I hired Oscar (of Rodscape) to resurface the parking area behind my house. I originally found him on Thumbtack in 2017 and hired him again (2026). He is an easy person to work with. The price was reasonable and he does what he says he'll do. My parking area is made of decomposed granite. Over time it can get dirty (moss) and form puddles, so 9 years later I called him again. Oscar once again did a great job. I would definitely recommend him for landscaping projects. read more

Oscar is professional and very responsive. I had a hard time looking for the best landscapers to do our front lawn Asap due to city requirements but could not find the right one and whom is actually licensed. Then I found Rodscape, gave them a call and got a response same day. Oscar will listen to your situation and help out best he can. I recommend Rodscape for your landscaping needs. read more

Oscar and his crew are great, reliable, and very kind. These aren't the kind of people to simply do a job to finish it, they genuinely care about the quality of their work. Oscar even went out of his way to get us the best compost in the Bay Area. I'm so happy with their work that I told all my neighbors about them! read more

Oscar was the first to reply to my (admittedly desperate) request a quote to finish a patio job I thought I could do myself... which my back told me wasn't going to happen after the first day of digging and leveling soil. He came Friday to do an estimate and scheduled to start Monday. I needed the patio finished (removing soil, adding weed fabric, drain rock and DG) in time to host a party this weekend and he pulled a couple of his guys off another job to get it done with plenty of time to spare. Not only was I impressed with their work and the timing, I found Oscar and his team pleasant to work with and accommodating. Wouldn't hesitate to call again. read more

Superb personalized attention from Oscar and the crew at Rodscape! They always worked to ensure our satisfaction and were great at communicating with us on the progress of our project and any changes needed. They did an incredible job on the front and back yards at our Peninsula home and we've received a lot of compliments on the landscaping. We give our highest recommendation to Rodscape! read more

if there is a 10 star, I would give this guy a 10. They were courteous and respectful. They quote that the job will go for week and a half but they finish the job in 4 1/2 days, fast and accurate. I will definitely tell all my friends. Highly recommende. read more

D. Oscar Don't Worry Vargas will take care of you. Lovely guy, showed when he said, did what he said, kept to his bid even when I asked him to trim my Australian tree fern (added work scope). He installed a new irritation system, and I now have a fully irrigated yard!! , Flower pots everywhere, deck, front planters all auto water!!! I'm still picking up small pieces of tubing here and there but they're small..... I should have done this year's ago! Admittedly I didn't shop bids. After reading all his reviews I decided to let everyone else's price shopping stand for mine. read more

Rodscape - Landscaping Near Me - San Francisco, California

The original design of our backyard blocked a lovely view of SF. It featured a lawn overgrown with weeds and a dilapidated fence with a virtually useless deck. Oscar's team came in and put in a new redwood fence, deck and a high-utility hardscape with some planting accents. Oscar's price was fair. He and his guys were always prompt, courteous and friendly. They finished the job in 3 weeks, which would probably have been faster if not for our last minute design discussions. I am very happy with the result and would highly recommend Oscar and his crew for any landscaping needs you have. Word of advice that is valid for any contracting work: be as clear on your design up front as you can be. This causes less headaches for everyone involved and prevents unwanted surprises for both parties. I'd definitely look to Oscar for any future landscaping needs. read more

Oscar did awesome! He was took an area of our yard that was an eyesore and worked collaboratively with us to make it a cool centerpiece. He was responsive, professional and honored his quote. You can see my concept drawing and what he came up with. The bench storage and succulent planter replace a decrepit cinder block bench and tree stump and will give us years of enjoyment. Thanks Oscar! read more

Amazing from start to finish. Oscar was extremely pleasant and easy to work with. Very professional but also approachable and flexible. They took changes in idea in stride. The photos of the planter boxes are in my front yard, they also tackled several retaining walls, steps, deer prevention, and ivy overgrowth in the back yard. Beautiful little extras were also put in with a lovely slate bench "just because". The slate patio also was placed beautifully to fit an unusually shaped space. I'd highly recommend Oscar. read more

It's an absolute pleasure to recommend David as his work and professionalism is truly exceptional. He transformed our barren and unsightly front yard into a beautifully landscaped oasis. I can't tell you how many times we've been complimented by both neighbors and random people walking by about how lovely our garden is. Our situation was not an easy or straightforward one. Anyone who knows anything about the Sunset district knows that there are significant problems with moles/gophers and poor quality soil. David expertly dealt with these issues by mole/gopher-proofing our front yard and we've never had a problem since. Prior to working with David, I painstakingly researched and spoke with a broad range of landscapers. I'm very particular and I was thoroughly pleased with every aspect of David's work. His work ethic, reliability and professionalism is unparalleled and he truly understands how to provide a high level of customer service. He went out of his way to walk us through every step of the process. I wholeheartedly recommend David and look forward to working with him in the future on landscaping our backyard! I've recommended him to anyone I know who is looking to get work done. Please note that he does way more than landscaping/gardening. He can also do concrete, walkways, etc. He also has an extensive network of reliable professionals he partners with if you have any other home improvement needs. read more

Oscar came to the house and listened to our ideas. After the quote we refined the final proposal. He always consulted with us to make sure we were on the same page. He offered different plant ideas, colors, sizes and pet friendly options. Always accessible and easy to work with. The job was finished quickly and professionally. We couldn't be happier with our new backyard. read more

Got quotes from 4 people and Oscar's was very competitive. I met a number of contractors over the past 12 months and he is one of the few I would confidently refer to anyone. His work is high quality, great communicator and quick work. He finished ahead of schedule. He is also very creative. After giving him some broad strokes of what I envisioned in the backyard, he took it from there with options and ideas as we went along. read more

Oscar is your man if you need any landscaping and/or deck, fence work done. I had him tear out a terrible side yard in the Sunset and now have a gorgeous fence and deck with beautiful landscaping thanks to Oscar and his team. Oscar and his team always came on time and even finished before the estimated completion date. Best of all he came on budget! You can see the work in the collections on photos that he has on here. My place is the one with the horizontal fence with door and deck. I get so many compliments on how great everything turned out! read more

Oscar installed a French drainage system in our backyard in October 2018. It was an absolute pleasure working with Oscar! He was courteous, professional, and efficient. He took the time to explain everything that was planned and gave us a couple options to choose from, everything fairly priced. He was always prompt to respond. We would definitely look to work with Oscar again for future landscaping needs! Highly recommended!!! read more

We have used Oscar (owner of Rodscape) for over a year and he is fantastic. Very reliable, responsible, and does a great job at making our backyard look great. We have a very large deck with palm trees, bamboo, and jasmin. Oscar comes monthly and does great maintenance. He is always on time as well. Prices are reasonable too! He is very knowledgeable in landscaping, offering his expertise regularly. He also can set up an irrigation system, so we don't have to water all the time. We are very happy with his company. read more
