Nope, the pies are as luscious, wildly inventive, and extravagant as I remembered. We went to the Griffintown location this time and I was charmed by both the neighborhood and restaurant. Here, the tables are spaced cozily together, mostly on one side of the space. We were quickly seated by the window, allowing us to enjoy the streetscape. Instead of checking out the menu, which included non-pie items like salads, sandwiches, and artisanal toasts, I went directly to the dessert case to examine the pros and cons of each pie option. Of course, there were too many pros and not that many cons so deciding was difficult. Before walking in, I was pretty sure I wanted something apple and nothing with cream cheese. However, once I checked out each pie (face pressed against the case), I knew that apple was key, but also the cream cheese. My sister was even more systematic, checking the menu, the pie case, and Instagram before she made her final decision, Caramel Fudge Cheese. Mine was the Apple Cheesecake. I loved the sweet, crisp apples; chunky, buttery crumbles, and light, creamy cheesecake. However, the large portion was definitely more than I could have in one sitting. The peach raspberry iced tea was surprisingly the perfect pairing. Service was fantastic. There were so many to-go orders and I worried that we would be de-prioritized. Not so - our server got our desserts out quickly, which we appreciated. Prior to this sweet treat, I was feeling a bit sluggish from a lack of sleep. With dessert and conversation, I reverted back to my usual peppy self.

I've ordered this flavor as a whole pie many times and the family enjoys it (24 hour notice to order whole pie, and you can ask for something to be written on the pie) Next up is the rockafetti, a love/hate relationship with it. This is a vanilla cake with a slab of sweet buttercream frosting, almost reminds me of a vanilla dunkaroo. Having the frosting on it's own is sickly sweet, but when you pair it with the cake, it's heaven. I've tried the oreo cheese pie and for me it was really heavy, I didn't really taste anything oreo, it was just cream cheese. Apple crumble cheese with ice cream is so good, you get pieces of delicious cinnamon apple and pairs so well with the vanilla ice cream and the caramel drizzle just puts this over the top. I've also tried the raspberry fudge cheese, and while it was good, I found it to be on the bitter side, due to the raspberries. Coconut cream pie was very light, and not too sweet. Cadbury caramel brownie, I found had way too much cream for my liking and not nearly enough of mini egg pieces. Overall, I've enjoyed the majority of pies, really hoping that Rockaberry comes out with new flavors!

We had to ask what each type of cake was and the worker wasn't helpful; she responded with curt, short replies. - Coconut and macadamia nut cake ($32.00) - a coconut base with a layer of whipped cream (legit), chocolate and topped with macadamia nuts. Light but will still satisfy your sweet tooth. We would have liked to see more prominence in the macadamia flavour. Afroditi is still a solid place in my books.

The pistachio was a light flavored whipped creme with a sprinkle of the chopped nuts. The cronut itself has a light flavor and is airy in texture like a croissant. We also tried their cannoli. The cannoli is no way like the classic ones that we know. Their filling resembles more like whipped creme with the classic cannoli shell.
