They give you tortilla-like chips instead of fries and I didn't like them as much as a waffle fry or homemade potato chips. Prices were on par for this type of food. Had dinner here tonight. Fun atmosphere and friendly people. My wife had a bacon cheeseburger which she enjoyed. I had a cup of the sausage, corn and potato chowder. It was amazing. I also enjoyed a honey mustard fried chicken sandwich. Very unique. The hit of the night was the wonton chips that come with the sandwiches. The kitchen was a little slow, but not terrible. But I'm really glad that my parents brought me here because this place has the best fries that I think I've ever eaten in my life! I was so disappointed when I called to make reservations for my family to have dinner at the broken ax and was unable to do so because I have a 5 month old granddaughter who is not allowed in the establishment. This restaurant has a no one under the age of 21 policy to dine there. Now there was a very long explanation about the reasons behind the decision to forbid 0 to 21 year olds in and it's their restaurant so the owners can do whatever they want. However, I am the parent, 1/2 of the couple, teacher and grandparent that you mention this rule is for. Trust me, I enjoy spending time with my granddaughter and think your reasoning behind such a stupid policy kind of borders on discrimination. But hey your restaurant your policy. I know my family and I will never dine there. read more

Our Lock Haven favorite is Broken Axe Brew House. Nick, the owner is a fabulous host and ensures you consume the perfect beer. His wife, Jacelyn has created an amazing menu. The Scotch Eggs, Pork Nachos, Beef Chili and Fish Tacos were fabulous. We were in town for three nights and went twice. The staff was also friendly & attentive. I can't say enough about this place. What a wonderful place! My friend and I had the Broken Axe Cheesesteak, fish tacos, chili soup, and their homemade caramel toffee bread pudding. Please save room for dessert! It's so worth it! The cheesesteak was pretty good. The steak was chipped with no gristle like you may find in other cheesesteaks. Fish tacos looked simple and I was told it was pretty good. The chili was decent. The dessert was the STAR of the show. We were so full but managed to finish the entire thing. Amazing doesn't even begin to describe this sinful creation! The beer selection is superb! They bring in local area brews and I love the presentation of the beer flights! The atmosphere was wonderful as people rolled in throughout the evening. Saturday nights include a band with no cover but the snow storm caused them to cancel the event this night. Service was great but was slightly slower as more patrons rolled in as expected. My personal favorite spot in town. Excellent selection of craft brews, great service and delicious food. We especially love their seasonal menu like octoberfest or st. Patty's day. It's important to make reservations especially with the covid restrictions. To enter you must have a mask and you take it off as soon as you are seated. I love this place and visit any time I get to Lock Haven, PA. Quite a nice selection of local craft beers here (21 PA craft beers at all times, 1 non-PA beer), live music often, bar snacks, and a full menu. What is not to love? I only wish this place existed when I was actually living here. I can't fault them for not getting there sooner. The mug club is a cool thing, and I would join it if I lived closer. So great to see a place like this open up in town! Large selection of local in-state beers on tap and customized flights are a draw for any beer lover. We only stopped in for drinks and snacks but I've been told by multiple people that their burgers are also a must try. As for the snacks, they're displayed in jars along the wall and are offered at a very reasonable price. We snacked on peanuts and cashews and spent $6 between four people and there was plenty leftover. They also have a mug club which involves a yearly membership fee that entitles you to your own ceramic beer mug, and invitations to various members only events. I stopped here for dinner while staying in Lock Haven for a work trip after reading the Yelp reviews. There were a handful of booths filled when I walked in so I took a seat at the bar. I was instantly greeted and given both a beer and food menu. I ordered a cup of the chicken tortilla soup which was full of corn, beans, tomatoes and chicken with a nice little kick to it which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also selected the steak fajita wrap which came with steak, green peppers and onions all wrapped into a flour tortilla. It was decent, the steak was a little tough to chew but it had a great flavor. I was just disappointed that they were not very accommodating about it because I didn't have time to go back and return it. They needed to see the burger in order to do anything about it. Excellent little spot in Lock Haven. They serve a very good selection of local beers, and the food is local as well. Very welcoming atmosphere. I suspect a lot of dedicated regular patrons. The server tagged us as new folks right away. The food... the time we were there, not great. Scotch eggs (and I love me some Scotch eggs) were a bit overdone. Fries were kind of soggy. Local meat and cheese board is the way to go for something to nosh on. YMMV On the other hand, they have a banging selection of Pennsylvania beers on tap and a nice selection of bottles. The first visit but by far the last. All these years living here and never went because someone told us a wheelchair could not enter. Well today we decided to walk in to find out. The waitress Phoebe B was more than accommodating. She promptly showed us the back entrance and seated us quickly. She overheard the discussion of what drinks sound good and she inquired us what we liked. After we told her she brought us samples of each and we ended up with a tasty cider which was mighty cold if i may add. We put in our orders and waited what seemed only minutes before the appetizer was brought out. A spicy corn dip which was out of this universe. My taste buds died and went to heaven. The food was hot and plentiful. The main course came minutes after. The burger was slamming. The only complaint with this is my bacon was a little overcooked. Great beer selection, food is just okay. The Cesar burger is good, the bacon burger was okay. I got the hotdog and it comes plain, with fries, it is expensive for all you get. Today (8/11/2020) was my fiancé and I's first time at the Broken Axe and will not be the last now that I know I can get in with my power wheelchair. Our waitress was amazing! I'm picky when it comes to drinks so she asked what I liked and picked the perfect cider for me. I usually don't let someone else pick my drinks in case I end up not liking it, but our waitress picked Helen's Blend and it was perfect. For lunch we tried the Hot Corn Dip (10/10) as our app, I had the Broken Axe cheesesteak with the Beer Cheese Bacon Fries (9/10), and my fiancé had the Lumberjack Burger with the macaroni salad (8/10). We decided to split the Strawberry Blueberry bread pudding. IT. IS. AMAZING! Definitely a 10/10. My fiancé doesn't like bread pudding, but he does like what Broken Axe Brew House is doing with their version. Will be back for sure. read more
