My first trip on Mulholland Hwy and the Rock Store today. Known locally as a mecca for the motorcyclists of CA, and occasionally visited by celebrities, the Rock Store is one place you must visit if you're on something with two wheels and an engine. The ride to the Rock Store is great - a twisty, 2-lane road carving through a canyon with glimpses of the Pacific Ocean. Many tight curves, some open speed straights, some sweepers. All fun. Just keep your head about you and watch out for the po-pos. read more

I just have to give them 5 stars for the overall appearance. Nice establishment for Biker - Burger - Beer and Babes!! If you are a real Biker this is the place where you should have been at least once in your lifetime!! On a nice Sunday noon the bikes are lined up left and right of the road, all kind of bikes from Harleys to Sportbikes, Trikes and SuperMoto, and the ride through the beautiful Malibu Canyons just to get there is already worth the visit. You may even see some celeberties hanging out there. And you can sit outside in the shade, enjoy your beer, and see all the bikes leaving and pulling in. If you live in Southern California and own a motorcycle you have any shred of affection for, then a pilgrimage to The Rock Store is a rite of passage. And rigthfully so. Nestled within miles and miles of twisty canyons, it pretty much marks the true center of biker's paradise. If you don't own a bike, well, not so much. Those twisty canyon roads are more work than fun in most cars, and I can't imagine you'll be too warmly welcomed as you're trying to squeeze the Family Truckster into the lot among the Milwaukee iron. And the food itself is quite average. But let's not lose focus here: The grub ain't the point. The point is it's an integral part of the Southern California bike culture, a place where RUBs (Rich Urban Bikers), squids, celebrities and all of us in between can stop for a bite in the middle of a ride and soak in the daily bike show that takes place out front. One of our regular stops while riding in So Cal. Lots of bikes, sports cars and just plain weird stuff stops here. Take a nice ride up Mulholland, pick your way through the crowd to find a parking spot (Bikes only out front, follow the lines on the ground) and then enjoy the show. Be sure to stop in at the cafe to try the "Biker Breakfast" and to say "Hi" to Ed & Vern. They are always there and are truly icons of So Cals motorsports history. Check out all of the pictures on the walls and you will get a sense of the history of this place. Afterword's, it doesn't matter if you head north or south, the roads are great either way. Head west at any intersection and you will enjoy a nice canyon ride down to PCH, a great day in my book! read more

This is a nice, chill place to relax. It is not as crowded as it looks when you're driving by. Reasonably priced grill food. I like their fries. We grabbed burgers/drinks/fries and sat outside to chat and relax. There's a guy sitting at a table selling insurance, which is a little weird, but ok. If you ride your motorcycle up there, you may find one of the road photographers (like Victory Jon or the Rock Store photos guy) relaxing at the end of their day. They usually have business cards with their contact info if you think they may have snapped a shot of you. It's more the atmosphere of being in a little tucked away place after a sun/wind/vroom-vroom filled day than any great food. It just feels like a Sunday afternoon and you can't help but smile. read more

Ok gotta say this place is way to over hyped. Husband and I took a motorcycle ride up here with some friends. I've always wanted to ride there so we did. Got there and the service was not that great. I ordered a root beer and got a diet root beer brought to me instead. There were bees ALL OVER! Tables, seats, trees, on the drinks on the food etc. got the tri tip plate and it was extremely messy to eat. Sure the ride up there is great but save your money and grab a drink and some food from somewhere else. read more

Great spot to check out the latest bikes and chat with fellow riders. Mellow crowd - just a bunch of "friends" hanging out talking 'bikes. I've been coming to the rock store for 10+ years. Great breakfast (I cannot comment on the other food options). Not uncommon to see celebs at the Rock Store, although if thats why you're going, please head elsewhere. I've seen Leno and Schwarzenegger (pre-governor) here. They're just normal guys trying to enjoy the hobby that brings everyone there. Parking for cars is iffy, at best. Parking for bikes can be iffy as well if its a busy weekend . Service isn't fantastic, but its all part of the appeal (??). **Please ride safe and slow down while riving/driving in the canyons. If you cannot maintain your lane, you are riding too fast or are not experienced enough. Thumbs up to the CHP and Sheriffs who patrol the area.** read more

A nice ride through twisty curvey canyons either way you get there. We went in the afternoon so no crazy crowds to deal with. Service was quick. Polite. Outside tables were too hot to sit so we sat inside. Reminded me of a small version of Cooks Corner. read more

If you're a cyclist, avoid this place. The restaurant keeper or owner (an old dude) was blatantly rude. I had to stop and think whether we're back in the first half of 20th century segregated America or something. He was sarcastic in a very crude way and he actually told us to "Get out of here!" after we bought 6 tiny bottled waters for $12! Why quibble over small issues? This is the Rock Store, the best moto hangout on the planet. It's a small joint in the mountains yet close to town so don't come expecting filet mignon and the red carpet treatment and don't compare this place to regular restaurants. Come here to get away and change your outlook for the better. Come to meet great people and ride the Snake. Don't worry about some reviewers who have some weird pet peeves and unreasonable expectations. Thousands love this place and you will too. read more

Ok, let's just be honest, let's just be real. You come here for the atmosphere and scope out the bikes. If you're expecting great food, I suggest you keep it moving. Also, service is meh. I mean, I felt bad for our server bc it seemed like she had the whole dining room. But still, took forever for her to acknowledge us, finally took our order after waiting patiently for 20 mins and then our burgers took over 30 mins. And laaawwwddd have mercy, I must've used like 30 napkins for the sloppy burger. I've been biking a few times past the Rock Store and decided this time to stop in and see how it was. You can tell the building's ancient and was built to suit the location which gives it a certain charm. Ordered some food which was pretty over priced (but hey, give it a shot at least once). I got the bbq plate, my companion got a straight burger. The plate was alright, lots of meat though a bit dry. The burger got a tepid thumbs up. The big problem was environment, lots of open buckets for trash led to bee swarms all over, and tables were slow to get cleaned. Their super light weight chairs are also not well suited to hang real riding jackets off of. My impression is that the place probably used to be a lot more fun, but realizes as the only show in town and with some fame in the community they don't have to do anything except 'be there' now. I'll probably stop in again on future trips through the canyons, but just to see what other people are riding and not for the store itself. read more

I love this place! The diner food is yummy after a long ride to Mullholland. This is the biker hang out. I met Matt Leblanc (Friends) here and shook his hand. The Rock Store also has an outside patio BBQ area. The ride up here is beautiful and I recommend other Motorcycle riders and non-riders to come up here at least once! read more

If you live in So. Cal., and have a motorcycle over 250 CC and haven't been to the Rock Store, burn it or sell it. Because you're not using it. If you want to be redeemed, there's still time brother, or sister. All you need to do is take PCH north through Malibu. Turn right on Latigo Canyon or Kanan Dume Rd and keep bearing right at the turns. When you see about 500 motorcycles of all makes and types, you're there. It will be an experience that you won't soon forget. Unless you're more into bunny hugging. read more

The Rock Store........ It's basically the most famous stop for motorcyclist on the west coast. Famous people are here often on even more famous bikes or cars...or trucks. Great roads to get there and great ones leaving! The store itself is also a great place if you have the time to relax. This place is always busy on Sunday! read more

This place is ok -- the drive is actually very short. Not worth the long ride on the freeway to actually get here. If you're a local biker this might be more your vibe -- but I'm not a local rider so it's a bit much for me. The food was ok too. Just ok. It's sad that I say that but yeah -- it's just ok. I like Newcombs ranch more even though the bikers there aren't my... style.. the view is nicer. I kind of hate that your view is dry brush and junk at the rock store. Seems to be a true biker's hangout and a good place to see a variety of motorcycles from vintage to racing. The restaurant serves coffee, muffins and typical fast food fare such as burgers and fries. This is probably more of a hangout or meeting point for bikers than anything else. read more

Been there many times but this time rode up w/daughter. 1st to arrive today both in parking lot & in diner. Got just after 7am but before they were ready & was treated well w/great service. I can't believe this place doesn't have more reviews. I think it's way better than Neptune's and not as scene-y. It's no Ritz, but it's such a great, friendly spot in the canyons for a burger, a sandwich and some cheap beer. And you do not have to show up on a Ducati to feel comfortable. My boyfriend and I have yet to go on his bike. It's all outside seating (and typically closed if it's raining) so check the weather reports before going, but soooo worth the 45-minute drive from LA. read more

My husband and i stop here every weekend after a ride. Nice place to stop and see all the motorcycles and great food.

We were wanting to drive Mulholland to Malibu, but didn't want it to take too long. We connected to this place from the 101, which was a shortcut from what I could see. Enjoyed a burger and fries and a couple beers on the outdoor patio. There is indoor seating as well. The crowd was bikers and bicyclists, cohabitating very nicely. Beautiful California foothills type of scenery. Hilly with Valley oaks scattered about. Nice place to spend a lazy afternoon and people watch. read more

So after a crazy day of driving mini coopers all over the canyon, there isnt a better place to stop and regroup with the rest of the club than the rock store. We dont eat here because its usually always packed, but its a great place to group back up, chat with bikers, take a leak, and just relax and grab a drink. Cool place, legendary. read more

I actually never had a chance to eat here, only bought a drink, however I give them 5 stars for their awesome support in allowing riders (and drivers) to just lounge around in the parking lot, weekend after weekend! I stopped here during the Amgen Tour of California cycling races (bicycle not motorcycle). Despite my group being spandex clad cyclists interacting with motorheads all went well. Perhaps the bikers saw that we biked up one of the nastiest climbs in the area or maybe they liked our $5k-$12k bikes. But everyone there was laid back and friendly. Nice view, great place to stop and catch a cold one. But a really really nasty cycling climb to get there which was worth it. read more

the place is ok. the lunch id say is over priced. a lot. i go for the breakfast witch is fairly priced but they should have more on the menu. I mainly go to people watch and look at all the wannabe bikers and the dorks who think cuz they buy a harley that they have to buy the pants, belts, shoes, shirts, gloves, jackets and as much shitty chrome as they can. a ton of what i like to call "weekend warriors" who maybe put 20 miles a month on their bikes. As far as the guys on the crotch-rockets (the few who can actually ride) i like to ride up to the look out and watch em ride. you get to see a crash every now and then of someone who cant ride. anyone remember to guy who got ran over by a porsche sometime in october i think it was. on his yamaha harley imitation bike? brutal is a good way to put it. read more
