Ordered to take out wings for the first time from role-play and while the wings were delicious. Portions are not huge and they forgot the ordered sauce so service was disappointing. It's pretty hectic with limited seating so the ambience is nothing to write home about.
The food was delicious. They source all their food from a local organic butcher in McLean -- you can immediately taste it when you take your first bite! This location is built mostly for take out orders, so the dine in option is limited and small, especially if you have a group larger than 5 or 6. However, easy garage parking that is free. They also have a ton of promotions on Uber Eats so highly recommend you take a look at ordering via that platform.
I used to love Roll Play, but it has gone downhill. It used to be so cute and funky inside and now, after a renovation, it's just dull and corporate. Staff is still very friendly and I appreciate their hours. I still love their magnum rolls (or whatever they are called these days). I ordered egg rolls recently and gone are the deliciously addictive, crisp appetizer that I once loved; now they are bland and limp. I'll probably still return, but it's just sad to see what has happened.
Came here with a friend and we decided to order via Uber eats because I saw they had a lot of good deals online. It was buy one get one free for the majority of the items. Of course the prices are a little marked up, but I think the deals were worth it. If you spend more than $25 you get a dessert trio or a chili set and we decided to get the mango Sago dessert. We also ordered the chicken rice bowl, which was good. It tasted very fresh and light with a lot of different vegetables. The spring rolls were hot and fresh, but I would probably pass the next time. I got the notification that my order was ready, but it still took a couple more minutes nonetheless it was still pretty good.
Great food, but pricey! This sandwich with beef was $24. Great flavors, but get your wallet ready!
It is hard to tell in this picture but Roll Play will load up your bowl with protein, noodles, and veggies. I got the beef combination pho and enjoyed all the different cuts of beef, especially the oxtail, so tender and flavorful. I grabbed oyster sauce and siracha but did not use it because the broth was seasoned SO WELL. I plan to come back soon for the oxtail bahn mi! This location recently changed their interior and now has plenty of seating inside. It is always clean and service is always swift and friendly. Don't worry about coming here when it is too hot outside because the AC is strong too. The mango sago dessert was not my favorite, texture was a little too slippery for me. However I did enjoy the coconutty/tart flavor and the oats in the bottom!
If your friends want to go out, but you're trying to stay on a diet, I think I would recommend that you go to Roll Play. The reason why is because you can just get a bunch of meat and summer rolls and it doesn't hurt your diet too much. While the prices are admittedly on the higher side (except for the summer and egg rolls) the flavor is good. The oxtail and American Wagyu is a bit of a buzz word dish in the sense that it just means that the meat that you're getting has a higher fat content (hence wagyu). Tapping said the meat is very tender, and it has a very mild meaty broth flavor. I honestly couldn't taste the difference between the beef brisket in my summer roll and the pulled oxtail in American Wagyu meat. The summer roll was filled with crunchy vegetables and came with a lovely spicy peanut sauce, but I would say that spicy peanut sauce was not very spicy at all. I almost thought that they just accidentally gave me regular peanut sauce. That being said, it is still a good and rich watery peanut sauce. The Vietnamese iced coffee is bold sweet and creamy, and it will make you have to use the restroom. There seems to be only one restroom, but it is well maintained. It is located off of 7 and that can be a little bit stressful because traffic is there is unrelenting and getting out is kind of annoying. However, there's a good amount of parking on off days a.k.a. a rainy Sunday.
Omg loving the new remodel and the 90s themed song track during lunch today! It seems less urban and more modern industrial vibes now. I love that there is always something new to try on their menu too. Today I ordered the banh mi dip (which is just a extra pho broth side). I typically order a side of pho broth to do this anyways so I love that they added an option for it to be combined on the menu. I was very excited to see on Uber Eats that they had more freebies with certain order limit. I had tried their slow oats creations a couple months ago which were fun to try but hit or miss for me. Today I scored chili crunch and more chili sate to cook with! I love scoring these roll play sauces to cook with and my friends always ask me about them when they come to my house. Great advertising Very tasty food! Everyone in my party enjoyed themselves and left happy and full!
Roll Play has become a preferred take-out option for Vietnamese fusion dishes. I think the kiosk self-service is great as you can choose exactly what you like, or you can order in advance. If you're not in the mood for pho, the summer rolls with pork belly or shrimp are yummy. This place has a casual and fun vibe. Be sure to ask for the Vietnamese dipping sauce if you're getting the summer rolls! The only downside is that indoor space is limited and a bit cramped (3 tables maximum) so it's much easier to do take-out. Also, parking is limited near the front of the restaurant but you can go to the garage (entrance just to the left of Roll Play) and have your ticket validated. Hope to return and try their beef or chicken pho at the restaurant during the winter months (at an off-peak time).
I have been a huge fan of Roll Play ever since they opened, and even though I left the DMV, I always hit it up when I visit. The quality of the food and portions are consistently good. It's great to see they now have other locations.
You have got to try the oxtail pho. It is absolutely divine! It comes with a good portion of pulled oxtail meat, and of course all of the customary veggies. I think that some of the juices from cooking the oxtail are added to the pho broth which just gives it this incredible depth of flavor. Despite the description, it's really not spicy. There's some chili flakes in the broth but it's way more for flavor than for spice. I don't like spicy food and I would tell you if it was spicy. The service was quick and the staff were really nice. They also offer free bottled water for customers, which is also nice. Parking is a little tricky. There are limited parking spaces in the parking lot, but the garage is free. Throughout the day you can also walk through the glass doors in the parking garage: once you exit the second set of glass doors, turn right and you'll be right at the restaurant. It's easier and safer than walking along the parking lot ramp to get to the restaurant.
This is very much a to go (fast food) spot for Vietnamese food. If you're looking for food on the go or delivery, it's a decent spot. Otherwise, I wouldn't really go out of my way to dine in here. For one, the spacing is pretty tight, but the overall aesthetic is also kind of gloomy. Service is okay. They take your order at the counter and then bring it to you. The rest is available to grab (plastic utensils, water, etc.). This is one of the sadder phos I've ever had, so definitely encourage others to try other dishes. There is a free parking garage, but it's a pretty small one.
We were a group of 11. All of us ordered different items .Very different Vietnamese food healthy and tasty . I liked the flavor and also Bahn Mi shrimp sandwich.Spring roll was ok.

Decent Vietnamese food here. Pho was a little more flavorful than most other places and had a richer texture to it. The bahn mi was on point and hit the spot. Ordering was unique in that you basically selected from an iPad menu, which I appreciated. Will definitely come back if I'm in the area in the future! read more
My husband and I ventured here for a day date before an AMC movie, on a Saturday around noon. I chose it based on the reviews and the fact that we love Vietnamese food - pho, subs, young coconut, spring rolls. We got a little lost using the GPS. Siri took us to the tall building with the Gold's Gym, but the restaurant is located in front of the building. Make sure to park in the garage because there is no parking in the front. The restaurant is small, limited seating. Also, the seating isn't very comfortable. The seats don't have back support and you're a little cramped sitting next to other people. Nevertheless, the food is spot on. You place your order using a touch screen - super cool and efficient. You get your food in good timing. We had the following: BÁNH MÌ - lemongrass beef, pickled medley, cilantro, lettuce, cucumber, Vietnamese mayo (I didn't think the meat was seasoned enough but overall the sub was yummy) BÁNH MÌ - caramel pork belly, pickled medley, cilantro, lettuce, cucumber, scallions, fried egg, Sriracha mayo (egg was overcooked but pork was well seasoned and sub was delish) Veggie egg rolls - delish Young coconut - good, comes in coconut shell We will definitely return to try everything. read more

This place overall was nice. Firstly, ordering is all on the computer with a very sophisticated system which made it really easy! Especially if you've had a long day and just feel too tired to even open your mouth to make conversation. The food was good - pho was on the salty side. I liked the fried rice the best! The only down fall was that 2 pieces of hard plastic was found in my coworker's pho bowl...they apologized and gave him a new bowl. Just a warning, but I feel like it was just a one off. read more
This is one of the go-to lunch spots for my coworkers and I. My entire team loves ordering from here. We probably order from here at least once a week! We will also do a double trip and stop by teas'n you afterwards for some dessert. So we are loyal customers to the Happy Endings Hospitality group. Today, I got promoted and my supervisor decided to order everyone lunch from here. It was quite a big order which we placed online. It said it wouldn't be ready for pick up until 11:45, but that's far too late, so I called in myself and requested to pick it up sooner. The guy on the phone was extremely nice about it and said "no problem, we'll get started on it now". I was extremely impressed at the customer service. We ordered a bunch of things from pho, banh mi, vermicelli bowl and magnum rolls. I always order the magnum roll (3 huge rolls) with chicken, no noodles, no lettuce and spicy peanut sauce. Each roll is extremely MASSIVE, they don't call it a magnum roll just for fun, I tell you that much! I get full off 1.5, but I force myself to finish the second one completely and usually save the third for a "second lunch" or late afternoon snack :P Today I decided on the collosal shrimp magnum rolls with Vietnamese vinaigrette instead, and wow! This paired so nicely. It was so flavorful, yet light. Genuinely do love this place, however, I am giving it a 3 stars today because disappointingly, I did find a strand of hair in my roll. Hopefully, the next time we order I won't be finding things where they don't belong! read more

Heading to Vietnam? Before venturing off US shores, checkout Roll Play! Fresco Similar to the first time you fell in love, you can't keep your eyes off of her/him! Between the mysterious woman with wavy hair and the fishing boat on calm, Vietnamese seas, I was spellbound by this exotic, far away land the drawing was projecting. Music Flattering the ravishing Mural, Roll Play had some electric club music playing, which made me feel both energized/happy. Not ashamed to say it, but my head was rolling a bit---hence the name "Roll Play". Is technology taking over for humans? This is the 21st Century, man...no cashiers here! At the counter, you place your order through tablets. No worries old-timers....the screens are navigable. Flank Steak rolls Steak was zestful; Lemongrass was very much accounted for. You could taste/smell it in every bit. Goes well with the Vinaigrette sauce. Are you ready to roll? No way! Roll Play has nostalgic food/music/décor all wrapped into one! read more
Roll Play Grill was awesome. We started off with some summer rolls made with tofu. They were very large. The portion was shocking, but it didn't disappoint. They were tasty and the tofu was cooked perfectly. I got a bowl of beef pho and it was delicious. My only complaint would be that they did not sift the oil out of the broth enough before serving; however, the taste was so great, I'm not docking a star. My partner had a veggie rice bowl. I tasted it and if I wasn't so dead set on always ordering pho, I'd order it myself. The bowl it's served in would benefit from being more wide that deep but that's minor. The place is very trendy and we enjoyed every bite we ate. We agreed we'd be back again. read more

Finally glad I got to check this place out! The portions were huge and it was very tasty. Roll Play Grill is a fast casual Vietnamese place. They have several touch screens where you place your order. They got bowls, pho, rolls, and several other items that are all customizable. The touch screen is user friendly. In addition, an employee helped me with any initial questions I had since it was my first time ordering here. The employee was very knowledgeable about the menu and helpful. I ordered a fully loaded bowl with chicken, veggie eggrolls, and a side tofu pho. I had a $12 coupon which was pretty clutch, so it cost most $5 and change. I had the vietnamese vinaigrette which came on the side. It is a light sauce which I enjoyed. When they say fully loaded, the bowl truly is fully loaded. No cutting corners here. There is cucumber, noodles, peppers, bean sprouts, and several other items in the bowl. The side pho had plenty of noodles and tofu, which was delicious. Roll Play Grill is a small place, with mostly hightop tables and hard seats. Quite frankly, it feels like more of a takeout place. They have a modern decor with nice lighting, but it just isn't too comfortable to sit in there for too long. Nevertheless, the food was plentiful and terrific, so I will definitely return when I am in the tysons area. read more

Finally gave this place a try when my friends from Virginia Beach visited. Three of them are Yelp Elite members, so I said why not. I ordered the triple x fried rice and was happy. My friends said the Banh mi and rolls are good, but that the pho could be better. I'm not a fan of the happy endings hospitality group, but this place was good. Almost forgot to mention, the ordering system was easy to use. read more

Tried this place for the first time several weeks ago. Favorite was the caramelized pork belly roll; had just the perfect mix of meat-to-fat ratio so that the bite was juicy and flavorful. I like HEH group a lot, and this concept did not disappoint. read more
Roll Play is one of my favorite banh mi places in the Mclean area (better than the Banh Mi places at Eden). The banh mi with grilled pork belly is quite tasty. The pho, while good, isn't something I would go out of my way to come here for. Parking is easy too with a garage behind the restaurant or if you're lucky, a few parking spots in the front of the restaurant. Where have you been all my life? I needed some roll play desperately ^^. All jokes aside though, this place is one serious powerhouse in the D.C food scene right now. My niece quoted that "this is what I had imagined the future of Vietnamese food to be", I completely concur. There has been a problem lately where new, hip joints are opening in upscale parts of town that's all bark and no bite. You also have amazing home-cook style restaurants that's dead smack in the middle of the hood and even though the food is great, it's not always a perfect dining date location. Once in a blue moon, you get something like Roll Play, where you get authentic food in a modern, super fun setting where you're proud to introduce to your friends and family. The restaurant is very fun to eat in, there are funky decorations all over the place, including some quirky Vietnamese quotes on the wall and a decorative bicycle model out on the porch. The ordering system is super smart. You know exactly what you're ordering through their touch screen menu. There are parkings available in the garage, if you're here before 6pm, ask for a token on your way out, it's free. On to the actual food. We ordered pork belly banh mi with eggs and Vietnamese mayo, we added a side of beef pho. I gotta say, at first I thought it was kind of pricey for a $10 banh mi, plus I was skeptical with getting pho in an Americanized place like this. Let me tell you, once the banh mi came out, I was surprised they didn't charge $15! Holy cow! That's a huge sandwich! The perfectly marinated, falling apart, buttery pork belly is overflowing out of the bread, this is a banh mi on steroid. My first bite was packed with sauce, meat, veggies, bread and egg. Oh man was it good! I immediately moved on the my beef noodles because now I know they don't play with their food. I was blown away! The broth was as authentic as any pho restaurants in Philly, New York, or Cali. It did not taste like something you ordered from a touch screen menu, it felt like a bowl someone's grandma cooked for you. We met Ashley when we first got there and told her that we came all the way from Philly to try Roll Play. Half way through our meal, she brought out some egg rolls for us to try. I was so into my sandwich I didn't pay attention to what she said about the egg rolls. When I finally got to try it, I thought it was one of the best egg rolls I've ever had. It was only then that my niece mentioned Ashley said they were vegan egg rolls!! Oh my tofu! It was good! I had to bring out my phone flashlight to make sure there was no meat in the rolls, they were that good! Ashley also came back to check on us and gave us an extra bowl of beef broth and an order of pork egg roll just so I can compare it to the vegan one. Honestly, there was no difference, the vegan one even tasted slightly better since it was lighter. This was one of the best food experiences I've had in D.C. This is the kind of business that caters to their customers. I feel valued and respected in the restaurant. My food was handled with love and I feel at home eating here. I sound like a Happy Endings Hospitality stalker, and maybe I kinda am, but I am a big fan. Roll Play Grill was one of the last 2 of their promising restaurants I needed to try, so I finally made my way over for dinner on a Thursday night. The location is a little intimidating. Right on a very busy Route 7, it looks impossible to get to. They have a garage behind the strip mall, and I think it may be free. But I got SUPER lucky and right place right timed the only parking space right in front that was reserved for Roll Play customers only. Stalker privileges. Inside, its fairly small. They have 3 or 4 high top communal tables, and I think a couple two-tops. It wasn't overly packed for a weeknight, but quite a few people ordered to-go, so that might be the move for next time. Some fun industrial decor and one wall covered entirely by a large mural reminiscent of another HEH establishment made good use of this small space. At the counter, they have two touch-to-order computers. Convenient, but also right in front of the kitchen so any questions that the machines can't answer, the folks behind the counter are happy to address. They offer a casual and modern take to Vietnamese food: banh mi sandwiches, pho and rice noodle bowls, and rolls both fried or soft and rolled with rice paper. Everything customizable on the computer including your meat/protein (they have chicken, steak, pork belly, shrimp and tofu) and topping selection (too many to make an aside - please see proper menu). I went for the Eggs-Rated Banh Mi with Pork Belly. Two hard fried eggs with their recommended toppings of pickled medley, cucumber, mint, lettuce, cilantro, bean sprouts, fried shallots, bell peppers, crushed peanuts, and scallions (no jalapeños, please). I added avocado and MAN this was AMAZING. The bread was toasted and crisp, but still soft enough where I wasn't cutting my mouth. (French baguettes scare me sometimes because of this). The pork belly had great flavor and wasn't too fatty or hard - the perfect consistency in my sandwich full of 8 other textures. So so tasty. And because a meal with no sides is no meal at all, I also got a side of their Pork Egg Rolls - 4 to an order. I ate only a couple of these but they were a good size and perfectly crispy. The closest to my Mom's Filipino egg rolls I've tried anywhere - actually maybe identical - so you know I loved these. HEH Restaurants do this to me every time - I go once and then think about going again for a straight week after my visit. It's only been 4 days, so please give me some time. But know that you'll see me back there again very soon. read more

This review is mainly for the pho. It seems like their specialty here is the bahn mi, but I really wanted a nice bowl of soup on a cold day. The beef in the pho was so over cooked and not flavorful. The pho broth wasn't bad, would have been okay if the meat could pull the dish together. It was also very overpriced for a small bowl of pho -- could easily pay way less for a bigger bowl of pho at an authentic restaurant. The egg rolls that I got for free by checking in on yelp were really good! Right out of the oven, hot and crispy. Another person in my group got the bahn mi sandwich and I had a bite. That was definitely pretty good and what people come here for. Would probably recommend getting that and steering clear of the pho! I think they do their fusion well with the bahn mi, but their pho doesn't cut it for me. Service was also good! They have a touch screen ordering menu and then they bring you your food. I had some older people in my group that had some troubles, and the servers were very patient and helpful with them. They also did a good job in handling the large crowd during lunch hour. No worries for parking -- they have a small parking lot shared with other businesses out front that fills quickly, but you can park in the attached parking garage and they will validate your ticket for free. read more
Really good Viet food in the Tyson area. It's a bit more of a modern take on the traditional food but they did it right. I ended up getting a pork belly banh mi and a spicy oxtail pho. This was way too much food for one person but I didn't have any regrets because it was delicious. read more

Roll play is AMAZING!! I can see why Roll Play Grill is the top rated restaurant on yelp. When you first walk in,everything is so modern and the ordering system was very simple and easy to use. Roll play is my go-to Vietnamese restaurants whenever i'm in the Tysons Area. Their notable dishes include, the magnum rolls, bowls, banh mi, and pho! I tried all of the dishes, and I have no complaints at all, as they're all very delicious. They also have late night hours which includes a secret menu on the weekends!! read more
SUMMARY: #Greatness. Expectations are set high when you meander into a restaurant with 4.5 stars and 800+ reviews. But as a Vietnamese foodie, I confidently stand by my five-star rating. ENVIRONMENT: This restaurant is modern, efficient, and everything a millennial could want. The ordering process was streamlined with an easy to use kiosk with Instagram-ready photos to describe each menu item. The restaurant is small but the ambiance is cool and impactful. MENU: For a tiny restaurant, Roll Play does a great job of capitalizing on the Chipotle-style menu. Choose HOW you want your food: rolls, soup, noodle bowl, etc. Choose WHAT you want in your food (protein, veggies, etc) - which makes this place perfect for easily customizable choices (perfect for picky eaters and also guarantees that your food is always made just for you) WHAT I ATE: I haaaaad to get variety. So, I ordered the ---- Spring Rolls with both the caramelized pork belly AND colossal garlic shrimp: These rolls are SO much bigger than any other Vietnamese spring rolls I've ever seen. Don't let your hungry eyes fool you. One portion (3 rolls) is more than sufficient. I disassembled one of the spring rolls and both proteins were delicious and flavorful enough to be served by themselves. Surprise ingredients were mango and crispy egg roll skin. Genius additions if you ask this Asian. ---- side of oxtail pho: clean, authentic, and flavorful. Not too rich given the oxtail vs the usual flank steak. But just warm, comforting goodness, in the perfect size. ---- Vietnamese coffee: I mean, let's be honest, you can't really go wrong drinking a glass of delicious iced liquid crack. I love this place. Any time I have to come to Tyson's, I always come here! There's a reason this place has so many great reviews - the food is amazing and the portions are huge so come hungry' The sandwiches have authentic flavour - and what's great is that you can customise your toppings right there on the order screen. Note that they're always very busy and there's not much available seating but I've noticed most people order takeout. If you can't snag a parking spot out front, no worries because there's plenty of parking in the garage. Bring your ticket with you to validate (they've got a machine on the counter). Definitely try the Triple D rolls (pork, shrimp, and beef) or the Magnum rolls - awesome for sharing. read more

Tried Roll Play by chance because it was getting pretty late and this place opened until 2AM. Oh my goodness. Two people, 4 different types of food - destroyed. Yelp offered two free crispy rolls for checking in so that was an unexpected bonus. We ordered caramelized pork belly banh mi, triple x fried rice, small size of the spicy oxtail pho. The pho broth was delicious, had a decent kick and the meat literally melted in your mouth. Fried rice came with a good amount of cilantro and perfectly cooked egg (runny yolk), which really set it apart, but even without it the rice was well-seasoned and delicious. The banh mi (unfortunately not pictured) - the pork belly was juicy and the vegetables were crisp, creating a good balance. Also the huge sriracha dispenser was something else. What is the parking situation (knowing how congested Tyson's Corner is)?
There's not a lot of parking right in front, but there is a parking garage to the left that they will validate parking for! Just remember to have them validate it before you leave the restaurant.
