Here is what I observed when I got under the car a few months later to change the oil myself: 1. The front cross-brace that covers the oil pan had a chunk missing on one of the corners, and one of its nine bolts was entirely gone. Notably, the gone bolt was not where the chunk was missing, suggesting they were unrelated. 2. All eight of the present bolts were over-torqued, as was the oil filter itself -- I could barely get it loose, and it's only supposed to be around 10ftlbs by factory spec. 3. The oil was overfilled. It should be 4.5qts, yet I measured over 5.0qts leaving the oil pan. 4. The oil filter used was Mazda Value instead of the standard part. I contacted my service advisor, Thor, about this. After a few days of no reply, I left a never-to-be-answered voicemail for the service manager. The next day, Thor texted back, and I explained the situation immediately. 24 hours later, I followed up, and Thor instantly responded with what amounted to saying there was no proof they caused any issues and that maybe I didn't know what I was talking about. They offered a free oil change -- no sense of irony, I suppose. I thought people were kidding about the quality of service you get at a dealerership, but apparently not.

The vehicle overheats at idle, the check engine light has come on, and the A/C stops cooling when the engine temperature rises. I reached out publicly and privately hoping the dealership would step up and help. Instead, my messages were ignored. They watched my stories, continued posting photos of happy customers buying vehicles, and never once reached out to ask if I had made it safely or offer any assistance. No customer should spend this kind of money only to be stranded hundreds of miles from home--especially an 8-month-pregnant woman traveling alone. I expected professionalism and accountability from a dealership. Instead, I've been left with thousands of dollars in unexpected expenses, enormous stress, and a vehicle that began failing almost immediately after purchase. I'm documenting every repair, every expense, and every attempt to contact Cascade Motors. I hope they choose to take responsibility and make this right, because this has been one of the worst vehicle purchasing experiences I've ever had.

I immediately drove to First Choice to ask their advice. Eric dropped what he was doing, and hooked up a diagnostic tool to the truck. It showed an oxygen sensor error. Right then and there, he could have said make an appointment; you need a new one. Instead, he said that it was rare for them to fail. He cleared the error code from the truck, and told me to drive it for an hour or so, and go get it tested again. I followed his advice, and it worked! First Choice did not charge me a penny, and the solution was simple, straight forward, and took little time. I've had other instances where these guys have really bailed me out over the years, and I won't have my vehicles serviced anywhere else. If you want it fixed correctly the first time, this is the shop to do the job.
