In the end, an estimated 3-4 months project was barely completed in 12 months, which means I had to live on a "construction site" for a year! Even with the long delay, the tile work and the floor project were still less than satisfactory. When doing the floor project, JFI even damaged my carpet because of improper method used. Finally the customer care was close to none. I had really bad experience when dealing with them on the unquoted and unreasonable rework charges. So if you ever decide to use JFI, my recommendation is to require a pre-approval on any extra charges.

He came to my house and let me know what would be needed to get porch as good as new. Contract stated all rotted wood would be replaced and both porches would then be sanded primed and painted. Not only was the work not finished, the work that was done was sub par. Just a few months later, a lot of the paint has chipped off, boards have come lose and are coming apart. From the attached pictures you can see nothing was sanded or primed. I am not sure why the boards are already pulling up - but they are. The worst part is John Leith told me - "in writing" four times that he would come back and fix the issues: He was a "no show all our times" Below are his texts - From Oct 25 I will be back in the next couple days to take care of the stairs. Dec. 11 when boards pulled up For sure when the weather gets better. I'll send the guys back. No problem Leo. I'll stay in touch. Jan 28 No problem. Next couple weeks I'll take care of everything. no problem. I got backed up from the cold weather. I'll talk to you soon. Have a nice day. Lastly said he would be back Sunday Feb 15. No show. I'll be back at the property Sunday. Sorry been very busy with family stuff. "He never came back nor sent his crew" When I emailed him along with the pictures i posted below, his son, Vincent, said they have to check what our contract said they would do before addressing further. No where in the contract does it say they will receive payment for sup par and not completing work correctly. Lastly, when i drove by their listed address I could not find this business? Perhaps I missed it? I also added picture of address.

I worked with John and Sons to 1 Tear off and replace roof 2 Repair gutters 3 Install gutter guards Each of these services with them has been terrific. John and his crew have been fast, hard-working, and professional. What has been especially helpful is that the cleanup after the project has been very thorough, which is helpful with my neighbors. And, the roof on my 3-story house is not a simple project, but they made it look easy. One of my other neighbors has already asked me who did my roof and how did they do it so fast. Highly recommend!

I was looking for someone to restore our unsightly front door which is very old (30+ years) and hadn't been painted in decades. I called one of the larger heavily advertised businesses and was told a totally new door would be necessary. I knew the door was aesthetically ugly but good quality wood and it fit the frame perfectly. The quote I received was ridiculously high. I googled and found this small family business and they came by and assured me they would refinish and paint the same door. I did not expect the door to look so beautiful. I am now hiring them to paint my bland kitchen and bathroom cabinets. I'm so thankful to have found this business.

And they know their stuff. I found Johnny through a neighbor a block behind me, that had a major roof repair and some siding replaced. We have similar buildings. He was saying how happy he was with his roofing guy so I gave him a call. He was super fast to reply and came out later that day to check out my roof and give me an estimate. He is very professional, nice and said he'd work with my insurance since I did have shingles and gutters damaged by the last bad storm. Fast forward a week and I got a brand new roof all the way down to the rafters. He tore off all the old layers. I'm guessing it was no picnic as our gang ways are pretty narrow. He had tarps on the ground to make sure no old nails or garbage ended up left behind in my lawn or garden. And he had custom gutters made on the spot to fit my almost 200 year old building. At no extra charge for custom! I did get one more estimate from another builder, Johnny's was a couple grand less, plus he actually called back and showed up when he said he would. Even after I paid him. Honest and trustworthy on top of being good at the work. A rare commodity these days. I'm getting an estimate for the siding now that insurance paid for my new roof! I almost hate to leave a good review because I'm sure he's going to get super busy now just by word of mouth, and I still want my siding replaced. Lol. All of my neighbors saw how good and fast his crew were. They have been asking what I thought about them. Oh yeah, he's licensed and insured too.

Ricky came out to give me a quote on installing some gutter and downspout warming cables as part of correcting ice dam issues. He was friendly on the phone but as soon as he began mansplaining how a roof works, how ice works, and how switches work, that was a bad sign. He mixed up my appointment for someone else, swore on the phone and was less than professional but he did arrive on time. When he began to tell me how ice dams happen, I said I already knew but he opted to explain it all to me again anyway. When it came time for him to close me, he was intensely pushy. Tried to upsell me on replacing the whole roof right then and there before costs go up. He asked if I was going to explain things properly to my husband or should he type things up. When I said I can explain, he made it very obvious didn't believe me. I ended up having to tell him there was a death in the family (which is true), we'll get back to you but he was not having it. He got heated and said he only comes out for quotes when he thinks he's got a customer, he made all this effort, that I've just wasted his time. He then proffered an insincere apology for saying that but man, he could really use a few customer service lessons. He left a bottle of pop behind, I said be sure to grab it. After already being unpleasant, he said "or you can bring it to me." When I didn't move he said, "or not." True professionalism. These are exactly the type of guys that give contractors a bad name, especially with women. One should never assume what a woman does or does not know. Having decades of architecture experience behind me, I'm pretty sure I get this. Use your best judgment. Updated to add: he is now harassing me by phone. Updated based on the insane response: Ricky is an unbelievable storyteller. I have never read such horrifyingly bad lies, wow. I absolutely did not and never ever would make any comments about anyone's race whatsoever, holy cow. Guess he missed the rainbow flag in my window. When you gotta pull the race card because you are that unprofessional, that's pathetic. Yeah man, wow, you need some serious help if you feel the need to fabricate like this. Play it out for all to read, knock yourself out, it's pretty hilarious actually. I guess it's tough being called out a mansplainer with a short fuse. Oh and free estimates are part of your business; no one is obligated to buy so get a grip, my friend. And feel free to give my father-in-law a phone call, check on his life status. It took over a month to complete, and another month for them to clean up after themselves. Overall he had 13 no-shows on scheduled work days. Ricky says this is fine because he got the work done eventually. If you like to be home when contractors are on your property and need to adjust your own work schedule this will be inconvenient. His team had to redo the steps three times but eventually had acceptable work. He took three weeks to come back to seal the concrete. He stopped responding to calls about cleaning concrete stains they left on my patio until he saw my reviews, then came and cleaned them. Ricky takes a lot of jobs, probably too many, and is very busy. Expect delays and frustration, but he'll eventually get your work done if you stay on him and hold him accountable.
