Made an appointment, arrived on time. Was directed to a salon chair and assigned to an older lady. From the beginning she made a sour face at me and acted bothered to be the on to give me a pedicure. I asked my toenails be cut short. I had to remind her what I wanted. She cut me, twice! After the second cut, I yelped and removed my feet from her grasp. The male in the shop finished the job. Discovered this hidden gem right in my east Ventura neighborhood. Ken is amazing at his work. You can tell it's a craft that he has taken time to understand and perfect. It's not uncommon for him to use myriad of tools in a simple manicure to ensure every part of my finger and nails look perfect. I typically get a pink and white ombré full set and I've never had my nails stay on so long (and I'm a little rough on them lol, I'm not afraid to shy away from some gardening or doing dishes). Always shaped perfectly, Perfect tips, perfect ombré.... Perfect everything. Finally got the opportunity to get a pedicure and they offered to even wax my eyebrows while it was getting done and WOW, everything turned out so perfectly! She told us to come back. We came back and then she tells us we should have called ! Wtf ! She just said "come back and I'll finish them" !!! Not to call. They still took my money ! crappy service, a crappy final paint job. I paid $84 for a pedicure and gel nails. Ken did my nails same time my pedicure was being done, so that was awkward and not at all relaxing. The pedicure was done so fast that it was not worth the cost of the extra premium service I paid for. Just 2 days later my fingernail gel was lifting but was able to stop in for a redo/repair. AND then 2 days later, 3 more fingernails started to lift and the pretty snowman sticker on my big toe fell off. Not happy with my pretty Christmas nails! Why doesn't Yelp allow ZERO STARS!! This place has by far the worst customer service I've experienced!! My niece and his best friend had their nails done here for senior ball. THE BAD: Not sure who did her friends nails, but they left pieces of old acrylic UNDER HER GEL MANICURE. THE UGLY: As far as my niece goes - her nails looked like chicklets (yes the Mexican gum). Kim, who did her nails, completely ignored her requests and took advantage of a teenager. We call. We ask them to fix it. Ken says ok come back: (Now here it goes from UGLY to WORSE) So tell my why when I pick up my niece she's almost in tears (again) saying that they tried to charge her half price to redo them and she spent 10 minutes arguing with Ken to either fix them or refund the money. Then Kim proceeds to chastise and belittled her the entire time she's fixing her POS work and when I show up she says "there. happy?" in the most rude and condescending tone. It took all I had not to let that lady have a piece of my mind. And even after "fixing" them they still didn't look good. DO NOT GO HERE EVER. They were welcoming and nice = 2 stars. I was pressed for time, and this place is pretty close to my home. The lady who did my pedicure was very nice & gives a good sea salt massage. Now for the bad. I requested a French pedicure, but she didn't really clean out enough of the dirt on the sides of my nails. She also cut my nails rounded, then painted the white very straight across. I agreed to flowers, which didn't end up looking anything like what I described. So, I'm sorry but I will not be back. This was really the only reason I came in, I didn't care about having them painted or all the other bells and whistles. The lady barely sanded the dip off, then a different guy comes over to paint them and I can obviously still see lines on most of my toes where the dip was still on. I mentioned it and showed him, he gave me some attitude (didn't speak one word to me the whole time until he told me how much it was, not sure if it was a language barrier, bad day, or that's just how he is), brought the dremel back out after painting some of my toenails, they got dust all over them, and yep you guessed it, dip still not all off. He painted all my toes and did two coats on one big toenail and only one on the other, totally obvious color difference so I pointed that out to him as well and he hastily with attitude did another coat. I don't typically go get pedicures, if I paint my toes I do them at home with normal polish. This guy is a professional and I do a better job with painting nails, I was kinda in shock. This was my first time trying the dip at home which lasted a long time but I specifically went in to get it taken off. I am a jeweler and have my own dremel tool, next time for $48 I'll just do it myself. I didn't realize pedicures were that much, especially when their sign said something different. They were friendly, but did my pedicure so fast. I was done in twenty minutes because another customer showed up. My feet are still rough and feel like crap. Didn't offer callous removal, salt rub, warm towels or any extras. They didn't even tell me when I was done. Just walked away and went to their other customer and left me sitting there without knowing what was going on. I thought she was coming back to finish, but didn't. My feet are still really rough and feel like crap. My husband looked at my feet and said I thought you were getting a pedicure. That's exactly the same thought I had. Pedicures are supposed to be relaxing, but this was so hurried and rough it was stressful. I went here because it was close to my house, and I would never go again. Ok it takes a lot for me to write a yelp review, but this one is necessary. I'm looking at all these other reviews that are just horrible. People can be nasty. I just don't agree with these one star reviews by any means. I usually go to ProfessioNail but yesterday they had an our wait and my nails were3 weeks grown out and wrecked so I could t wait! I ran over to romantic nails hoping for the best and trying my best to ignore these reviews because I hadn't been here since my 18th birthday when they then did an outstanding job. So well in fact I will never forget what they looked like or how perfect they were or how pretty they made me feel. Well after last night I can only say the same. My nails look beautiful. They look amazing. I left feeling happy, well taken care of and very well respected. I was greeted promptly and genuinely at the door. I was ushered to a chair right away even though it was 530 and they were getting ready to close. She kindly looked at the picture I showed her as an example of how I wanted my French tip done and listened when I explained no one else does them the way I like. I also asked her to remove my previous set and apply an entirely new set. Now down in these reviews I see so many issues with pricing. I paid $41 and I left a $9 dollar tip making it a full $50 for what was technically a brand new set. I dont know if some of you are expecting $25 full sets in 2018 or if none of you remember inflation occurs but $35-40 for a full set is absolutely reasonable. I see a review about a charge for length? I dont know about that because like I said, she removed my previous set which is usually a charge in itself. It's not cheap to get your nails done and if you want them done for cheap you will get what you pay for. With that being said I'd like to thank the staff here for excellent service and excellent work Update: My nails lasted a solid 3 weeks without a fill with no lift! I went back last night for a fill and decided to switch it up, resulting in a removal of my full set and applying another and again, the look BEAUTIFUL! Perfectly set around my cuticles, perfect length, perfect shape, perfect coloring, exactly what I asked for! Again I've seen many reviews about pricing so I'd like to touch base on that again. A full set is $35. I removed my full set, had another set applied and got a gel top coat and I only paid $46 + my tip. Now from my calculations that's completely relevant. $35 for a new set, $5 for removal and $5 for the gel. Don't be so nit picky guys! Getting your nails done is not cheap! Don't come to a salon expecting to pay $20 for a full set. You get what you pay for. With that being said, I love romantic nails! I got this set done by KAYLA and I will be coming back! read more

Pretty shady with their charge machine! I was leaving a cash tip and asked how much the fill was. I was told $30 and handed her my card while leaving a generous tip on the table. I walked up to the desk and she gave me my card, handed me pencil(!), and put the receipt slip up for me to sign while holding it with her hand. While signing, I noticed it wasn't for $30, but for $38! I looked at her and asked why and she looked startled and said "Oh! Tip!" So she tipped herself $8??? She was then shocked that I went and took back the $10 cash tip. She kept saying sorry, but she was most sorry that I had noticed. How many people a day does she do this to? Too bad. This is the closest nail salon to my home. Honestly I'm disappointed and probably would never come back. I honestly just don't like being in a place where employees are watching movies on their iPads the whole time. The woman that did my toes was nice but she kept asking if I wanted all these extras. I assumed they cost more, but she didn't bother to let me know how much each additional thing was (i.e. Salt scrub, callus removal, etc). So a $20 pedicure ended up costing $39 with French, salt scrub, and callus removal). The one thing that bugs me the most is the lines aren't straight on my French. The second thing is I understand Vietnamese, so if the woman is saying it's $38 then why the cashier telling me it's $39 in English? Is there a $1 charge for using my debit card? I've been coming to Romantic Nails as a regular now and Ken hooks it up. I can usually get in with a phone call ahead on the same day and Ken somehow manages to get my nails back to beautiful in under an hour (pedicure at the same time included). I WRECK my nails, I'm a PE teacher and am lifting stuff all the time. I've NEVER had a nail break and I loyally only get my nails filled once a month. Even when they're a little extra grown out, they still look great. I find the price point to actually be better than the Jessica Nail salon down the street, which I used to frequent before I had a couple of nails break. They charge for length of nails. I have been getting my nails done for 18 years and I have never heard of this. So if I wanted my nails the normal length I wear them it was 10.00 more. I REFUSED. But sadly when i just recently went back to get a full set of pink and white nails, well lets just say my nails are not pink, and none of them are the same length. Went in for a French gel manicure and was shocked that the guy didn't even cut my nails so that it's all one length nor did he even clean and shape my cuticles. He went straight to just filing the tips real quick and started painting my nails. I posted a picture of my horrible French tip nails. The tips are painted bigger than I like and the it's not even. This place was OK. Staff was nice and it seemed clean but for the end result ($45 for a Mani Pedi with a salt scrub and buff vs polish ) it was overpriced . You can't understand what they are quoting for price for the add ons but I wanted to treat myself so I just agreed . Very disappointing buff and mediocre salt scrub. If I could give this place no stars I would. Let's start with I sent my teenage daughter in with her friend to have their nails done for senior ball. $60 dollars ok no big deal. My daughter calls me crying afterwards stating that her nails look horrible. She send me a picture and they look like little fat stubs of nails. I asked her if she told the manicurist how she wanted her nails and my daughter said she told her exactly how she wanted them and the manicurist replied "oh well I already cut them" Now my daughter is not confrontational person at all so she did not know what to do. She paid and left very upset. I called the next day because I felt my daughter was taken advantage of for being a teenager and I spoke with Ken. I explained what happen and gave him two options 1. They could redo her nails or 2. I wanted her money back. Ken stated no problem have her come back and they would redo them. She went back in and asked for Ken, he took one look at her nails and had the audacity to tell her she would have to pay half price to have her nails redone.. excuse me they were fixing their mistake. My daughter stuck up for herself and after almost 10 minutes of arguing, they agreed to redo them. The same lady that did her nails originally was told to redo them. Her name is Kim. This lady reprimanded my daughter the entire time she was doing her nails, she was rude and very hurtful. She again tried to charge my daughter $5 to fix the shape of her nails and refused to do it otherwise. At this point my poor daughter was done. She just wanted her nails done and leave. The entire time my other daughter was observing this (she's 8). Later that night after I heard what happen I called Ken back and asked what happen and why did he try to charge my daughter half price to fix their mistake and be beyond rude to her. He really didn't have an answer. He tried to justify the way my daughter was treated. I made it very clear to him I would be asking for a charge back on my AMEX and they would not be paid. He became upset and at no point did he ever apologize. So guess what Romantic Nail you will never receive our business or a referral of any sort from us and at that you WILL NOT BE PAID for the horrible job you did on my daughter. I was the only person in the salon and the male owner/manager(?) sat on his phone the entire time in salon chairs barking orders at all of the female employees - he couldn't be bothered for anything. This behavior does not personally incline me to support any business in 2019. Then when I went to pay - again was the only person in the whole salon- they charged me 30% more than what the sign said. They asked the man what to charge in another language, he answered, and then they told me, it was considerably higher than what was posted...not worth your time or money. read more

They charged me 10 dollars to take my nail polish off and 14 dollars to clean up my nails. I would totally understand paying 60 for a gel manicure and pedicure but that is far from what I got. Phone conversation with Ken was great! I needed to book a very last minute manicure appointment and he was able to fit me in during the same day and within the time slot that I had available. I was ushered to a lady once I arrived and things seemed fine once I asked for a gel french manicure, but then things got a little "weird." I was trying to show her the design that the bride had sent the bridesmaids (as a note, we didn't have to get the exact design, but her theme was centered around a certain type of floral-look). The lady wanted nothing to do with the design part, telling me to wait. Okay. During the manicure she only had one "nail dryer." She kept having me put one hand over the other and while she was moving my hands around would smear what she had done previously, it was kinda a mess at one point with three nails needing to be redone. Another client of hers then showed up and she started to move along rather quickly. I didn't know when to bring up the nail-art again and when I did it was supposedly not at a good time. Personally, I think she just forgot and shoulda just have admitted that it was "her bad." Nail art done, top coat on. But I could tell the gel still wasn't hard. She put my hands one on top of the other once again for a couple minutes then moved me to another station to have them under a fan. When the timer went off I should have checked them... for it wasn't until I was in the grocery store that I realized they were still a bit sticky. Then I realized little tiny pieces of black fuzz stuck to each one. I'm guessing the fan was rather dirty, for I wasn't wearing any black that day. She was super sweet, but man, if you have been working here for "quite a few years" then you should be using two nail dryers, since there were a number of them stacked and not being used, and be checking the nails to make sure they are fully dry. I have had problems in the past checking my nails prior to leaving a certain manicurist and having her blame me for the imperfection that resulted to her not giving them enough dry-time. Overall, $40 dollars. Very mixed feelings about this place. read more

I made an appointment through text with Sandy. I was really looking forward to her doing my nails since I got her number from my friend. My appointment was at 6:15 and at 6:10 she texted asking if I could come in at 6:30- no problem. At 6:27 she texted me saying she was sick and she can't do my nails and that she'll reschedule with me tomorrow. Since I was already there, I was still going to get my nails done. When I Walked in I told them I had an appointment with Sandy but she cancelled and all of them pointed to her and said she was right there. After explaining, a nice girl named Kayla ended up doing my nails. But for the hour I was there getting a fill I watched Sandy do someone else's nails and was still working on her when I left. I found this whole experience very unprofessional and inconsiderate. If I do go back, the last person I would make an appointment with is Sandy. read more
