Ricky came out to give me a quote on installing some gutter and downspout warming cables as part of correcting ice dam issues. He was friendly on the phone but as soon as he began mansplaining how a roof works, how ice works, and how switches work, that was a bad sign. He mixed up my appointment for someone else, swore on the phone and was less than professional but he did arrive on time. When he began to tell me how ice dams happen, I said I already knew but he opted to explain it all to me again anyway. When it came time for him to close me, he was intensely pushy. Tried to upsell me on replacing the whole roof right then and there before costs go up. He asked if I was going to explain things properly to my husband or should he type things up. When I said I can explain, he made it very obvious didn't believe me. I ended up having to tell him there was a death in the family (which is true), we'll get back to you but he was not having it. He got heated and said he only comes out for quotes when he thinks he's got a customer, he made all this effort, that I've just wasted his time. He then proffered an insincere apology for saying that but man, he could really use a few customer service lessons. He left a bottle of pop behind, I said be sure to grab it. After already being unpleasant, he said "or you can bring it to me." When I didn't move he said, "or not." True professionalism. These are exactly the type of guys that give contractors a bad name, especially with women. One should never assume what a woman does or does not know. Having decades of architecture experience behind me, I'm pretty sure I get this. Use your best judgment. Updated to add: he is now harassing me by phone. Updated based on the insane response: Ricky is an unbelievable storyteller. I have never read such horrifyingly bad lies, wow. I absolutely did not and never ever would make any comments about anyone's race whatsoever, holy cow. Guess he missed the rainbow flag in my window. When you gotta pull the race card because you are that unprofessional, that's pathetic. Yeah man, wow, you need some serious help if you feel the need to fabricate like this. Play it out for all to read, knock yourself out, it's pretty hilarious actually. I guess it's tough being called out a mansplainer with a short fuse. Oh and free estimates are part of your business; no one is obligated to buy so get a grip, my friend. And feel free to give my father-in-law a phone call, check on his life status. Red flags people, stay far far far away from this business.

It took over a month to complete, and another month for them to clean up after themselves. Overall he had 13 no-shows on scheduled work days. Ricky says this is fine because he got the work done eventually. If you like to be home when contractors are on your property and need to adjust your own work schedule this will be inconvenient. His team had to redo the steps three times but eventually had acceptable work. He took three weeks to come back to seal the concrete. He stopped responding to calls about cleaning concrete stains they left on my patio until he saw my reviews, then came and cleaned them. Ricky takes a lot of jobs, probably too many, and is very busy. Expect delays and frustration, but he'll eventually get your work done if you stay on him and hold him accountable.

They worked on a chimney crown, brickwork & minor tuckpointing above my garage. Very grateful as I had difficulty finding anyone to do any work on my home - apparently the pitch of the roof frightened many contractors off. Not Kerry!! I also used them for tuckpointing other buildings in the past & have been pleased with their work every time!

He came to my house and let me know what would be needed to get porch as good as new. Contract stated all rotted wood would be replaced and both porches would then be sanded primed and painted. Not only was the work not finished, the work that was done was sub par. Just a few months later, a lot of the paint has chipped off, boards have come lose and are coming apart. From the attached pictures you can see nothing was sanded or primed. I am not sure why the boards are already pulling up - but they are. The worst part is John Leith told me - "in writing" four times that he would come back and fix the issues: He was a "no show all our times" Below are his texts - From Oct 25 I will be back in the next couple days to take care of the stairs. Dec. 11 when boards pulled up For sure when the weather gets better. I'll send the guys back. No problem Leo. I'll stay in touch. Jan 28 No problem. Next couple weeks I'll take care of everything. no problem. I got backed up from the cold weather. I'll talk to you soon. Have a nice day. Lastly said he would be back Sunday Feb 15. No show. I'll be back at the property Sunday. Sorry been very busy with family stuff. "He never came back nor sent his crew" When I emailed him along with the pictures i posted below, his son, Vincent, said they have to check what our contract said they would do before addressing further. No where in the contract does it say they will receive payment for sup par and not completing work correctly. Lastly, when i drove by their listed address I could not find this business? Perhaps I missed it? I also added picture of address.

John and his crew have been fast, hard-working, and professional. What has been especially helpful is that the cleanup after the project has been very thorough, which is helpful with my neighbors. And, the roof on my 3-story house is not a simple project, but they made it look easy. One of my other neighbors has already asked me who did my roof and how did they do it so fast. Resil Home Improvements was the best priced and came with good recommendations. I took a chance on them and couldn't be happier. They did what they said they were going to do, when they said they were going to do it. They were professional and cleaned up after themselves after each day. Living through construction is hard so this is important. They offered financing options which I needed. They have a show room on 111th and Kedzie making it convenient for me to see samples. Pinterest was also wonderful for paint ideas and other details. My whole first floor was updated and is absolutely beautiful. I look forward to working with them next year when I tackle the outside. I feel obliged to share this wonderful outcome with you. If you have any type of home-improvement coming up, I strongly recommend you get three prices and include Resil in the bidding. They will not let you down. Thanks to my construction team Dave, Mike, Patrick, and Bartek. I'm so happy!

In fact, the Resil Team completed a full reconfiguration of our kitchen just ahead of Thanksgiving 2023. My wife and I set out to inventory local contractors for multiple home Improvements. Spring of 2023, we attended the Oak Lawn Home and Garden Show to speak with professionals in the industry. The team over at Resil were one of many vendors present for home and/or property construction. We left the event with a host of companies to choose from. We learned very quickly that contractors lose enthusiasm and interest when you actually do your homework prior to a major project. We chose Resil. The owner Mike, and his team were clear experts of this industry. We decided to start with the kitchen instead of our three bathrooms. From start to finish, the entire Resil Crew maintained a professionalism that was greatly appreciated. They arrived as scheduled and worked in rotation according to their particular craft and expertise. In closing, One Year Later, our reconfigured kitchen has hosted 2023 and 2024, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners; and it's still beautiful and functional! We gained a ton of storage space, our college and high school kids have enjoyed entertaining friends, but most importantly, my wife still raves about how our kitchen allows her to face our family and guest when preparing meals! We've shared Resil Home Improvements with neighbors and friends because their carpentry reflects their character. We're planning our next projects with Resil!
