We originally sat inside but it was too loud for us to be able to talk so we moved outside. Our server was nice but pretty busy since there were some large parties. We both enjoyed our drinks. Rome and Fig has inspirational dishes the appeal to all of the senses. Walking into the restaurant, the interior aesthetics match the hipster vibe of their menu. . The inspiration, however, does not translate within the dishes. At a brunch, we ordered stuffed french toast, pancakes, meatball sub, asian wings, and truffle fries. All of the dishes featured sugar as the primary flavoring, making it extremely difficult to savor any natural ingredients. I'm a firm believer that good quality food relies on flavors enhanced by fresh ingredients, and therefore I was left wondering whether Rome and Fig is fresh at all. read more

There is absolutely nothing negative I could say about the food, staff, libations and restaurant!! They were all fabulous!! They ensured every guest was treated with the best service!! I was truly impressed!! I don't live in Tampa but will definitely ensure to go back when I visit l, as the food was amazing. The Mixologist were amazing as well!! True education on whatever you desired to know about when it came to the bar menu. The Tuna Tartare was delish and fresh!! The fried green tomato caprese, truffle fries, and Asian wings were all very tasty as well. I'm sorry I missed the beef short rib sliders, as everyone told me they were amazing, but I was full!! Beautiful dining area inside and out. The drink menu is sure to have something for everyone. My favorite drinks include the Magic Mike, the Karen, and the sangria. I love the concept of better than bottomless, which is a bottle of champagne with assorted juices and fruit for $25, but am unable to order it on my own. When I am with friends, it is a hit! I have only dined here for brunch, and have enjoyed the country breakfast, two egg breakfast, avocado toast (which includes bacon!) and the grilled cheese + tomato soup... all were delicious and worth ordering again. Only negatives include a $4 up charge for a side of bacon, that only comes with 2 slices and are paper thin (you could hold these up to the light and see your friends through it), and slow service despite having multiple tables available. This was a very tough review to write. We really really wanted to love Rome + Fig, not just like it. Friends rave about it. Unfortunately our experience was 3-star being totally objective. That said - quite likely we would return to try it again. Highlight - service was excellent, restaurant itself was attractive and very comfortable. we especially appreciated the table not being scrunched together. Started with ribs and the soft-shell crab. The ribs were meh at best - not hot, or even warm. One of the 3 was tough to the point of inedible. I was told it was 1st day of a new recipe - back to the drawing board with this one. Crab was good. We had the Chilean sea bass which was excellent - well prepared and tasty. These are the highlights. I had the bison meatballs appetizer as my main course along with spring strawberry salad. The meatballs were cool, certainly not hot or warm. They were nothing special and actually tough - they were chewy and required a knife to cut. I definitely would not try them again. The salad was pedestrian at best - not particularly tasty in any way. Had maybe 3 drops of dressing. As for the cocktails - not inspiring in any way. We ordered several old fashioneds - basically what you get is a glass with a large square ice cube, some bourbon (price depends on which bourbon you chose) and some other unknown ingredients so they could call it an old fashioned and add a surcharge. Blah at best - had I known it would be this uninspired I would have either just ordered a good bourbon and skipped the pretense of it being an old fashioned. As for the deserts - nothing "spoke to us" very limited selections. I really really wanted this to work. Will try again. read more

I shouldn't have taken so long to write the review because I don't remember what the attached drink was called but it was delicious! I'm sure the bartender would know if they saw it. The glassware and silverware was disgusting. It had not been washed. Our glasses still had lipstick on them and they tried to still serve us our water in them. We asked for new ones and ordered bottle water as we were afraid of their tap water from the dirty glasses and it was 10 dollars. We ordered coffee that was also in dirty glasses and not good. It was watered down and just not good. We tried to order our food, but they were out of the two items we wanted. We decided we were striking out and to just take the check. We had outside seating and I really don't mind sitting outside but there needs to be better shade for the FL sun. There were seats fully in the sun as well as only partially under the umbrellas. And they have fans but none are directed at the tables on either edge. Additionally our tables diet cokes came out flat, didn't even bubble when you stirred with the straw. But the main issue I have is that they brought out plates to share our appetizers and every single plate was dirty. The entree plates seemed fined just the small appetizer plates. We decided to come to Rome + Fig for a date night because we had visited for brunch a couple of years ago and had such a great experience that we wanted to return for dinner. Unfortunately, while the brunch left a lasting impression, dinner did not live up to our expectations. Our server was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and truly doing her best--but it was clear she was the only one working the floor, which made the experience feel chaotic. I really felt for her, as she seemed overwhelmed, yet she remained professional and kind throughout the night. The atmosphere at dinner was drastically different from brunch. Inside, the music was so loud it felt more like a nightclub than a restaurant, so we opted for the patio to have a more comfortable experience. I started with an Old Fashioned, which took quite a while to arrive. While it wasn't terrible, it certainly wasn't great--especially at the price point. Using small ice cubes instead of a single large one meant it melted too quickly, diluting the drink and affecting the experience. As for food, the appetizers were the highlight of the meal. My partner had the meatballs and enjoyed them, and I ordered the fried green tomatoes, which were flavorful but misleading--they weren't green tomatoes at all, just regular red ones, making them soft and mushy rather than crisp. Unfortunately, the entrees were where things really fell apart. While the menu descriptions were enticing, the execution was seriously lacking. The dishes were bland, with salt seemingly the only seasoning used. The proteins were drastically overcooked and disappointingly small for the price. When you're paying $30+ per entrée, you expect a certain level of quality and portioning, neither of which were delivered. By the time our plates were cleared, we were so disappointed that, despite normally indulging in dessert, we exchanged a glance and immediately declined when it was offered. The idea of spending more money for what would likely be another letdown just wasn't worth it. At the end of the night, our bill came to over $160 for one drink, two appetizers, and two entrees--and for that price, the meal should have been exceptional. Instead, it left us wishing we had chosen another spot. If I had known what to expect, I would have opted for somewhere else rather than spending a premium price for a subpar experience. While I still have fond memories of our brunch visit, I don't think we'll be returning. read more

We we're here on a weeknight so the place was less busy and quieter inside. The service was ok, it took a while for our appetizers and entrees to come out. We loved all the drinks and appetizers we ordered. The entrees were good. I had the Fig + Flower drink, it was delicious. For my main course, I had the risotto it was good but could've used more flavor. Overall it's a good place if you want a somewhat upscale dinner. The prices are on the higher end. I recommend going on the weekdays, parking is better and it's less crowded. If it's crowded it's really hard to hear and have a conversation if you're sitting inside. I've heard their Happy Hour is really good, so I'd be interested to try that out. read more

The food was tasty and I didn't have any complaints. The tuna tartare and salad were average as far as those items go. I had lamb and it was cooked perfectly! The second dish is the tuna tartare. The tuna is fresh and well sauce. The wonton skin is crispy to accommodate the tuna. The third dish is the creole style crab cake. This dish has good meat burn side of crab cake. I like this method better. The quantity is small. The last item is the Korean St. Louis Rib. This dish I like the most. The rib is well prepared. Perfectly grilled. The sauce is beautifully done. Overall our experience is great. Love the food. Chef has good technique on grilled. Very good use of sauce. I got the cucumber gimlet (delish and had enough gin). We also got the fried green tomato caprese, literally the best fried green tomatoes we have ever had, bao bun, and filet sandwich. Some of my friends decided on this place for one of our meetups and we were promptly greeted and taken to our table at our reservation time. Drinks were very good. I had the seasonal pumpkin spice espresso martini, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. For an app I tried some of the friend green tomato caprese that was ordered for the table, and I enjoyed that as well. For my entree I chose the Asian noodles and added a side of chicken. The chicken was extremely tender and had great flavor. The noodles were decent and paired well with the protein. I'm kind of surprised how a protein isn't already included in the price of this dish. The only grip was the pricing. It seemed to be pretty pricey for what you got. read more

The food was delicious! And the outdoor seating area was nice and cozy. They have fans if it's too hot out. Also, the cocktails are tasty and they do NOT skimp on the alcohol amount! I would say the only thing I wasn't very happy with was the fact that I had to wait nearly 20 minutes to be checked on once I was seated. The host came over and checked on us and I told him that we had been waiting quite some time, and they got our server to our table within a few minutes of that. Normally I don't mind if the servers at least to an intro check in with water then we wait, but we literally got passed by 4-5 times by multiple servers throughout the 15-20 minutes and no one checked to see if we were helped yet. To start the host was very accommodating. Some of us wanted to sit outside, some of us wanted to sit inside so best of both worlds, he seated us just off of the patio -- best of both worlds. Artisanal cocktails included the coldfashioned which, if you like a cold brew you would love. Then the fig and flower and earl grey Tom Collins. All delicious. Appetizers were pork belly and caprese salad. They were both fantastic -definitely would have either or both of them on a return visit. Entrees included the pork chop, duck breast and risotto. I loved my experience at Rome + Fig. I went for brunch with my friends-- arrived thirty minutes late, (selmon only had one lane open) and I called and notified them and they were so kind about it. The brunch menu is limited but filled w flavor! There are light options like salads, trendy options like chicken and waffles, and traditional options like an egg platter. I ordered the Better Than Mimosa for the table, which is a bottle of champagne and your choice of three juices, they have what we chose: pear cinnamon, apricot mango, and pineapple in addition to cranberry, orange and possibly one other. Please, try the pear cinnamon -- it is amazing and reminds me of applesauce! I also tried the Earl Grey Collins which is made w gun and earl grey syrups. It was so refreshing and delicious. I loved that it was topped w a little baby's breath. Because I had planned on eating multiple places, I ordered the Kale Caesar and added the salmon. So delicious! I didn't read the description, so the kale salad also has spinach and romaine lettuce... it's not solely kale, slightly disappointing but still good. I tried some of my friend's Lemon Ricotta pancakes and will be ordering that next time i'm there for brunch! The manager (no clue of name) and our server , Jayden were very kind and helpful. One of our guest had a red hair scrambled and cooked into their eggs - yikes but manager took the meal off and a drink for him! We were done ordering food at that point but be aware of the red headed cook. Maybe hairnets can fix that problem...just a suggestion. Parking is STRESSFUL, unless you can get a park in their parking lot. If not, side parking by the housing will be it. Careful of rocks, dips, dust from all the construction. Not my first rodeo at Rome and Fig for a reason. This place doesn't disappoint. From entry to exit, you are treated with class and grace. We started with the fried oysters and the lomo saltado. Both were winners. Very interesting take on the fried oysters. I had the Filet Mignon w/ asparagus. Cooked to my exact specifications. Others dishes were the Jerk Salmon and the Chilean Sea Bass w/ cauliflower. Only great sounds and praise was heard for those dishes. We were waited on by Anthony, who took exceptional care of us throughout the night. Even after we paid our first bill, then proceeded to sit by the patio fireplace and order a couple more rounds. Food and cocktails here are excellent! Had the lamb chops & loin, cooked medium, and it was perfection. They served it over creamy pearl barley! OMG! My wife had the balsamic chicken over a wild rice with leg meat. Just as spectacular as the lamb. The crispy skin was absolutely delicious! Hats off to the kitchen. We came to Rome and Fig for mother's day dinner. I know it's the end of a busy weekend so I tried to give them some grace. When we sat down we were told they were out of the scallops and the lobster. Disappointing but ok. Our waitress Shay was fantastic. She made sure our drinks were ordered and we felt very taken care of. Then things turned for the worst. She comes back over to us and states they are also out of the French onion soup and the tuna tar tar. This was wild to me because the menu is not a large menu! Also it was Mother's Day... you would think the restaurant would overstock some things for the busiest industry holiday of the year! Regardless, we ordered our food. And then waited. For over an hour. Shay was keeping us informed of our meals and apologized for the wait. We kept talking, no big deal. Catching up with family and delicious drinks distracted us. Then the food showed up and it was cold. You can tell it had been sitting under a light for a while. The plate was warm but the food was not. I had the short rib with polenta. My polenta was cold and the short rib room temperature at best. So disappointing. My sister's chicken in her Asian noodles was also cold and very dried out. I rarely complain but to have all of these issues on Mother's Day is crazy. Shay was very apologetic. Our short rib was comped and that was a nice gesture. But the crazy part is it was not even busy! All of the tables were not full , the patio was still empty. It didn't make sense. Where are the food runners? I guess maybe mother's day brunch really took them all out and left nothing for dinner time? All in all super disappointed. We could have went anywhere for Mother's Day!! I've been excited to try this place out since it opened and is so close by and I finally made it! I've heard so many good things about Rome + Fig and it was definitely worth the hype! I went on a Sunday for brunch so it was pretty active but all the staff were wearing masks and the tables were socially distanced which I liked. The first thing that caught my attention was the ambiance. The design of the restaurant is just gorgeous! Very classy! I also noticed the professionalism of the staff as well which is always a plus. There is an inside dining area as well as an outdoor with "grass" so you can bring your pups. Now for the food. I think this place has the best "bottomless mimosas" by far. They give you a whole bottle of champagne along with different juices and fruits to essentially make your own mimosas. I thought that was a clever thing to do and just one bottle was shared between my friend and I. I also got the Havana club sandwich with fries which was delicious! Such a disappointment. The portions are horrible. They probably used a quarter of an avocado for my toast. I had an unsweet iced tea which you're only allowed one free refill. They have a good happy hour. Food wise I tried the tuna tartare, fried green tomato caprese and Asian wings. Tuna tartare was good but the wonton chips weren't as crispy. The green tomatoes were absolutely delicious and have a bit of a kick to them. The wings were my least favorite I just think the sauce was too sweet and the wings were a little overcooked. For drinks I had the the blackberry snapper which is the pic below. It was the perfect balance of sweet and tart and they aren't shy with their pours. The drink was also very aesthetically pleasing.
