This was a really cool find. It is in an old house, and it really has a special feeling inside. I can truly say the food was 4.5 stars. The service was more like 1 star. The server was really cold and pretty rude when we were asking him about recommendations as we were from out of town. We were in the smaller back room, and about 15 minutes into our experience a group of grown men in their 40's came in and turned this beautiful house into a frat. Loud cussing and all. Then, owners, servers and bartenders came out. They were apparently regulars or knew the owners or something because it was all a big to do. We saw very little of our server after they arrived. Pleasantly surprised by this place! I was staying in Houston with my mother for a visit to MD Anderson, and we were looking for a nice place for dinner that would have a vegan option for me and omni options for her. I didn't expect much, maybe a salad and a side of steamed veggies or something. But no! I called ahead and they said though there wasn't much on the menu, they would be able to make something for me. There was no wait on a Thursday night, and we were seated immediately. I was informed that the bread was not vegan, no biggie, glad they told me. They made me a GF pasta primavera in marinara sauce. They said they could have also given me spaghetti if I didn't want the GF option. It was delicious!! My mother had a spinach and ricotta ravioli with Italian sausage in a truffle sauce. Was very disappointed. I chose this place because it had good reviews. I hate to leave a bad review but there were several issues. They do have a lovely outside area, but I wouldn't recommend the food. We were offered sparkling water as if it was free. Our pasta dishes were so salty. When we were asked how it was we tried to be nice and said it was okay but very salty and they didn't do anything. I'm not usually someone who's going to make a fuss in a small nice restaurant. The appetizer was good and the wine I had was good. Service was slow and seemed a little chaotic. For the prices there are many things that need to be addressed. I don't mind paying more, but I expect the food to be great and service to be better. read more

Mom and I were leaving MD Anderson and wanted a nice quite meal. Oh did we win!! We found the place on Yelp and gave it a go. Cute little place (patio for better weather) with great food!! Mom went with the veal scaloppine and I went with the lasagne. She technically won because it was just that amazing, but she helped me finish mine off too. Her artichoke was cool and delicious but the asparagus was a show stopper. Did I mention we mopped up her sauce with the focaccia?? The only suggestions are: 1. My husband and I came here for a much needed date night. Such a quaint neighborhood atmosphere. The staff was as wonderful as the food. We really enjoyed the personal attention paid to us and it was clear they have a loyal following of patrons that they greet on a first name basis. There were large families, couples, and families with small children. Nonetheless, it was quiet and very refreshing. We enjoyed the burrata and Caesar salad to start, then shared the spinach and ricotta ravioli, veal saltimbocca, and the braised lamb shank. And, yes, we took all of the leftovers home. 4 of us ate at Roma late February and it was excellent! It was a day where it was pouring rain, and we were worried we couldn't get a table. We booked through open table, but when we arrived and throughout our visit it was relatively quiet in the restaurant despite several tables sporting reserved signs. My husband and I uber'ed in, but my cousins drove over only to realize they have no parking except valet. In the pouring rain that was a bit confusing and it took some quick discussion through a cracked window to figure it out with the valet. The staff were wonderful although one guy had a very strong accent that was difficult to understand. We ordered lasagna, ravioli, an appetizer and squid ink pasta. Bread and oil also comes to the table without cost or being prompted, although I found the bread to be rather boring. All of our food was excellent, and we happily tried each others dishes because the portions were good and the food great enough to brag about. The hands down favorite at the table was the squid ink pasta, and not because it was tastier than the others - it was served table side hot in a round of cheese! They took the piping hot pasta, put it in this huge round of cheese, stirred it round and round until it picked up cheese, then scooped it up on to a plate. We loved the show and were very impressed by the method. We'll be back! read more

My husband and I had the best experience starting even before our reservation. Shanon the Proprietor shows great pride in his business. My husband called before our reservation to verify if we could take our baby being that our sitter was sick, not knowing he was speaking with Shanon, he reassured him that it was ok and many people bring their children. He also offered to put us in a quiet corner. Upon showing up I was greated by a sweet hostess and immediately offered a highchair by Shanon!...still not knowing it was the proprietor. After our dessert Shanon came over to congratulate us on our anniversary, brought up the conversation he held with my husband and applauded us on how well behaved our daughter was. Roma in rice village with some great Italian food coming your way. Some of the best things I had were the ravioli. It wasn't just any ravioli, it was spinach and ricotta cheese filled and topped with truffle, mushroom, and sausage. The flavors were so pronounced and melded together, it was like a symphony of flavors. Cannolis, wow, such a wonderful dessert coming from this place. Fresh, delicious, mouth watering, and oh so satisfying for my sweet tooth and the best coming from the dessert trio board they had placed. Still a wonderful customer friendly venue with good food and great service. I have gone there for years and have seen all the changes and I always look forward to going there again. The new menu is less complex and distinctive. It covers all the basic choices with flair and good taste. I had the scallops and shrimp over fregola and it was awesome. Went there last night for a lovely New Year's evening dinner on the outside deck (covered but open on all sides). Fresh Cesar salad was perfect. Loved the tuna steak with risotto and fresh veggies. Partner loved her spinach and feta stuffed ravioli in an aioli sauce with Italian sausage. A little wine and topped off with apple tart dessert. We went there yesterday for a girls lunch. The restaurant is cozy and very cute. Shanon, the owner, served on us. He was very nice. There were six of us getting different appetizers and entrees to share. The appetizers were great. The entrees were all salty. I asked what was the best on the menu and was told it was the Coco Fettuccine. I don't think I even tasted the coco in the pasta because it was drowning in cheese and salt. I only had a few bites as it was hard to eat. My girlfriend had the Squid Ink pasta which she said was too salty. I thought hers was better than mine but heavy on salt. I tried all the appetizers and enjoyed them. All of our entrees were not that good. Aside from being drowned in salt, there was not enough flavor profiles in the food. I hope they read this, lighten up on the salt, and taste their food before serving. read more

I had dinner with friends when tonight. I arrived at the restaurant. The cost to valet is $5, not a problem. I asked the valet if I should pay now or when I leave. He said I could pay now, so I did. When I left, the valet asked me to pay. I explained that I had already paid. He looked at me skeptically. As I was putting the top down on my car, the valet that took my $5 on arrival came and tried to get me to pay again. I explained he was the one that told me to pay when I arrived. He let me go. I can't say enough about the staff, service, or food. We were in town due to a family member being in the hospital (the staff was not aware of this). We walked in without reservations because it looked like there were several available on yelp. They were fully booked and I'm sure we weren't the most put together after being in the hospital all day. The maitre d' was very accommodating and tried to find a table inside - side note: they have a gorgeous patio, it was just a bit chilly. He also offered a table outside with a heater. We ended up outside with the heater which was actually perfect. It was quiet and warm. Since we were the only table outside for the time being, we prepared ourselves for slow service. This was not the case - they quickly figured out our dining pace, our waters remained full, and drinks/wine were perfectly timed. The staff worked well together to check on us periodically. We each had a salad and entree and each plate was just as delicious as the one before. It was a wonderful dining experience! During these difficult times I was excited to see that Roma was offering a virtual wine dinner on a significant birthday! (You're only as old as you feel!) It was incredible! A few glitches are to be expected on a first zoom event....but once on, the distributor and the winery spokesperson were knowledgeable and approachable. The wines were lovely .....but the food....incredible! Although takeout, all courses were beautifully prepared and abundant! And may I say...delicious!!
