall building the pool was an extremely unpleasant experience and I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. read more

I called almost a week ago inquiring information regarding having a pool put in my back yard. I spoke with Adam Cresswell and he was very informative about the process and friendly. He went over pricing and told me he would get me in contact with their financial specialist Julie Fletcher to find out a price limit and then go from there on designing my dream pool. THE GOOD: Our pool was finished at the end of September 2015 and it is exactly as envisioned. We LOVE looking at it, although we haven't got to actually swim in it yet since by time it was done it was too cold and still isn't warm enough. The final price we paid was the price quoted. Our sales guy Bryan Clarkson was great to work with and the saving grace of the company. He really listened to our ideas and made them reality. The pool so far has been incredibly easy to take care of and we have had no issues with equipment. THE BAD: Communication wasn't the best. Specifically between Rondo and some of their contractors. The decking installers they hired did a terrible job and had to redo much of the work. We had to bring the errors to Rondo's attention and really felt they should have noticed the mistakes first. The finish we chose (ultra-poz) mottled much more than they led us to believe. I love the smooth feel though so it's a tradeoff with the pebble surfaces. THE DOWNRIGHT HORRIBLE: We were told it would take about 8-12 weeks from signing the contract until swimming. It ended up taking five MONTHS. I think they just took on more projects than they could handle and weren't able to stay on top of them. I wanted to write this review now as it was around this time last year we were starting the design phase with them and thinking we would be swimming by the fourth of July. Had I written this review in August I would have given them one star. But now that everything is said and done and the end result was fabulous I'm giving a solid three stars. Just go into the project knowing that everything will take at least twice as long as what they say and you won't be disappointed. read more

We recently purchased a pool from Rondo. We looked at a few companies and were the most impressed with Rondo and designer Raphy Avakian. He really impressed us with his design and presentation. The build went smoothly even with all the rain we received in the area. They even were able to workaround the landscaping work that was being done in the backyard. Danielle, our customer service representative, was always quick to respond to any question we had. We have a house in a new housing development and the new home counselor has even sent prospective buyers over to look at our new pool. We had our pool built over a year ago. Ours was not the simplest of designs being that we live on a hillside. However, Rondo's team nailed a design that met all of our requirements. As far as the design and construction of the pool, I can easily give five stars. All of the pool subcontractors were neat and professional, and showed up when we expected them, and left our site clean. Rondo's team, notably Dave and Bob as job super and Danielle in the office, kept us in the loop with what was going on and when the next phases would occur. Our only mishaps involved the landscaping subcontractor's masonry crews. They built an unsquare corner first requiring a complete reboot, then built retaining walls at the wrong height and had to remove a couple of courses of block, and finally did some shoddy stucco work necessitating several return visits during which the crew got cement/stucco all over our new paver deck. On top of all this, they made a mess of the rest of our yard by not being careful when mixing their cement and not cleaning up very well. They even left a bunch of bags of cement on top of our pavers that got wet in a rainstorm and landed on my driveway. I have been told that this particular crew no longer works on Rondo projects or even with the subcontractor. Frustrating to say the least. I would deduct a star for the time and aggravation this crew cost everybody, but after a couple of inquiries, company owner Kevin and his team came on site to inspect my claims. To my satisfaction, they agreed to replace the stained decking and do final repairs on some remaining stucco issues. In the several months since this was all resolved, we had a warranty claim that was very quickly addressed, and can happily report that everything is fantastic with our pool. Rondo is not the least expensive option, but they have been in business for a very long time. The second generation of family leadership cares about their reputation as well as the founder did, and stands behind their work and that of the subcontractors they use. This was a primary reason that we chose them for our pool, and fortunately or unfortunately, we got to experience this first hand. I have no hesitation in recommending Rondo for your pool. If I were to build another pool, they would certainly remain my choice. read more

We are in process of pool installation things are going very slowly and a mistake in layout is creating further delays ... i am as patient as people come but this large gap in time is truly draining our family- also change due to a incorrect communication between super and design has created a cost overage that made us delete a bbq which fit into our original budget -so still waiting in Phoenix...........disappointing so far 1 week later ... still waiting.... Next Monday the 17th will be Ninth week of starring at my deserted back yard so promise was made to see a team for Monday Tuesday Wednesday- will update as it occurs. I had a pool built by Rondo Pool & Spas in 2014. The contract was completed, but it took four months after signing the contract. The biggest problem was communication; they would tell us something would happen one week and it would not happen until later. There was always an excuse, but the truth is that the company had more work than they could handle in a timely manner. As far as pool building went. I have my pool and am satisfied with it. I do not know that they are any different than other pool companies as all the work is subcontracted--and the same contractors are used by many pool building companies. There were a number of items which raised the price above the original contract: hard dig, concrete overage charge, etc. These charges are spelled out in the contract, so I expected them, but it could be a surprise if someone is not careful. Anyway when building a pool one out to keep in mind that the quoted price is for the best case scenario only. The pool itself looks good and everything works as intended. When I think of the number of things that could have gone wrong that went right, I have to give the company credit for knowing what they are doing. The quality of work is pretty good--with two minor issues. (1)The pebble finish should have been sanded better to make it smooth. I discovered this after I started using the pool and had to hand sand a few spots that were too rough and caused blisters on the toes of my children. (2) There are a few scattered places where the sides and floor have indents where the trowel workers did not make everything perfectly even. I did not like the sales pressure. Other pool companies will bring pool plans to your house to go over. Rondos policy is (or at least was) that customers go into the office to see the drawings of the prospective pool. Pool start-up: One might be wary of the time and speed settings for the pump that are programmed by their start-up person. I had to scale the run-time and run-speed way back to save energy. The original settings had the pool water being turned over 2.5 times per day which is really excessive for a private pool. They could really save their customers a lot of money on their electric bills with a bit more care when programming the pump. Follow up support was good. One of the in-floor cleaning heads was not working properly, but they corrected this quickly after being notified. read more

We did a remodeling of an existing pool. Everything in the process was painful. The salesperson did not seem competent and did not seem to understand what we wanted, even when we showed him examples. He also took a week to answer every single question and any change to the original quote took forever. We started talking to them in June and had a final quote in September. At that point we paid a considerable amount up front. They did not start working until November. They finished the work in February. They were ineffectively responsive, meaning that there was always somebody answering our phone calls or email, but that somebody had no real answers or had incorrect answers. Their people are very friendly and kind but are clueless. It was like hitting a rubber wall. Nothing we said really mattered - they just kept being polite and friendly and ignoring everything. They don't seem aware of what their subs do. They wanted everything 100% paid before the pebblesheen went it. There were some corrections left to do at the end and it took them a month to finish them. They also badmouthed my neighbors who were also building their pool with them. read more

Regarding Rondo Pool Renovations... We had our Rondo Pool built as part of new construction build in 1996 with pebbletec and rolled bond beam; none of which is suggested today. We did a bake off and what tipped us was the fact that we already have a Rondo Pool and were told that the shell would not be covered if we went with a different vendor. What we did not like about the competitor's bid was that they were going to eliminate the main pool drain. We worked with Dave Furman throughout the project and he was wonderful. When we had issues with the hot tub due to concrete in the lines, Dave came back and provided a workable suggestion that worked wonderfully. Owning a pool is not a turn-it-on-and-forget proposition; you learn to troubleshoot issues. Having Dave available to bounce off questions is a nice ace-up-the-sleeve since most pool supply places have people that do not own a pool. This company understands customer service. read more

Do not go with Rondo! Worst mistake we made, don't fall for their, "we only do this many pools a year" blah, blah". Signed on March of 2021, excavation didn't happen until September of 2021, pool was not completed until May of 2022 and now in August we are still trying to get them to complete the punch list (things that need adjusting). Workmanship was awful, we literally had to baby sit every trade because no one either knew what they were doing or were not going by the plan. Not even the so called last supervisor showed up with a plan in his hand. We had 3 different supervisors, the last being the worst with a chip on his shoulder every time we spoke, dismissing every concern we had. Communication from Rondo is zip! If you are into calling and being on the phone all day with the pool company to get some progress on your pool then this is the company for you. The only time, without fail that Rondo will contact you is when your payment is due. Rondo has been such a headache to work with, a time eating company that we had to be babysit at every turn. Calling Kevin Rondo, the owner to complain was useless. We, unknowingly of the way Rondo would turn out to be, recommended our brother in law to Rondo, he signed on for a pool also. Rondo has a $200 referral bonus they are supposed to send to the referring party at the time of excavation. Pool has been excavated for our brother in law and they will not honor their on referral program, stating we were not mentioned at the time of signing, not true. This is another example of Rondo's unprofessionalism and ethical conduct. A year ago we bought a new home which had a Rondo Pool installed. We have been happy with the pool but, as with any complicated system, there have been some languishing issues. This review applauds a recent service experience. Rondo recently created a "Customer Care" position. Justin Wright (Customer Care Technician) came to the house to deal with these older service issues. We had a horrible experience unfortunately, and would never recommend Rondo Pools to anyone. We signed a contract with Rondo in Nov. 2020. We live on a hillside property, and chose Rondo for our project knowing that they had a lot of experience with building pools on hillside homes. Knowing that our project was not a simple "cut and dry" project, especially during a pandemic, we expected it to take a long time. Our one star review today can not be blamed on the pandemic, nor the lack of workers, lack of materials, etc. Our main issue with Rondo was their lack of communication, and terrible work ethic among the employees we dealt with. While signing the contract, we asked our sales rep (Kyle Greenhalgh) if we should be aware of any additional expenses that were not disclosed on the contract. Kyle mentioned that we may have to repair pavers on our pavered driveway from the weight of their equipment, but there was nothing additional. This brings us to applying for the permit. The City was requiring us to complete a Revegetation Plan, a Building and Drainage Plan, and a soil test, (all of this was never disclosed by Rondo - and added up to over $20,000 in additional expenses). This was all required due to building hillside. Being that Rondo has experience with hillside pools, why weren't these additional building details disclosed during our many meetings beforehand? Either way, we agreed to take on these additional reports/expenses, and continued on with the process. We paid for a Survey first ($2000), then the next step was paying for the soil test. We were told to forward the results of the soil test to Rondo so they could provide an updated estimate to build the pool, based on the info that the soil engineers provided. I asked Kyle "with building materials going up so much because of the pandemic, how are we going to keep the price in line with what was originally quoted to us?" His response was that the price should end up being apples to apples, because of the changes the City required. We were hopeful to hear this, and proceeded with ordering and paying for a soil test (another $2000).. Once the soil report came in, we forwarded it to Rondo to await our revised estimate. We checked in at the one week mark, 2 week mark, and 3 week mark. Kyle advised that his manager was still looking into things and would get back to me with a price. I must mention that these updates never came forthcomingly. We had to call them for updates every single time, not vice versa. Every time we reached out to Rondo, it would take 3, 4, 5 calls before we would get a call back. You can't blame the pandemic on your work ethic. Simple customer service skills is all that's needed to return a simple phone call to keep customers updated. If you don't have an update, reach out and tell the customer that you are still working on things. No response to a customer, especially when spending the extreme amount of money this project was costing us, is absolutely unacceptable. Finally, after almost a month of waiting for an updated revised estimate from Rondo, we received a phone call from the owner, Kevin Rondeau. He advised that due to lack of laborers, & cost of materials going up, that they were cancelling our contract and wanted to refer us to another pool contractor. We were shocked and appalled. It would have been nice to have been dropped prior to spending the additional $2000 we just spent for the soil test. This was an absolutely unprofessional and unethical business practice to do to a customer. Rondo did give us a full refund of our deposit, but we are out $4000 for out of pocket expenses and have nothing to show for it. As small business owners, we are not made of money, and would have appreciated knowing all of these additional details and costs upfront, prior to signing a contract. Please beware, their contract states that they can cancel your contract unilaterally at any time. We will never get the time or money back that we wasted on Rondo. We are highly disappointed, and would absolutely never recommend Rondo Pools to anyone. read more

I contacted Rondo pools to work on a renovation project for my pool and backyard. To say my pool was stuck in the 1980's was an understatement, and the plaster was in dire need of replacing as my kids would constantly complain about cut feet when they finished swimming After the initial consultation, I was blown away by the attention to detail from the representatives who gave me ideas on how to give the pool a really expensive look but keep within the budget (planter waterfalls are an absolute MUST btw) . They didn't try to upsell me on any of the usual pricey features like some of the other pool companies did. Of the 4 bids I got, 3 of the companies were quite pushy with features I wasn't interested in. It was like buying a car, but with Rondo I had zero issues. I explained what I wanted and they only made suggestions that would enhance the look without increasing the budget. After agreeing the budget and approving the job I was given a schedule of work and told when to expect the workers at my home. I didn't have to call the main office to chase up where the workers were and after a day working they made sure to tidy the yard so it was kept relatively clean and safe for my dog and kids. Rondo made sure to communicate any delays clearly (the only one was a delay in the tile which was not Rondos fault, but the supplier in CA had oversold.) My wife and I were absolutely blown away with the finished product. My pool now looks like a high end pool and my kids and family love swimming here. My brother in law even asked to use our backyard for his daughters birthday party. I would not hesitate in recommending Rondo pools for either your new pool or like me, renovating a tired 1980's pool into a stunning modern looking one. Honest salespeople alongside organized and clean workers is exactly what you want when taking on a huge project like this. read more

We just completed our pool with Rondo (total time from dig to finish was just over 8 weeks!) we worked with Jay and he helped design our dream pool and did great working within our budget and getting all the things we wanted in there! He also made sure to check in during the whole process to see how things were going which was nice! We've had so many compliments on our pool and it's only been up and running for a little over a week. There were some catch ups with timing of jobs/projects but we had good communication between front desk Leah and our project manager Cheney. One small hiccup with the tile selection and we got a personal call from Kevin, the owner and got things squared away! My wife and I interviewed 6 pool companies before we selected Rondo. In each case, the representatives wanted to design our pool on the spot, in our home, on their computers and that added a lot of pressure to the sales experience. Our Rondo rep, on the other hand, asked us lots & lots of questions about how we would use our pool and what design features were important to us. He offered us options to save money and was careful to walk us through the pluses and minuses of each option. We walked the property and talked a lot. After taking careful notes and extensive measurements, he asked us to give him a few days to create a design. We we met him several days later and his 3D and aerial video designs blew us away! It was more than 90% of what we were looking for and he helped us stay on budget. He really "heard" our needs and desires. The entire process, including permitting and building, was very organized and we were kept abreast of all the next steps. Our only disappointment was a very expensive "hard dig" which we knew was a possibility based on other hard digs in our neighborhood. This added to the cost of the project but was, in no way, Rondo's fault. They, and all the other pool companies, warned us in advance of this possibility and there is no way to estimate the additional cost until the dig began. Communication is so important and Rondo kept us in the loop regularly. They even accommodated our schedule by stopping work (our request) & rearranging their subs while we were on vacation. I was initially impressed with the pools on site as they have a design similar to what I envisioned. I set an appointment with Dave Furman. After a detailed walk around the pool, Dave told me that it would take 2 weeks to get a proposal delivered. After 2 weeks, nothing. Giving the benefit of the doubt, I called him after 2 1/2 weeks and he didn't call back. I called the front desk after 2 months, and was told by the helpful sounding woman who answered that she would personally call me back (even gave me a 2 day window for the call) if Dave would not. I felt better, maybe I just fell through the cracks. Despite my optimism, that failed also. I expected courtesy and honesty. Now that I see a pattern in the employees, I feel lied to. I can't imagine living through a build project this way. If the responsible person is too busy, lost his notes, or needed to re-visit the site, I would expect a phone call. I still suspect that they have a quality work product, hence the 2 stars instead of 1, but lack of responsiveness and sincerity in a contractor would make for a difficult building process. read more

We received four bids from well known pool builders, including Rondo Pools. We and two of our neighbors decided on Rondo based on design, reputation and price. Ours was the smallest project of the three but we were treated extremely well. Our pool was completed within the estimated time frame at very close to the expected cost. Our pool turned out better than we hoped and we've received nothing but positive comments from all who have seen it. Kudos to our designer, Bryan and our pool supervisor, Bob. We just completed our pool remodel with Dave Furman at Rondo Pools. I got estimates from 5 major pool builders in the valley before deciding on Rondo. We love our new pool! This was an average dollar project at $15k but we never felt our small job was less important than a big high dollar one. More importantly the process was the easiest remodel project (new kitchen, floors, & doors in a year) I've done to date on our home. I'm sure this is thanks to Dave and keeping the project on track. This is our seasonal home and I was concerned about monitoring this project from Chicago but it turned out quite easy to accomplish with Dave in constant contact with me and updates. We didn't actually use Rondo to build our pool! We're under contract with Shasta and nothing was happening. We were really frustrated and didn't know what to do. Someone told me about Rondo, so we decided to stop and talk to them. Joe sat with us for a while, listened to all the specifics and gave us some very honest insight. We decided to wait it out with Shasta, but he explained a lot about the process and told us how to light a fire under them. If I ever have anything pool related again or anyone ever asks me for a recommendation, I will go with these guys 100%. read more

So far things have been Fantastic and Both of our sales reps have been great to work with. We got a second due to the other one leaving. Rondo has been wonderful to work with. I see previous reviews say poor communication. I will say they've been great with us in communicating. We are still in the design/secured contract phase, but are looking forward to the finished product sometime in January. Will write another review then with pictures. read more

109 days and still looks like 2 more weeks of work on this pool, that is if they keep to their own schedule. I am amazed that Kevin Rondo blames the monsoon and the heat being the reason for the delay. SIr this is Arizona this is why we moved here from Chicago because of the weather. If you want to talk about rain I've seen continuous rain for 2 weeks, before I wrote my first review we've had 2 rains in June that means you had 88 days of no rain to delay you. The heat? of course it is hot here in AZ, that's why we wanted a pool for the summer but too late for that now since this pool is not gonna get done 'til winter. Maybe the solution is, start work when the sun is not high up the sky like 7 or 8am maybe? But since we are always at the bottom of your list on your work to be done your workers get here at 10 am. There were a group who came at 11 am and got pulled out to finish another job. I left for 12 days vacation and came back with some work done but after 1 week of being home I did not see anyone to finish this pool, for 7 days no work got done. If you are proud at the work you did, hello this work should not have taken 109 days. I chose your company because the seller said that Cameo pools got a lot of complaints not getting the job done. What can you say about my pool now. It is getting done really slow . What I am waiting for is not excuses about why my pool is not done. WHat I want to hear is you got more projects to do than you can handle. I know it is not my business how you do your business but it is my business to tell you how frustrating to work with your company. You talk about 'timeline', you don't honor your own "Timeline". I know your focus is selling more pools, maybe you should also focus on finishing pools. It has been 109 days I do not need an insincere apology you owe me a pool. Get this done!! read more

After reading some of the negative reviews about Rondo Pools, I have to say I am shocked. We had a Rondo pool put in about 2 years ago, and our experience was nothing short of fantastic, and the complete opposite of some of the reviews presented here. From beginning to end, everything Rondo explained to us is what happened. They outlined the process (verbally, as well as giving us a booklet that summarized the entire process), told us how long it would take, and what to expect. The workers showed up on time, did a quality job, and completed the pool faster than our original quoted completion date. It was explained to us thoroughly that our existing landscape would have to be replaced, but even so, the Rondo workers took great care in saving a tree that was right in their path. The machinery they use to build a pool is huge, and it is very difficult to salvage any plants in the way, but they somehow managed to do it. Once the job was complete, they cleaned up everything - there was no trace that they had been there, except for the beautiful, sparkling pool! Any time we had a concern, our calls were returned, and our concerns were addressed. It has been 2 years now, and my husband and I were just commenting the other day on how everything Rondo told us turned out to be true (how often does that happen?), and how happy we are with our pool. It is like living in a resort every day! We haven't had any problems with our pool, and we would absolutely recommend Rondo Pools without hesitation to anyone considering a pool. We had Rondo pools build our pool back in 2007. They built a showstopper pool and exceeded our expectations. Since then we have referred them out to friends and clients. Everyone was extremely happy with the level of professionalism and follow through on each job. I would highly recommend them as they stand behind their work from start to finish. Buyer beware. In the showroom, there are pebblesheen samples that includes glass beads. They are NOT included and our sales person did not mention this nor was it gone over on the material selection sheet. To my surprise, 6 months later when the pebblesheen was installed NO BEADS. This is a misrepresentation to say the least. The owner, Kevin tried to make it right however his offer was an insult and did not match the disappointment that could not be undone. My contract said I could request mediation to settle this misrepresentation and the owner, Kevin, refused it. Yes, refused what the contract stated. I tried to contact him legally and filed a complaint with the ROC. No reply with an appropriate offer to make this right. So now I tell this story to everyone who is looking to buy a pool. The staff at Rondo were top notch, Ron, Cadie, Leah and Kyle - they made the pool build process easy, they were patient and transparent. I feel sad and frustrated it had to end this way. It didn't have to, I tried to be understood. Kevin don't bother replying and spin this to make you look good. You had many opportunities to make this blatant misrepresentation right. read more

Rondo sales rep who came to our home for initial site visit had not been good about responding to email, or calling us back when promised to do so. After yelping 1 star and getting over our initial frustration, we decided to give them a second chance, but steer clear of the sales rep originally assigned to us. What started out very badly approximately 2 weeks ago, has taken a turn for the better. We wanted to visit their showroom and just take a "see what happens approach." After telling the first Rondo employee we met what we'd experienced, it took less than 2 minutes before the sales manager (I believe it was Steve) had approached us and apologized personally. Steve quickly had us talking to a very sharp individual by the name of Joseph who had no pending appointments and was happy and eager to take our info and began working with us immediately. Joseph was genuinely interested in our project and enjoyed educating us about pools/equipment, designs the construction process. Another site visit has been rescheduled, with a design review and quote to follow by Joseph. I will continue to update and rate as needed. Good job earning a couple stars for Rondo Joseph! read more
