If I could rate this location a 0 I would. They are SCAMERS!! My husband and I went to trade in our phones, first they gave my husband a "new" iPhone which broke as soon as we got home, we took it to Apple and they advised we return it to the store immediately as it was clearly not new and the innerworkings were broken (nothing we had done). Then I get a bill for over $500 each that said our phones were not returned to Rogers. When we called with the tracking information we had been given showing that our phones had arrived, it became clear that they had sent them elsewhere, NOT to a Rogers location. This Rogers store is located inside Sherway Gardens in the west side of the mall across from Hudson's Bay and beside Abercrombie. This is a pretty large Rogers store. Years ago they used to be by the north west entrance but that entire section of Sherway has been changed with a new addition. Now this newer and larger location is both spacious and modern. Rogers has a lot of consumer service offerings such as cable TV, home phone (through IP), internet, home security, and of course cellular phone services. The store is laid out in such a way to feature the mobile devices in touch and feel displays with the main service counter at the back of the store. On this visit I was seeking an additional cable TV box since I recently switched back to Rogers. In the past the option was there to be able to outright purchase the cable boxes whether they were just regular TV receivers or PVR type boxes. These days it seems the cable boxes are 4K boxes but if you don't have the 4K service they're at minimum an HD box. Gone are the days of standard definition tv (SD). I owned boxes because I didn't want to rent them however now I was told there is no more buying of boxes but renting only. While I'm not exactly thrilled about this forced policy, it's not the end of the world. I'd only buy the standard boxes which were about 250 and they came with a 2 year guarantee. If I were to rent the box for about 12-13 bucks a month and pay forever, I'd never own it. Now with buying it for 250 with a 2 year guarantee but I get to keep the box as mine, it worked out to be the same and if it failed before 2 years I'd get another. In the long run it was better to own in my opinion. PVR boxes were basically double so 500-600 bucks is a lot and the rental is 25 a month give or take. That's a lot for a monthly rental. Personally I don't record TV so a PVR just isn't for me. Now that I have no choice but to rent cable boxes at the very least you never have to worry about it failing as they can be swapped out and if newer boxes come out they can also be swapped out. One thing I noticed is that Rogers customer service is so much better now. I was with Rogers for my home services for 13 years before a switch to Bell which was purely for money savings. Bell was fine for a year but they wouldn't really give me a price break so I ended up switching back to Rogers who was very aggressive with their most recent promotions. I was hoping to use one of my old cable boxes with this reconnection with Rogers but after trying it seemed my old box wasn't working properly so I needed to get another box and in this case it has to be a rental. The customer service when calling about an additional box was great. I spoke to Andrew at the store and he explained the entire situation about the cable boxes and explained the options I would have between a 4k non PVR box and a 4k PVR box. Although there's been a transition getting back into the Rogers ecosystem so far it's been reasonable with the amount of people I've had to speak to about getting my phone ported back to Rogers from Bell, the issue I had with my old failed TV box and getting a replacement rental to other issues. Bell I find is pretty impossible to get techs to come out to the house after business hours. I mean most people during 9-5 give or take and time to get home. I like the fact Rogers has techs willing and able to come out as soon as the next business day between 6-8pm. Most working people would want windows like this during the work week. That and I like the fact when I call Rogers now the wait times are not that long and the person on the other end can be heard clearly and concisely and they seem to really understand the issues and are quickly able to troubleshoot them. I didn't like calling for service with Bell recently because I couldn't hear the person on the other end clearly or I simply couldn't understand what they were saying. I mean there's a real difference in quality right there. You'd think since Bell's roots are telephony that calling them for help wouldn't be a garbled hard to understand mess. Rogers is by far not like that. I'm going to see how things go for the next two years with Rogers and maybe if their pricing is competitive at the end of this 2 year agreement (not a contract by the way) then perhaps they'll convince me to stay on board. Rogers is going through a Big Push to switch everyone over to their 'Ingite Tv'. Customers who have regular HD cable/internet will be forced to change their service. My current TV/Internet package through Rogers is $125 per month. I was recently informed by a Rogers rep. that my package has been discontinued as a result of some CRTC ruling (NOT). They advised my new rate for the same package will be over $300 per month! but if I switch to Ignite it would ONLY(!?) cost me $240 per month. Along with this, I will have to pay $250 for 2 technicians to come to my home and install the new Ignite. Rogers say that it will take the Techs 3-5 hrs to do the install and it would take 3-4 weeks to arrange the visit. Highway robbery Rogers! This type or corporate greed is unacceptable! Canadians get ripped off enough by service providers, this is a prime example. Time to stick an old antenna on the roof! ( Too bad most community bylaws won't allow this option) read more
