We became aware of Vigorous Landscaping on a morning walk because of a large sign on a neighbor's lawn showing a rendering of what their yard was about to look like. Daily the photo became a reality and convinced us to contact Joel Lopez the owner/representative of Vigorous Landscaping. We walked our backyard the property, told him our wants, he told us his ideas and we came up with a plan. The following estimate was professional and complete. Joel assisted with the selection of materials...not out of a book but at a design center with numerous actual samples. On the appointed day the team arrived early ...ready to go. They were skilled and productive. As the days went on they listened to our on the fly questions with patience and never lost their sense of humor. They worked impressively hard with pride in their workman ship. The final result speaks for its self. Through it all Joel was always available with a smile and help when needed and the job was completed on schedule and on budget... We love our new outdoor area and give a five star thank you to Joel and his fabulous crew!... read more

Joel, who heads Vigorous Landscaping, was recommended to us by our garden designer and he could not have made a better recommendation. Joel was a pleasure to work with - personable, knowledgeable, ethical, focused on the details, upfront on the communication, and very fair with the pricing. Joel followed the design to the letter when possible, and had creative suggestions where the design ran into issues because of the property. His team was excellent and worked very full days. And when it came time for them to leave each day they took great care to have the property cleaned and all of the patio areas usable. Overall it was a terrific experience and I can highly recommend Vigorous Landscaping. read more

I needed help making my vision become reality, and the Vigorous Landscaping team did not disappoint! Finding a reliable and trustworthy contractor is always a challenge. I had spent a couple years scoping out various landscaping companies to tackle the next phase of my project. Vigorous Landscaping was at the top of my list based on reviews, project portfolio, and style. But I chose to move forward with them because of their dedication and willingness to give me exactly what I wanted. The first phase of my project was completed by a different company that disregarded a lot of my design requests and ran with doing what they thought would be best for my space. This was not the case with the Vigorous team. When I first met with the owner, Joel, for an initial consultation and quote, the scope of my project was much simpler and straightforward. But sometimes life throws a curveball and delays plans. Nonetheless Joel was understanding and patiently waited until I was ready. And when that time came, I decided to expand the scope of my project and opted to work with one of his designers. It was one of the best decisions I could have made. Sean too was patient and listened to every detail of what I had in mind. He took my vision and created design concepts that solidified exactly what I wanted, and was extremely helpful in making product/material/plant recommendations based on my personal lifestyle and design preferences to the best of his knowledge and expertise! Next up was transforming the final design concept into reality. Cesar, Mario and team made the magic happen! The crew was onsite - rain or shine! They were extremely professional, demonstrated dedication and meticulous attention to detail, and tackled any obstacle or impromptu design changes thrown their way. The results speak for itself and validate the Vigorous Landscaping motto, "Quality Built Strong". It's not just another clever marketing tag line! They really do produce a quality product that's built strong AND right! I monitored every step of the process and can confirm without a doubt no corners were cut! So why Vigorous Landscaping from a customer's point of view? - professionalism - open communication - transparency - reliability - dedication - attention to detail - and most importantly, they listen to what their customer wants! Kudos to the Vigorous team! Looking forward to working with you again on the next phase of my never-ending project list! read more

Ok. Where do I begin. When I first decided to start on this project, I had my concerns working with contractors. I got 4 different bids for a project I had designed by yardzen. During my meeting with Joel, we went down this rabbit hole on how he could improve the design. Long story short, Joel ended up designing the project. Working with Joel and his team was a pleasant experience. They are attentive to details. We ran into a few unforeseen issues during the project but Joel addressed those issues. When working on a project like this, I was glad I found someone who is honest and passionate. read more

We hired Joel and the Vigorous team to tackle our back patio and fence. To say that we are happy with the results is an understatement - we are THRILLED!!! It's finally a space we can enjoy daily with our 2 young boys for playing and family dinners. If you want a team that works fast and doesn't sacrifice quality - hire Vigorous. I was in constant awe during the 5 week project. Ismael, Cesar, Victor, the entire crew were so kind and hardworking. They brought great energy to the project. We were also very grateful for Joel's expertise and calm perspective when we had to navigate a fence issue with a prickly neighbor. 12/10 - We'd recommend Vigorous Landscaping for all exterior projects. We plan to hire them again in the future for exterior painting and stucco work. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about Joel and the whole Vigorous Landscaping team. We had our entire yard redesigned thru YardZen, and looked at 4 different landscapers for implementation. Ultimately went with Vigorous Landscaping because they were responsive, honest, and had great reviews. The entire project took about 6 weeks to finish. In the process, they installed new fencing, new railings, artificial turf, lots of new plants, drip irrigation, mulch, DG, new pavers, new stairs, new porch, electrical work, and repainted the house. The team came everyday, and cleared took pride in their quality of work. It's great to be able to support a local business like Vigorous, and we'll definitely be doing business with them again soon. We would highly recommend them! read more

Joel and team were simply outstanding from beginning to end. I engaged Joel after I had completed a landscape design and that really helped us get on same page. He immediately assessed the job and came out numerous times to ensure we were on same page. I was also doing a pool, but Joel worked very well with my pool contractor in coordinating all the steps. His responsiveness was stellar and didn't matter what time of day, he would always get back to me. He also advised what might look better and always provided options. The job ran smooth and his crew was a great group and so clean, no matter what the work was for the day. What can't I say about Vigorous Landscaping. They are as professional from start to finish. Joel worked well within my budget and communicated all aspects of the job. I've never experienced a contractor whose crew was here everyday from 8am till 5pm until Joel and his crew which consisted of Cesar and company did exactly that from the first day to the last. From the moment they started digging until the very last paver was sealed to perfection, they were polite, friendly and professional. Their attention to detail is unmatched. They even installed a paver basketball key and an in-ground hoop too, they do it all! Would I refer them to anyone else? Most definitely! They will be my go-to landscaping contractor always! Great job and super-satisfied with our brand new renovated back yard! Thanks Joel! read more

Vigorous Landscaping is exactly what our backyard needed. Before Joel and his team came into our lives, our family was stuck with a forest and an unmanageable hillside that we couldn't enjoy in our backyard. Luckily, a friend referred us to Joel and our backyard transformation that was once a dream finally turned into reality. The moment Joel and his designer conjured up an awesome 3D rendering that met all our needs and then some, we knew they were the ones to get this huge job done. The whole crew from Vigorous was so on point with everything. They were the nicest, most helpful and attentive crew that we've had the pleasure to work with. My wife and I were extremely impressed with how fast and efficient they were, including being  meticulous and precise with their craft. The crew were always on time and never deferred from the timeline for the job. The foremen, Mario and Cesar were very easy to work and communicate despite the slight language barrier. Joel and his leads provided us great ideas on how to get around issues that we ran into and helped troubleshoot along the way, so that we didn't have to break the bank. Joel is the type of person who stands by the quality of his product and is very much a perfectionist, which we absolutely appreciated . The project turned out so amazing and our family couldn't be any happier. We are currently doing our backyard in phases and phase 1 was an absolute success. I mean look at those tiers that they created, that nice concrete basketball court and those sexy pavers and smooth retaining wall. Joel went above and beyond anything that we could have wanted in a contractor and will definitely contact him again to finish up what we started with our home. I absolutely recommend Joel and Vigorous Landscaping for any type of landscaping needs that you may have, they are the best! read more

We wanted to use our previous contractor from the back yard to do the front yard. Comparing the two bids and the work to be done we chose Joel. We were lucky to have found Joel and his fantastic team of workers by chance when our neighbors were having their yard re-done. We noticed his workers were doing nice quality work and were always working hard. We had his team replace our backyard fence on both sides and ended up having him fix our dilapidated back garden retaining wall; In addition he did the front wall that had a crack going through it, and he came up with a great idea to put stacked stone veneer on the wall to repair it. We are so happy with the work they did, I have referred them to friends already and I highly recommend this team if you are looking for a fence or a nice backyard makeover. The putting green he did for our friend was amazing also. Thank you to all for working so hard and doing a terrific job. Just a short note to thank you and your workers for doing a great job on our project. You were all great to work with and very professional. We would like to thank you and your crew for all the hard work you put in and getting everything done. read more

Joel and his team did an incredible and professional job with my Hayward home landscaping project. We hired Joel to revamp our front yard. He came out with his father for a few initial consultations before the work began to help us narrow down exactly what we wanted, working within a budget and scheduling. We had a number of obstacles and challenges, including a legacy irrigation system, lots of concrete, old trees and a sloped area that we wanted leveled. Not only did Joel and his crew address all of these issues, but they did it considerably faster than we expected (often working in the rain and even on Saturdays). They went above and beyond what we were expecting, and left everything spotless. We were truly impressed with the quality of work and the speed in which it was done.
