First time wine taster here at Ron Yates's. I'm in love with the Cab Sauv. The atmosphere is welcoming, personable and laid back.. I never felt rushed or ignored. Barry picked the wines and he was spot on for my palette. Daniel and Zach came by picked up a conversation like we're old friends. Out of all the wineries, Ron Yates is across the board best winery in town. Excellent Hospitality with a home like feel. Wines that danced all over my taste buds. I purchased a few bottles and I will definitely be back to purchase more later. I'm jonesing to come back have a glass and hang out with Barry, Daniel, Zach and get to know the rest of the staff. Excellent work Barry! You and your staff take Ron Yates from ordinary to spectacular. read more

Had a great time here with my girlfriend over the weekend to celebrate our anniversary. Not all of the wines were our thing but we did end up leaving with 2 bottles of wine we loved. The best part of the winery was the service provided by Wacy(hope I spelled his name right). He was a lot of fun and knew a lot of great details about the winery and the wine itself. Highly recommend a stop in if you're in the area! read more

A bit of a surprise to us as we read that this was a new winery and then drove into a very well-finished winery and tasting room. We later discovered the winery was custom designed by the winemaker and the tasting room had only been completed for a few months. Even though the decor reeked of potential snobbery, we were glad to find good ol' Texas hospitality when we walked in. Our server explained the relationship between this winery and Spicewood. We were happy to learn that the quality of Spicewood followed Mr. Yates to his namesake winery from Spicewood as we enjoyed many of the wines we tasted. Our server was also very pleasant as we traded stories about each other's adventures in different parts of the world for wine tasting. Overall an extremely good tasting of very good wines and a relaxing conversation. One thing of note: RY Winery is upfront about not all of their wines are from Texas grapes. We purchased 2 wines with California grapes and another using Washington vines. I personally don't have a problem with this as long as they are honest. read more

My first taste of Texas wines and these were fantastic. I don't usually buy bottles after tastings, but I left with three. Will definitely return on a future trip! read more

One of the best tasting experiences we had in our time in Hill Country. Personalized service. Let the tasting host pick your wines, you won't be disappointed! read more

We had a Ron Yates pick up party today. 3 bottles of red that are perfect for the Thanksgiving/ Christmas season. We started with the Newsom Sangiovese, which has just enough spice to bring the taste forward on the tongue but had a nice smooth finish. Second was the Mourvèdre. I just love this wine. Lots of raspberries on the tongue and a little bit of floral notes on the nose. Well rounded and balanced for an easy drink for any occasion. Perfect gift for family members. Last up was the Tempernillo. You can never go wrong with a Texas Tempernillo and this one was no exception. Aged to perfection for 18 months it offers soft tannins and a herby berry finish, perfect alone or paired with a hearty meal. Overall a great experience. If you haven't tired Ron Yates Vineyards yet, it is definitely worth a stop. read more

Their wines are outstanding! Drove up from Fredericksburg from a long weekend. Pleasantly surprised on their selection of red wines. Their cab, Pinot, and GSM were my favorite - although all their reds were great. read more

This is a nice, chill winery with knowledgeable people. Gabrielle was amazing! Loved this place.

We had such a great experience with Bill. He was so knowledgeable and paired each wine with an interesting story. I even loved that he finished our wine tasting experience with a lagniappe (had no idea what that was but love the word now). I was really in love with all of their rose and red wines and can't wait to go back when we are not on the wine trail so we can pick our tasting. It is also a beautiful space to sit outside when the weather is cool! read more

As of this writing, Yates still did not have their tasting room finished, but that doesn't mean you can't go and still taste some of their wines. The tasting we had was very personable, and they had some good wines for us to sample. It was well worth going here for the first time. I will be back. read more

On our first and recent trip to Fredericksburg we were directed to this winery. It was a slow rainy day and Barry was behind the tasting bar. He was absolutely hysterical and walked us through these great wines and told us about the future plans of the winery. A long time wine industry veteran I'm certain the wines as good as they are will only continue to get better. They had a sparkling rose that I literally wanted to guzzle but decided to keep it classy. Great fun spot with beautiful patio so check it out y'all! read more

Michelle is AWESOME! Me and my Husband came here and were pleasantly surprised By how friendly and laid back the atmosphere was. Michelle took her time to explain about the winery and the different wines as well as taking our taste into consideration. My husband is not a big wine drinker, but even he found something he liked. We ended up buying several bottles when we had originally just come to do a tasting. The knowledge without being pretentious was by far the best customer Service we received the whole time we were in Fredericksburg. Do yourself a favor and take a short drive to check this place out. Hopefully we can come back again when the weather is warmer and the vines are growing. read more

Great quality wine with a beautiful atmosphere. Reds are bold and delicious. Tasting room and staff pleasant. I definitely would recommend here over a place like Grape Creek. The quality is on the higher end for 290 wines and a bit on the stuffier side for wineries, but worth the trip!! read more

GREAT Winetasting Experience. Our pourer Daniel was friendly, interesting, and informative. The reds we tasted were delicious including the estate (homegrown) sangiovese, tempranillo, and cabernet sauvignon. Also impressive was their bottling of pinot noir and zinfandel from California vines. Make this your first stop on the Texas Hill Country Wine Trail. Terry A. read more

Beautiful day out in hill country. I chose Ron Yates Wines because 1. it was explicitly dog friendly and 2. had really nice reviews. I do not regret it. The property is beautiful, the tasting room is open air, we had awesome service. We shared cheese and crackers (available on site) and the dogs got their pictures taken in the wildflowers that cover the property. The wine was also quite good. read more

Awesome wine and an amazing band on Saturday! Easy for big groups to get a table. Highly recommend!

Great wine! Always a pleasant visit. A must stop for us ever time we come to the Hill Country

This is our favorite winery on the 290 corridor. We have been members since day 1 of their membership offering. The tasting room patio is the best in the area to hang out at and the wine is very close to the best in our opinion. Great place to hang out, try a wide variety of wines that are all excellent, and bring your dog to enjoy an afternoon. read more

We tried the Ron Yates Winery today for the very first time. The wine was great, well blended and smooth. The location was clean and very well maintained. Atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming but best of all was the hospitality we received from Dan. He not only informed us of the history of the winery but he gave us first class treatment. We will definitely return to this winery every time we go back to Fredericksburg. It will be just like visiting a dear friend. read more

Today, my family and I went on an exploration of vineyards, and this one has to be the best one by far. When we first pulled up in the driveway, we could clearly see the beautiful Concord grapes and the lot is nothing short of marvelous. Plus, Dan is so fun and spirited! I recommend you visit this vineyard first if or when you ever go vineyard hunting! read more

The service is EXCELLENT. The wine is too. As I true wine lover, I recommend this winery if you are ever in the Fredricksburg TX area. I have visited at least 40 wineries in the area, and their service is the BEST!! Jim, Gabby, Michelle, and Ron (the owner) are freaking awesome!!! read more

Ron Yates - Wineries Near Me - Hye, Texas

We've visited several wineries from Texas to California and truly believe Ron Yates Winery is one of the best. The atmosphere is fun and engaging while the hosts are warm and genuine. Ron Yates wines are well-crafted and quite appealing. We purchased several. We visited around noon, spent a good 90 minutes here very much enjoying our time. We left to go visit other wineries but towards the end of the day returned to Ron Yates because of the personalized customer service that we received earlier. By far, this place provides the friendliest experience out of all the neighboring wineries. Definitely visit here and check them out for yourself! Ask for Bill or Dan... you'll certainly enjoy your time at Ron Yates Winery. read more

Very nice example of the use of vitarels from the high plains in their offerings. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about their wines. The scene is nice and seems to have a very strong following. Highly recommend read more

Barry was incredible. Not pushy. Listened. Matched wines to us. No pressure. Easy going. Our second time. Will go back. Great afternoon after bottling at Garrison Brothers. And the wines were very good. read more

The wines here are fantastic! It's a nice place to sit out on the patio under the huge ceiling fans and enjoy a nice bottle of wine while listening to relaxing music. They even have fresh water bowls out for our tour legged companions. This place rocks! read more

Came by this winery for my birthday and stood there waiting for 10 minutes, then 2 couples walked in & the woman behind the counter started tastings for them as they pushed us out of the way. Beautiful! We walked up to a huge welcome by Michael who offered us 4 tastings. 90% of their grapes are from Texas with only 2 bottles from Sonoma and one from Walla Walla. They a great parking lot to accommodate many cars and a beautiful pavilion with a flagstone patio. They had a relaxing band that wasn't to loud and very entertaining. We can't wait to go back. read more

The place is a hidden gem. This is a MUST stop on every trip. The staff is so welcoming and down to earth and the wine is AMAZING!

Took a trip to fredricksburg this past weekend and tried multiple different wine tastings. On our way back to Dallas we stopped and asked locals what the best winery's were and they recommended Ron Yates, it was a Monday so we didn't know if they would be open or willing to give a tasting to just the two of us. We went in and Michelle was so friendly and welcoming. She was very knowledgeable about all the different wines that we tasted. Overall it was a great expiernece and we will definitely be back in the near future! read more

Just a quick note of thanks to Ron Yates for a wonderful tasting experience late Saturday evening. Our party walked into a bustling wine room ahead of our reservation time. We were directed to an open table and we awaited the start of our experience. A unassuming man in shorts and flip-flops walked into the room, and was pointed in our direction by tasting room staff. "Hi, I'm Ron" is how we began... then he said, "I just do what they tell me to do so I'll be your guide, let me get you started". The detective in me immediately Googled Ron Yates images and as he went to fetch our first tasting, I show the image to my party and said "is this 'the guy'?" As Ron returned I asked "are you Ron Yates?" It was and for the next hour and a half Ron shared his story, the vision of the wines being produced, the people working at Yates to create such wonderful product and shared some of the upcoming inventions and partnership activities planned. I'm not a big Tempranillo fan, but found the Yates product to be excellent. In fact we zeroed in on the Friesen vineyard wines on the recommendation of a trusted winemaker competitor; absolutely delicious. Ron pushed us to try additional varietals and we very much enjoyed all we tried. Thank you Ron for sharing your afternoon with us. David S. read more

Esposa and I came here with two other couples. Our friends are well-informed wine-o's, one of whom speaks very highly of Ron Yates as an up-and-coming winery. Okay, we're in. Facility is quite nice. On a quiet and very hot Texas Saturday, there were two musicians sitting outside playing acoustic guitar. It was obviously too hot for all but one couple who sat out there to listen. Maybe in the fall, but not now. Not for us. We headed inside. The menu features a fairly extensive choice of whites, rosés, and reds. Our wine-o friend says their strength lies in the latter, so we opted for the red tasting. Overall, they were not impressive. Not to us. The Pinot Noir is sourced from a vineyard used by Merry Edwards (a topnotch Sonoma winery): not even close. The Zinfandel was similarly sourced from a famed vineyard in California: thin, light, and not at all reminiscent of the fruity, thick, leathery Zins we enjoy. Compared to several of the other high-end wineries on the local wine trail, it appears (to us) that Yates is spread too thinly and should perhaps focus on a narrower spectrum of varietals. May go back to give them a second chance. read more

Whoa! What wonderful wines! Loved especially the Tempranillo, merlot and both Zinfandels! Have been here twice in the last couple of days and just had to join their wine club. Daniel and Barry were awesome and we loved meeting Zach (gig em!) too!!! read more

We went to Ron Yates a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed tasting their wines. The server did a good job. We had a reservation and were at a table inside. What a great experience with wine. Bill was the best host and really knew a lot about wine. The wine maker, Todd, has a nose and palate for the art of vino. Loved ALL the reds, rosé blend, and the viognier. It must be the reason I joined their wine club. read more

Beautiful new winery only open for about a month on the 290. Tastings are by appointment, but their phone number is nowhere to be found - except on their sign so adding it here (512 - 585 - 3972). I dropped in on a Sunday without an appointment and Dave was so kind to fit me in. They do the tastings outside on their covered patio. They are in the process of building a tasting room onsite. The Yates family also owns Spicewood winery. They have planted several rows of Tempranillo onsite. The winery sources grapes from growers in Texas, Washington, and California. Their whites were well balanced with bright acidity that would make these wines pair well with food. I enjoyed all three Texas sourced whites on the menu right now (Albarino, Sauv Blanc, & Viognier). The reds are young and need some time to age. They taste like they have future potential, just released too early. The tannins I think will begin to mellow with time and really allow the wine to find a good harmonious balance. Right now they taste tight, tannic, woodsy with bright fruit undertones. The Tempranillo, Zin, and Grenache are ready to drink now. I think the Grenache and Zin were my favorite reds - silky smooth, fruit forward with long finnish, great balance of tannins and acid. Tasting is only $15 for 9 wines. Dave was a great tasting associate. He was knowledgeable and friendly! Excited to see what this place has to offer in the future. Sounds like some exciting stuff is about to come out of the barrels. read more

I recommend Ron Yates owner if Sierra Vegetation Management. He came out and gave me a bid, told me what his time frame would be the following month, called the following month around the first, came out and looked at the property again to be sure what we wanted, dropped his equipment off, and started work three days later. The first business contractor I have had that kept his word and time frame. The work was great, he did the work himself with another crewmember. He owns all his large equipment so he doesn't have to rent it from somewhere else and wait for delivery. There was about an acre and a half of property that they Masticated, cut down dead trees and branches. The property now has a great fire break. His being there when he said, doing the job we contracted, and offering suggestions as we went along through the job was well worth the money to me. To have a company in this area be there on time and do what they say they will do is worth it's weight in gold. Ron Yates is this guy. I highly recommend him and his work.
