Our experience with Ron DeGroodt Paving Inc. is mixed. They worked on our property in May 2016.
The good: The workers were polite, willing and efficient;
The work they did looked great when they left;
The basic work on our flat driveway held up through the one winter we remained in the house.
The bad: One of the ruts on our driveway which Ron DeGroodt Paving Inc. filled before pouring the asphalt, began to reoccur during the summer (though not as bad as it was before);
The work they did in front of our mailbox completely fell apart over the winter and, despite being told about that on May 26, 2017 and promising to fix it during the summer when they were working on a large commercial job near our home, and despite several additional communications on our part during the course of the summer to remind him that the work still needed to be done, no attempt had been made to do the repair as of when we sold the house in December 2017 (but the commercial job had been worked on). Further, Chris Dunn (the project manager we dealt with) stopped returning our calls and messages after leaving us a message that said if we brought in a different contractor to repair the damaged area we would be voiding our warranty. We thought about taking them to small claims court but just didn't have the time.
Would we use them again or recommend them: NO! When someone sells us a product or service and tells us that there is a warranty associated with our purchase, we expect them to stand behind that promised warranty. Ignoring our complaint instead of fixing the problem is not honoring their commitment to us, nor is it a good business practice. While the work done on our flat driveway was adequate the extra work they did (which we paid a significant amount of money to have done) was apparently substandard and Ron DeGroodt Paving Inc., despite their promised warranty, made no attempt to fix it. read more
