Visted here when in the area visiting family. At first the place looked a bit dumpy, with the particleboard floors and cheap vinyl tablecloths. But the food was really good so the decor was forgiven;) I ordered a BLT with a pasta salad, and also got a side of fries. All was very fresh and delicious. The smoked meatloaf sounded interesting and I'd like to try that next time I'm in the area! Oh by the way, the urinal in the men's room is impressive, LOL!

I stopped here for dinner while in town for work with a coworker. It was a sunny, warm June day so we decided to sit on the deck and look out over the water. The view was nice and the pictures dont do it justice. We started with the arancini appetizer and asked for marinara sauce to dip into - the plate came with three decent size balls and was delicious. The perfect mix of cheese, rice and fried goodness! My coworker had the chicken fingers and fries and I ordered the elk burger with bleu cheese crumbles. We both thought our food selections were decent. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive even though we were the only outside table.

Stopped in for the first time just to have something to wet the whistle. My first time here. I was told it was a total dive before and that new owners fixed it up. Looks like they have done a pretty good job. Didn't have any food while we were there. Next time we'll try the food.

I am on a weekend trip with my 84 year old pop heading to Renovo, PA. We are staying over in Lock Haven because there are no hotels in Renovo. I find a place on yelp however my father wanted to try the Rock Bottom Tavern. What am I going to do say no? Of course not, so off we go. First off I don't think this part of PA believes in street lamps and its pitch black driving. The GPS took us to the rear of the place, which is lit up by one dull street lamp and I parked next to an abandon farm waiting for JASON to pop out. We walk up three steps turn left and walk up a steep ramp then turn right. I said to my father if we don't get out alive this is your fault. We opened the door to a very cozy inviting restaraunt with several tables, a 40 foot bar and 1 pool table. We were greeted with a smile and advised to seat ourselves. Our waitress Ms. Alex was very pleasant and helpful with choices. I had a medium rare Ribeye and my father had the smoked meatloaf. I started off the hot peppers stuffed with sausage and wrapped in bacon in a creme sauce. They were very good but only came as 3. Five would been a better offering. My father started with a salad which was very fresh. The meal came and the portions and presentation were very nice. The taste of both meals was very good. Then a gentleman with a beard came up and said hello I advised him to tell the chef and owner very nice job. He stated he was the owner and our waitress was his daughter. He and My father kicked it off well as both served in the Navy. All in all outside scary place if your not use to it. But inside decor was cozy and the food was delicious. Total bill with some drinks and coffee was $88. I def. Will return if ever back that way.

Awesome food. I don't think I've ever ordered anything I haven't liked. The staff are super friendly and the chef is top notch.

My wife heard good things and she wanted to go here for mother's day. We made reservations and…read morearrived at 1:30 PM. Plenty of gravel parking on both sides of the restaurant. It was a rainy day so we didn't get to enjoy the outside bar and the various lawn activities - however this place looks like a lot of fun on a sunny day. Interior was new but with that piney rustic charm. Some booths, high tops and various tables throughout the restaurant. The restaurant was packed but we were seated immediately. Drinks took a while but to no fault of the wait staff as they were hustling. Apps came immediately but main courses also took a while (+45 mins). Staff was friendly, attentive, the beer was cold and we weren't in rush. Now to the real star - I ordered the open faced roast beef, my wife and son both ordered the Smokehouse platter. This place is known for their great smokey meats and that was apparent as soon as the aroma hit your nose. In relation to the open faced sandwich I believe they use the pit beef because it had a great smoky flavor, the gravy was delicious and this dish ranks high in my book. The buffalo wings were excellent and smokey, the nashville hot sauce was spicy with more of a bbq flavoring. My family really enjoyed their bbq platters, there was a lot of food but none to take home. Overall - we had a great time. Pricing was okay with most entrees ranging from $15-$25. They do have a 4% credit card fee which was steep. I could see this place having "off" nights but for this location I'd charactarize it as a hidden gem. We can't wait to try it on a sunny afternoon.

Small brewery's are common in Appalachia. Some have even turned into larger operations, over the…read moreyears. Names like Appalachian Beer Company and Lancaster Brewery come to mind. These places some excellent beer. But they also are restaurants. So, maybe beer is a draw in or the food at times. So with that, Drunk Monkey is a pure brewery. They make, sell, distribute, and promote their own product. As far as promoting, I am not sure they need to do much work as the product has really gotten some attention at the street level. I have seen the main beer showing up at local restaurants the last year. There has also been solid word of mouth. Some of their beers are even winning awards. So it didn't take much convincing from a coworker to get me there before our Nittany Lions came on. The brewery, itself, is a tiny place tucked into an old industrial park that use to be home to one of the largest textile mills in the country. Long abandoned, different smaller businesses now call the park home. One of the more sustained businesses is Fisher's bee farm. That brings us to the brewery. The owner of the bee farm decided to start a brewery near his business. Once finding the brewery, you notice that it is a whole in the wall kinda place. But once entering, the place is organized, clean, and the folks are extremely warm and friendly. Everything is clearly marked. Beer prices are payed out in a sheet on the wall. There is a merchandise rack clearly marked. There are cases clearly marked for type. You can tell this is a place where the people love and care about their beer. The lady manning the shop was knowledgable and friendly. She gave us a preview of the beers and described each one as we taste tested the taps. She then offered us a tour of the small brewery which we jumped on. This definitely plussed the experience and ultimately earned that fifth star. We learned that this particular young lady also hand labels, preps, and fills the bottles. So she does more than just look pretty selling the beer. Now for the beer. I really can't remember all the particular names of the beer. But I had a few favorites. In particular, the German wheat beer was fantastic. That is what I got my growler filled with. Some of the other beers that tasted great, Kraken and one named Mistress or something to that effect. Fittingly, the mistress had a tap handle in the shape of a ship figure head. Speaking of which, all the beers have nautical names based on the folklore of Captain Jack which many local landmarks are named. I have nothing negative to say about Drunk Monkey. They are in an obscure location. The place is small and doesn't look like much from the outside. But like most really great businesses, it is about the knowledge of the people behind the business. Drunk Monkey has plenty of that! If you are in the area on a Wednesday or Saturday, stop in for a taste.
