I've long wanted to replace my front lawn with low maintenance plants but didn't have a vision other than incorporating a dry creek. I also had a pretty skimpy budget and needed to comply with the water company's rebate requirements. Tyler created a plan that filled every wish. His finished site plan reflects his extensive plant knowledge and a very fine eye for detail. He is well acquainted with the water rebate program and was able to answer questions thereof. I also used his service to purchase and deliver plants, and have him onsite to place the materials. This service alone is worth every penny; he moved plants and boulders around to the best aesthetic. After everything was complete, he came back for some fine-tuning and recommendations for my gardener. To save money I had my gardener do the installation but really wish I'd had the budget for a more extensive job done by one of Tyler's more experienced contractors. What a great experience and outcome. What began as a simple desire on our part to reduce the amount of grass in our front yard became a magical transformation with trees, citrus, plants, boulders and a rock/pebble area that looks like it's alive. Tyler helped us 'refresh' our landscaping. We recently moved into a new house and a couple of outside areas had not been finished by the previous owners. Tyler first reviewed the existing landscaping, and pointed out a number of plants and trees where they just needed some simple fixes to get them healthy again (e.g. more or less water, removing some ties that were initially providing support but were now constraining the tree, etc). He then patiently worked with us to design the remaining areas. He is incredibly knowledgeable, very thorough, and very clear with his notes and ideas. Tyler is exceptional by means of background, education and, experience. Not only is he a pleasure to be around, but he is a skilled listener and offers educated and thoughtful suggestions. We came away with a much better understanding of why parts of our yard were doing well versus areas which were not thriving from our first meeting. We retained Tyler to design a refresh of our front yard and redesign our side and back yards. The front yard included a new hedge and plant selections which have bought more interest, variety, and color. The side yard had been a source of frustration as the view out of bedroom windows was dismal. We are so pleased with Tyler's design using a colorful variety of shade plants. The fragrant camellias are incredible and a new favorite. Our backyard is also very shady. Tyler designed 2 areas with multiple shade loving plants and trees, suggesting use of gravel in between; very suitable for our small dogs to use and enjoy. What had been a boring corner area now has interest through use of plantings in pots. Note that completion of the installation of the landscape design was done to plan by professionals with appropriate oversight. Existing plants were used, when possible, with some moved to more suitable areas in the yard, for which we are very thankful. We also appreciate that Tyler's expertise led us to a tree expert who could improve the health of an oak tree, someone who we had tried to find unsuccessfully on our own for a considerable period. We've known Tyler for many years from when he worked at Los Altos Nursery. He was one of the first people we thought of when it finally came time for us to re-landscape our backyard. We asked Tyler to design the space with privacy, low maintenance, and low water usage in mind and to reuse what we already had where it made sense. What he came up with was right on target. He used a variety of Mediterranean and drought-tolerant plants to create a beautiful color palette, Pittosporum shrubs along the fence for privacy, and reused the rocks from our previous herb garden to create a new and slighter larger one. Tyler also took our dog into account and made sure to provide him a path to run amongst the plants (instead of trampling them ). Tyler was very easy to work with and really listened to what we wanted. He was flexible in making changes as needed and was always available for questions and to discuss design ideas. We were also very happy with the plants that Tyler ordered for us. They were healthy and good-sized. We will definitely call on Tyler the next time we need a landscape designer. read more

We are doing a complete revamp of front and back yards Tyler, the owner and designer responded to email within 24 hours, showed up on time, patient, asked great questions, took notes and was easy to work with. This review is long overdue, but I'll never forget what a GREAT experience we had with Tyler and his services. My husband and I wanted to completely redesign our (large) backyard with a Mediterranean / Japanese style (yes, very unique and not easy to do!). We didn't quite think this was possible, but Tyler definitely made it happen! He provided us with extremely detailed hardscape and landscape designs, which beautifully incorporated the style of our house with the style we hoped to see in our backyard - complete with nice stairs, fruit trees, a cute pathway, plenty of plant life, and even a place for our chickens and bees.
