My RV transmission decided to kill itself during a winter storm. I was towed 70 miles, ended up at Rogers transmission. The transmission had to be completely rebuilt. I was stuck there for a week but Roger always kept me updated, he and his employees went way out of the way to help me out and accommodate me and my service pup. Travelling from Ontario, Canada to California by truck we ran into a problem with the trucks transmission. We were recommended to take the truck to Rogers Transmission in Eureka. We are very thankful we did. The dealership had told us up to 10 days to replace the transmission and Roger and his nephew were able to do it for us in less than 48 hours. Cant thank you enough for your service and for getting us on the road so quickly. If its service you want Rogers Transmission is the place. BTW Roger we had no issues returning home. We have had Roger help us with 2 vehicles, and couldn't be happier. Our trusted mechanic first referred us to Roger earlier this year when we had the transmission go out on our 2010 Rav 4. We found Roger to be clear in explaining the issue and our options. Our ultimate decision was to go forward with replacing the transmission given the otherwise-reliable attributes of the vehicle. At no point did we feel we were pressured into this. When the job was complete, we found the team had even addressed a few minor issues (at no extra charge). Just this week, we had an issue with our other vehicle and, from the symptoms, assumed it might be transmission problems. Roger checked out the vehicle for the day and pronounced the transmission as fine - turns out its a rattle with our exhaust. And then when I tried to pay the diagnostic fee he refused as it was an easy assessment and we had been prior customers. Wow! Roger's service and honesty will bring us back to him. OWNER LIED in response to my previous review. A deposit was not due. When we asked what we could do to get the car officially done after being there for 7 weeks (when we were promised it would be done in 3), he said we needed to respect his business and know they'd get it done when they got it done. The actual professional mechanic we took our car to after Roger's happily released the back to us to prove a point said that no mechanic with a part that costs $4K would let you take your car at that point. I'm happy he lied publicly on my first comment cause it just proves he isn't an honest business owner. PS we actually had to pay the new mechanic upfront for the transmission which was actually a green light for me. They are truly professionals, honest about timing and know their stuff. The fact that Roger's lied in their reply affirms my suspicions and experience that they are not only amateurs - but unprofessional. Sad I can't leave a ZERO review. Our 2015 Silverado with less than 35,000 miles all of a sudden had an issue with the engine, after a recent servicing at the dealership...To make a long story short, it sat at that dealership from June to September with little or no correspondence until we had to contact GM to get a NEW motor...after they finally got it installed, they then say the transmission was blown, too, and they didn't know when or IF they could find one!!! By now I am DONE with them!! That is why I contacted Roger's Transmission!! Roger is the real deal!!! He's honest, fast and fair!! My Car was here for Three Months. I drove it in- Only thing wrong was it wouldnt go in N or P. $300 estimate for a parking pin. Two weeks after this review something came loose in the transmission. I saw smoke I in my mirror while driving on the highway. I pulled over, hopped out with my dog, purse, and fire extinguisher. When I called to notify them (had a one year warranty) the owner laughed at me when I mentioned the fire extinguisher. If some of you don't know transmission fluid is highly flammable. Since I was near redding I couldn't get it towed to their shop and he had me take it to a friends nearby who used to work for him. Was find my still shifted rough in the following months. I've had two flushes since at jiffy lube's. They don't take anything in apart, just flush fluid. I was driving along on the hwy a month ago and it caught on fire. While it's been two years since the rebuild I believe there was something wrong with it from the start. Transmissions are something that should have extra care out into because they are so crucial and I really believe it had to do with this rebuild. The vehicle was over 30's old and I still speak to the previous owner who had it for 14 of those years never had such serious issues with the original transmission. The shop owner also tried to blamed it on a manifold leak. There wasn't oil leaking at the time and I also doubt that would catch on fire so quickly. read more

Took my vehicle into Rogers because it would not shift out of 2nd gear. Roger said that the transmission was totally shot and it would cost $4,000 or more to repair. Took it to Sound of Silence in Eureka, CA who found that a $110 cable that ran from the throttle to the transmission had seized. Replaced the cable and paid under $300 and it's working great. Car talk was a radio show with incredible car repair advise. It became almost a community with listeners and hosts. Two brothers from Boston with PhDs from Harvard. Very funny. They have a section to find car repair in local area. Anytime I've had to find repair places the listeners suggestions have always been spot on. You know when you get to the place it has a feeling of workmanship, authority, professionalism and honesty. If you need trouble shooting for the transmission Roger's the place to go. Great place friendly, quick, honest. We are headed to Texas in our "Antique" Motorhome, as Roger calls it, lol and he put the scope on it, came up with the sensor being bad could not find a new one on Saturday so found a used one, no charge. Bad business practices. Michelle (the office receptionist) is very nice but the business practice is not transparent. I took the van to the shop after a mechanic from the gas station who told me the transmission is leaking. My transmission was rebuilt at this Rogers Automotive in March 2015, so the gas station mechanic told me I should take it back to the same place that had worked on my transmission to see what they can do. I had forgotten the terrible service from my first experience with Rogers Automotive so there I went...I took my van to Rogers Automotive. When I stop by at the shop and told Michelle my van's transmission is leaking, and RA's mechanic took a look at it and she reported to me that it is bad and it needed to work on right away. I asked her how much will it cost and she said the owner will work with me on the price since I've been there before and rushes me out, told me that it needed to be fixed right away or else it may "blow up". I was alarmed and said okay and I asked if it will be done "today", same day and said yes. She called me later to tell me that the crack can't be seal and the transmission has to be taken out to really fix it. I asked how much is it going to be? She reply the same, that the owner will work with me on the cost and not to worry about it. It stretch out from Monday to maybe Wednesday, to Thursday and then Friday. Finally, I got to pick it up on Friday. Michelle is very friendly and talk about family and what not. I guess she was preparing us for the cost. Honestly, her stance is a bit awkward. This is their specialty so they should be able to give me a ballpark of the cost before hand but they don't prepare their customers well by unwilling to do that. I perceived she is used to confrontation, ready for a fight or something because my van was still in the garage and the key was kept back there. I saw the cost, which was high for a repair but what can you do? I was a little over a thousand. The gas station mechanic who looked at it in the first place quoted us for around low $700. I didn't blink and I was gracious because what can I do? Michelle and Rogers Automotive never gave me the option to get estimates from other places or to do work from other places. They stretches out the days which made it tough for my work and business. They didn't prepare me for the cost and held my van in hostage if I don't pay. They put in a position not to be able to say no. In a way, it's manipulative. A shady way of doing business. I don't recommend this place. I'm not coming back. read more

I had my car towed to this business to get a new transmission. I came from San Diego to crescent city to see my dad for the first time been 17 years and My car gave up on me (transmission) and I told Roger I need the car by sat morning! ended up getting lied to, as to when it'll be ready, nevertheless over charged. Heading back home to Las Vegas with my boys the transmission failed just outside of Eureka and was towed to Roger's Transmission. The quality of service I received was exceptional and merits noting. A friendly, family owned business with integrity. I thought I would be stuck in Eureka for transmission repairs for several days but, 'no,' they had me patched up and on the road within hours. Roger said that 'yes' the car needs transmission work but I would make it home where the work could be done. Sure enough, we made it home. Rogers replaced my transmission in our superduty about six months ago. He advised me to install a new cooler along with it. The truck shifts better then it did before and it is staying cooler when towing our trailer up and down the coast. We couldn't be happier with the service provided by Roger. read more

I've got to give these guys, the mechanics anyways three stars for their mechanical knowledge and abilities... But I was Mislead as to when they were actually going to work on the car. I had it towed up there from the south part of the county . I am single and extremely dependent on my car because there is no transportation down here and being an hour from town without a car for three weeks especially when I was not told to expect that amount of time was unacceptable . I was respectful and called as little as possible. My calls were just to find out if anything happened with my car and if there was an estimate of when it would be ready. The mechanics were all as friendly and helpful as they could be but Roger, the owner and manager was often rude and short on the phone. I just was given a vague we're trying to get to it next couple of days. This went on for two weeks. I was finally told that my car was being worked on and I had already been given an estimate which seemed high but when I checked around it was just a little higher than some places . Once they worked on it it took seven working days . When I saw the actual labor hours, 12, I was a little shocked that it took that long. Things seem to speed up when Roger was not in the shop. I am used to first come first served kind of places but they seem to have another agenda that I never could figure out. It didn't seem to include me whatever it was. The last five days that they worked on it Roger was not around and the phone calls were much more pleasant and informative. I would say if you are a local I mean north county you may be treated fairly in terms of time. If you are not go somewhere else but if you have the time I believe they're very good mechanics. The thing that puzzles me was the loyalty they all seem to show Roger and loyalty cannot be bought is earned through time . So I perhaps am misjudging Roger but not with myself . I was clearly mislead and rudely treated by Roger, I have to stress though by no one else. Roger is the boss and they follow his orders.
