Once I decided I was getting a Veloster N with the Performance Package, I submitted inquiries to local dealers who had them in stock. Melissa Slover here at Tonkin's Gresham Hyundai was one of only two who provided a price quote better than MSRP minus Hyundai's current incentive. Withnell Salem Hyundai was the second; their listed price was better so I asked if Gresham could match. Gresham said yes without any issue. My schedule for the month was pretty hectic, but eventually I set up an appointment to come view the car. They had no problem with a test drive, so off we went! During that drive though, another customer apparently decided to purchase the vehicle. Melissa was able to get another one on a dealer trade that evening, and she offered the same deal on the trade. I said yes and signed the paperwork. That alone was awesome; in my experience a dealer won't offer the same price on a trade since the car wasn't already in their inventory. Tonkin Gresham did. I don't know if that's normal, or if it was just because the car I came for sold while I was there, but either way I was impressed. That evening I took delivery of my new car! The only two downsides to my visit aren't things I can hold against them. The first is the time getting through finance; it took a few hours. For whatever reason, a bunch of us showed up at the dealership around the same time, and from what I could tell all of us decided to buy almost simultaneously. They only had one finance guy working. I didn't notice any other customers show up for the remainder of the evening, and having worked retail I've personally experienced short staffing issues upon unusually large and sudden rushes of customers myself (for instance, having one cashier is fine when nobody shows up for an hour, but then it sucks when ten or so literally show up 15 minutes before you close...go figure). They were repeatedly very apologetic about the wait time. Once I got to the finance office, everything went quickly and smoothly. The other downside is the condition of the building. Of all the dealerships I've been to over the past year while narrowing down my car choice, this one may be the oldest and most worn I encountered. It's cramped, got cold as the evening progressed (particularly in a seemingly unheated bathroom), and just really needs updates. They did at least have some giant bows (Christmas season) and a couple cars in the showroom to help liven things up and provide some privacy between tables. Maybe Hyundai doesn't provide its dealers with renovation money. Maybe the higher-ups at Tonkin don't want to invest in improvements. Maybe the dealer has to do it and can't afford it. Maybe Gresham has some zoning or code restricting what they can do. Whatever the case, this place deserves some love! Overall I'm extremely satisfied. Everyone I spoke and worked with was friendly. The deal was excellent. They've been very responsive with every question I've had. And now I have an awesome car too! read more

As I have been very interested in the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV (fully electric vehicle) I decided to give the Ron Tonkin Hyundai dealership (here in Gresham) a call since they appeared to have one of these hard to find vehicles on display in their showroom. I talked to Liana Bernard on the phone and she seemed quite nice so I set up a viewing time for my wife and I. We were very pleasantly greeted at the door by Liana and given more than ample time to examine the product. I am someone who researches things quite painstakingly (just ask my wife!) and Liana had been at the dealership for only about 5 months so there were a couple of things I had discovered about the Ioniq that she hadn't been exposed to yet. This really isn't that unusual as I am retired and sales people have a lot of new products to learn but Liana did not seem uncomfortable with that fact and she needn't have been. She took a lot of time making sure we were exposed to all of the interesting and, in some cases, unique aspects of the car. At no time were we uncomfortable with her approach and she never tried to blow smoke or fake product knowledge. All in all, we found her to be a breath of fresh air when it comes to salespeople, especially when one considers what you often encounter on the sales floor of many dealerships. We mentioned that we are not in a big rush and probably won't be making a decision on a car for a couple of months and Liana respected our position and didn't try to put pressure on us. I certainly can't vouch for this dealership as I have never purchased a vehicle here but I was quite impressed with how Liana handled herself. All I can say is that I owned an audio store in Iowa many years ago and I would have been pleased to have someone with Liana's enthusiasm and integrity working for me. Hyundai is fast becoming a very desirable line of autos and SUV's not to mention a neat new smaller truck they have called the Santa Cruz. So, if you are in the market, I would unhesitatingly recommend that you give Liana Bernard a shot at your business. We certainly appreciated having such a courteous and pleasant lady to talk to, one who diligently tried to answer all of our questions without the usual dose of high pressure. So my wife and I decide to buy a pickup before we retire and we have been looking and pricing for about a year and we see this Dodge Ram 1500 low miles and looks good. So off we go and the sales person Jose Plancarte introduces himself and we tell him were there for the pickup and the sale price we found and we have our own financing. He is extremely nice and knowledgeable so we test drive it love it and go back and sit down to talk terms. No games just sale price and what I want in payments and off we go to meet the finance mgr Adam Gomez. Adam was awesome we exchanged stories and they even found us a interest rate lower than 6% and we got the extended warranty signed and went home excited. Now this is where I thought the nightmare was going to begin, I took it to a dodge dealer in the Vancouver area because the truck ignition began to stick in the start position. They called me up and said that my warranty company would not cover it. Dum de Dum Dum!!!! So I get a hold of Cliff Atkins at the Hyundia dealership and let him know whats going on and hold my breath as I have racked up a nice bill at the other dealership. He says sorry and was so polite talks to his GM and has the truck towed to his dealership took care of the bill minus my deductible and they trouble shoot it and fix it under the warranty and I pick it up and take it home. The problem starts again within a few days. Dum De Dum Dum!!! Once again I call Cliff and he suggests I take it to the Dodge Dealership and they find the problem and once again the warranty company won't cover it. So they call me up and tell me they are going to find out why and now I have 2 Service mngrs, 2 GM's, and my service rep, Eric Cross at the Ron Tonkin Dodge dealership saying BS to the warranty Co. and got Corporate involved! All the time keeping me updated and I finally get a call from Eric and he says that I can pick up my truck and because of the amount of time it took to get the repairs done they waived the deductible. We bought a new Hyundai in June 2022, as this dealer had the model we wanted in stock. We had the good fortune of meeting salesperson Liana Bernard at that time. She guided us through the process, and made sure we were satisfied with our purchase both during and after the sale. She even brought a form that needed a signature to our home to save us making an trip. She checked back with us a couple times during the year, and when she contacted me a few months ago, I told her we would be in the market for another Hyundai Hybrid soon, and asked her to contact me back in a couple months which she did. I knew the specific model and color I wanted. She let me know that one was in transit, and I went in and put money down. When the car came in, she again handled the sale process making it as painless as possible, and helping us to be sure we were satisfied. Went into Ron Tonkin today to look at a used car after my old one was totaled. I had read the other reviews on yelp and went in nervous and on my toes ready for bad news. I had poor credit and was not optimistic. I will say either Ron Tonkin Hyundai fixed a lot of problems, or Yelp is full of Douche Bags, my experience couldn't have been better and everything bad I have read is WRONG!! Eric Rodrigues was the salesman who served me, and I could not say enough about how well he worked for me. Put me into a car better than I thought I could get, with a great rate and a stellar warrenty. He walked me thru the process and made it fast and understandable, and I don't have a head for numbers, so it took a great deal of patience on his part. They helped with financing and got me a great APR and terms, hell even the coffee was good!! I would recommend anyone talk to Eric when they go in. I had an amazing experience at Ron Tonkin Hyundai a few months ago!! Tanner is the best! One of the key factors that made me choose this particular dealer was the way that Tanner worked with me. I am a very busy person, with limited time available for car shopping. Tanner was awesome enough to assist getting as many things done before I even showed up to the lot. By the time I was able to show up and test drive cars - he had my preferences ready, my paper work complete, and no joke I found the car I loved and walked out within about an hour. It was hands down the faster, greatest car buying experience I have ever had! I had been spending a month researching and taking dealerships on test drive ( yes dealerships ). When I saw the car I bought online in their inventory I had a strong feeling this was the car. I went in the next morning and meet with David Hill, test drove the car and then test drove the dealership................both passed! We did all the paper work and they dropped the car off at my place so that I could have it checked out by my mechanic. There were only 5 small items that I wanted fixed, they fixed all! "Best place in OR, IMHO" These people went out of their way for my wife and I when we bought our vehicles from RT Hyundai for both selection and financing. The people themselves are VERY friendly even if you're 'just looking'. Service (oil change/etc) is quick and efficient and the service department staff are very nice. Although I would recommend to RT that they either remodel the current building or that they find another location as the current building, while serviceable, isn't up to the RT standards nor the Hyundai standards. Purchased a vehical just a few weeks ago. Will the sales guy helping was very friendly, professional and helpful. We ended up with a decent car Ford focus. Worked with me on the down payment and everything . Two weeks after purchasing the car there was a recall on it by Ford. And within a week of that my car quit. Just wouldn't start anymore. So I had it towed to the Ford dealership in Gresham and was carless . I own a new hyundai sonota hybrid, this place was a great experience overall. Also David Hill was amazing sells rep. Tells you everything he can about each car and if he dont know the question he does take the time to figure it out. Not gonna lie when you first walk in they talk fast and stuff but dont let that trick you they try to give you the best deals for sure brought my 35,000 dollar car down to 26,000 now i had a bunch of special rebates but if your car offers them they are proud to help you with them i highly recommend Ron Tonkin and ill probably being buying my next Car with David where ever he goes :) read more
