Sweet & spicy Chicken Wings
Madow N.

The chicken wings were a pleasant surprise - worthy of 4 stars. Well seasoned, coated, a little crunchy, juicy, and a generous portion for the price. The pizza and mozzarella sticks were just ok - hence the 3 stars.

Ordered Rock City (Randolph) after running around getting errands done and living in a town that has numerous pizza/sub shops or any other kind of food choice you could want available we chose Rock City just because of everything we have heard about it since new owners took over... well I can honestly say Rock City dropped the ball on my order I've got no idea if whoever couldn't read what I ordered or I got what they felt like giving me?? I ordered 3 meals 2 of them where correct the way they had been ordered then there is my order for Fish, shrimp combo plate with Rice Pilaf.... With a price of $20.49 what I opened the bag to when I arrived home was a fish plate w/ French fries $14... I chose to send a email via the Rock City Pizza web sight to see how they where going to make this right... i have still have not heard from Rock City Pizza about this... I will say the fish was very good as for the French fries I could not say because I don't eat them so they got thrown away..

I have now eaten here twice and really wish I knew about this place when I first moved here. My first order was a pineapple and pepperoni pizza. I would have had a picture of it but I ate it before I could make it home . That's just how good it was ! So cheesy and the crust baked to perfection. The Baked Ziti Chicken Parm did make it home and it was just as good and filling !! I am in love with this place and I will definitely be back. Did I mention the employees are just as nice. I leave with a smile every time.

Not quite in my neck of the woods, I was brought out here to Rock City Pizza by an expiring deal voucher. Yeah, but I had to buy it first - I thought a voucher would be a good reason to try this new to me place, and so it was! Rock City Pizza is located on Cambridge Street between Twin Donuts (where Cambridge Street and North Beacon Street meet) and St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. It has the center spot of a short strip of businesses. And is actually quite roomy within, with the open kitchen/counter area to the left, a seating area to the right, and a rather open space between, bordered by the drink case and a chip rack along the back. One young gentleman behind the counter was rather friendly and chatty, while the other two older fellas were busy at work. As it was my first visit to his business, I attempted to obtain recommendations. He resisted at first since he felt that it depends. True. But he was willing to tell me his personal preference. Wing Dings over Chicken Wings. I was told that Wing Dings are pre-seasoned and battered and frozen. Chicken wings are fresh, but later tossed into your choice of sauce, and he wasn't into sauce. Sure, the fresh wings were larger, but he sold me on the Wing Dings which were $9.99 for a small on the board, but he said it was ringing up at the register at $8.99. To that, I added a side of onion rings $3.99 and a large Chicken Pesto Supreme $16.99 (Pizza Cheese, Pesto, Tomato and Chicken), which turned out to be his favorite pizza. When the pizza came through the oven, he took it out of the pan and stuck it back in - he likes a crisper crust. My, so do I! This order was to-go. But still, even after I got my bounty home, I liked it! The chicken and tomato chunks were large enough to keep them from drying out through the baking process, the crust wasn't too thick, the wing dings tasty even without the sauce. The onion rings were a bit highly battered, but still enjoyable.

I had the vegan margarita pizza and I have to say that they had the best vegan cheese I've had in a long time. It wasn't overly sticky or oily. It was perfect! I highly recommend this place. Stopped in based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Yelp. Showed up around 7pm on a Sunday…read moreand it was near capacity but we were able to be seated right away. The dining room is fairly small with some bar seating available as well. It was clean and bright. It took about 7 mins for the server to come over and she lead with "are you ready to order?" I guess simple pleasantries are useless anyway. We knew our drinks and appetizers order but not what we wanted for pizza yet so we ordered those and told her we'd order pizzas when the apps and drinks came. She came back about 3 minutes later and asked if we were ready to order yet. Feeling pressured, we ordered thinking that perhaps they close soon (not the case). The bartender delivered our drinks a few minutes later and about 5 mins after that both the appetizers and pizza arrived at the same time. Besides the fact that our table wasn't large enough to accommodate all that food and drink, it was never our intention to eat our appetizers with our meal. The good news is that the food was hot, fresh and tasty. The potato bombs were excellent. Crispy home fry like potatoes and the peppers had a nice heat. I would love to try the popper version next time. The pizzas were good too, but be prepared for floppy and slightly under done base crust but a perfectly charred edge crust. I find many wood fired pizza to come this way but I did see other reviews mention this as a negative. The bill comes in a small ball jar with a delicious rice crispy treat. While the jar worked it must have made it hard to see that I dropped my credit card in it, so after the waitress walked by a few times I removed the card and made it visible on the table. When the tab came to sign I was not given a pen. I should have walked out and just let them charge me for just the tab but I cannot stiff waitstaff, even when it's poor service. My only hope is that it was the waitress's first day and she somehow figures out the typical cadence and procedure involved in waiting tables. Food was a solid 4 but service was a 2 so I landed on a 3. I would definitely go back hoping for a better server.

We opted to sit at the bar in front of the wood-fired oven, which turned out to be a great call. Watching the kitchen work was half the fun with pizzas and dishes coming together right in front of us. The drinks menu is impressive too, with a large selection of beers on tap plus wine, cocktails, and mocktails. For food, we kept it simple and shared our way through the menu. The Farm Green salad was crisp and fresh, pa perfect starter. Then came the asparagus, roasted in the wood-fired oven and served with a sauce that elevated the whole dish. We finished with one of their wood-fired pizzas, and it did not disappoint. Everything had that subtle smoky char you only get from a real oven. Service was excellent from start to finish. If you're looking for a spot that feels like a neighborhood staple with food that actually delivers, this is it.

The crispy cauliflower was my favorite dish of the night, so flavorful and perfectly cooked. The rigatoni bolognese was solid and comforting. The Chianti-Marsala braised beef short rib was insanely tender and cooked perfectly (just wish there were a few more mushrooms!). Also have to mention the dirty martini was so good. Okay, so it's been 13 years since my last update. Reading my first review brings warm, fuzzy…read morefeelings to my soul. This is a casual spot. The interior is the same. Parking is limited to about (6) 1 hour spots a block ahead of and in front of the door. Same posters, same menu. Prices have creeped up, but the portions are worth it and, as a parent of two now, quite shareable (unless you are the 2008 version of me). You may eat in, but unfortunately, alcohol is not provided here and you can't BYOB. And so, take out is a popular choice. Now for the real question. What does Shaina order at this venue after a decade? My personal favorite: Puttanesca with homemade fusilli. Why? Because despite living in a region of Greater Boston where Italian restaurants are fruitful, people don't serve Puttanesca! Literally can't find it in the four Italian restaurants near my south shore home. Only other place that I can order this same dish is Vinny's at Night in Somerville. Folks love their fra diavolo, but Puttanesca gives that same heat with the bonus of salty kalamata, capers, and a touch of anchovies melted in. And, guess what? Tasted the same as it had 13 years ago. Amazing! Don't get me wrong, they have many more offerings that I've been dying to try. There's pizza, garlic bread with and without cheese, mini arancini; they have sandwiches, too. They even have four (or maybe it was 5) options for risotto. And for proteins, there is calamari, shrimp, chicken, beef, and sausages. I just can't stop ordering this puttanesca dish and it fills me too much to have room for a variety order.

The prosciutto slices were perfectly salty, rich in fat, and smooth, wrapped around the refreshing sweetness of kumquats, the delicate creaminess of stracciatella cheese, the crunch and nutty aroma of pistachios, and topped with a smoky touch of sumac powder. It had a rich and distinct flavor profile while offering a gentle and comfortable taste. Spaghetti: The refreshing lemon and basil paired with the umami crab meat is a classic combination. Chili oil added a touch of spice and aroma, while pea tendrils provided a light herbal fragrance. The sauce was emulsified very smoothly, making it both rich and palatable, although the spaghetti itself didn't leave a particularly strong impression. Half Chicken Milanese: A large portion, perfect as a main course to share. The chicken cutlet was thick, fried to a fragrant perfection, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Wrapped in lettuce and eaten with mayonnaise, it brought back memories of the fast food stalls outside my school when I was a child. This was my first time trying rhubarb stems. The tangy and refreshing taste cut through the richness, and the texture was like softer celery and firmer green bell peppers - quite interesting. Duck Bacon Pizza: The most highly rated pizza online, and it was truly delicious! The rich, savory flavor of the duck bacon, the succulent richness of the shimeji mushrooms, and the mellow sweetness of the caramelized onions, combined with the creamy cheese base, made it a calorie bomb, but I still felt it was the right choice. Unfortunately, the crust was a bit hard, making it difficult to cut with a knife. Cotechino Pizza: This was my first time trying a pizza with sweet potatoes, and I couldn't help but admire their innovation. The colors were vibrant, and the sweetness of the sweet potatoes paired with the smoky aroma of Cotechino sausage bits created a full yet harmonious flavor, evoking the feeling of being in the southern Italian countryside in early autumn, basking in the bright sunshine and the satisfaction of a bountiful harvest. The restaurant offered menus printed with "Happy Birthday," and the waiters provided professional cake-cutting service. Overall, a very comfortable experience.

Service: Server was patient with us waiting for our full party to arrive and us taking time to figure out what to order. Food came out at different times, which was okay as there wasn't a ton of table space for all that we ordered. Drinks: I got the prickly pear gimlet which was delicious but also very tiny. Food: Most of what we got was delicious and interesting. We got 2 'snacks' and 5 dishes for 4 people as well a one desert we all shared and it was plenty of food. We started with the robiola bosina cheese w/ preserved fig honey - tasty but not a stand out and the eggplant caponata, which was standout delicious, highly recommend. This came with very good quality bread but we had to ask for more as the cheese/eggplant to bread ratio was off. Loved: Bucatini verde - absolutely delicious, HIGHLY recommend Octopus - deliciously deep grilled flavor with tasty broth, also highly recommend Liked: Charred sweet potato - very good Eh: Snap pea caesar - could have used more dressing, the radishes were good but mostly just tasted like eating straight snap peas Cotechino pizza - way too much crust to toppings ratio and the sweet potato overpowered the other flavors making it super sweet For desert we got a "cheesecake," interesting but didn't love Value: For all of the above plus 3 drinks came out to a little over ~$200, split four ways about ~$50 per person. A bit pricey but we left full and with a little pizza leftover and some of the dishes were excellent. Overall really enjoyed eating here and would return.

I ordered a Slice of Cheese Pizza ($4.67 plus tax) and a Ziti Chicken Broccoli Alfredo Dinner ($13 plus tax) with garlic bread. I enjoyed the big slice of cheese pizza in the shop, which was heated up in the oven. The slice had a thin firm crust topped with tomato sauce and melted browned cheese, crunchy edge crust. I folded the big pizza slice and enjoyed it. The cheese had a slightly sour flavor, though. My Chicken Broccoli Penne was ready and bagged in about 20 minutes after ordering. The good portion of Chicken Broccoli Penne was very hot, baked in a rectangular aluminum container with al dente penne, tender grilled chicken strips, soft broccoli pieces in a creamy alfredo sauce and topped with melted mozzarella cheese. The baked buttered garlic bread (from sub rolls) was very firm and chewy. Overall, the food here was pretty good.
