Elk Creek has a large open dining area.

Elk Creek is a real jewel in the small town of Milheim, PA. I've enjoyed this spot numerous times over the past several years--for both the beer and live events. Four stars (instead of five) only because I haven't had much experience the food. Elk Creek is in a beautifully renovated space in the heart of Milheim. The bar, floors, and all spaces show a craftsmanship that carries over to the beers. lThe atmosphere is warm and inviting with a definite local artistic vibe. The beer has been superb on every visit and I've enjoyed numerous growlers from here. Reservations are a must on live event nights. Both high top and regular tables are available. Elk Creek is a "must stop" if you are near State College.

Great Resturant. Everything is made fresh from scratch with as many local ingredients as possible. They have a Sunday brunch that I wanted to try but it doesn't open until 11 am and I had to get on the road. I'm looking forward to going back.

I've been here several times with my wife. Our experiences have been very good, but a recent visit that coincided with a performance by Chicken Tractor was one for the ages. We had Brussels Sprouts as an appetizer--which was excellent and the. I had the black bean soup and she had the chili. We shared the jalapeños corn bread. The food was really good. Our server was attentive but without an agenda and we settled in for the show. I have to say, that was the most fun I have had at a live show in decades. Don't miss the opportunity to eat a meal here or to catch a Chicken Tractor show if the opportunity ever presents itself.

read the negative reviews. they're all true. just experienced it. what should i start with? after waiting 45 minutes for our food, the only item on the menu without cheese my boyfriend ordered came out COVERED in cheese. i sat waiting an additional 10+ minutes for his food to come back out, they had scraped the cheese off the eggs and brought the plate back out. the eggs were vile, regardless of cheese or not (i love cheese) and the english muffin was stale. i had gotten a fried green tomato eggs benedict- tasted like someone had made it and left it in the back for about an hour. not many options on the menu so you think the 5 things on the menu would be tasty. not worth the 40$ we wasted. had to get up from the table to even get our own water. coffee was the only good thing.

Our daughter, her boyfriend, my wife and I went to this restaurant for dinner. The restaurant is in an old building with wooden floors. I'm not sure what it was before it was a restaurant. Service was excellent. We were welcomed at the door and shown to our table by our hostess. Our waitress stopped by the table many times to see if we had all we needed. The food we had was excellent. We started with the nacho appetizer and it was prepared very well and tasted great. I had the classic burger with a side salad and pimento cheese topping. The burger was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The pimento cheese topping was unique and added a nice touch. We all enjoyed our dinner here.

Everything I had here was gross and inedible. Started with the beer cheese and chips. The beer cheese looked and tasted like brown gravy, runny, and served with stale tortilla chips. For entree the sautéed veggies. The veggies had a lot of things including eggplant that wasn't even close to being soft enough to eat- like straight up raw. There was no seasoning on it at all that was discernible besides black pepper. Couldn't eat it, both things were so unappetizing. I can't believe I paid money for this slop. Gross, gross, gross!!

Best brew pub in Millheim!! Sweet little out of the way spot outside state college. Good mix of locals and people visiting the area. Situated in "downtown" Milheim, this pub is in an old commercial space that still has its charm. Local artists show their work on the walls. Very well solid beers, six or so flag ships and 3-4 seasonal offerings. Nice, though smallish menu. Live music on weekends. Really exemplifies the third place, a welcoming spot people choose to go to for enjoyment and community. Stop by when you're in central PA!

Small, local cafe that perhaps has forgotten that good customer service and the customers are the backbone support of a business.

My husband and son joined me for a lovely night out with great service and complex flavors. We brought 2 bottles of wine and the staff promptly opened them when we arrived. There is no corkage fee, which I appreciate. The meal was so well balanced and I walked away feeling so full. My favorite item was the roasted harissa veggies as I could have eaten a whole plate of that alone as my meal. The veggies were charred, not burnt and the bean tahini aka hummus was delicious. I also really enjoyed the welcome bite of a crispy pork belly and some kind of chip. My apologies for not remembering what it was, but it was a nice starter. The beef- cooked to perfection. The strawberry dessert- a nice light end to an amazing meal. Service- personable and top notch. I just loved our evening and the creativity of chef Q. Highly recommend

We were hungry and we even did a U-Turn to drive back to the New Mountain Tavern! The sign said "restaurant and bar" established 1901. And, it did say OPEN ... which I think means that the public should expect the opportunity to participate in activities that one assumes occur in restaurants and taverns ... eating food and drinking beverages. Little did we know ... we would be walking into an exclusive QUIZZO joint that very clearly did not like nor want strangers who were hungry for a decent meal. We were just hungry you know ... famished as Monty Python's Cheese Shop visitor noted about his state of hunger ... we were not going to be picky just a burger or some pasta or even a salad with bottled dressing. We had been driving for just over three hours and that darn sigh said OPEN ... like in OPEN for business and the signage implied that this was a public place, a restaurant and tavern, where food could be procured and a cold one consumed. We never dreamed it was just a place to play that darn QUIZZO. Entree was clearly limited to those who knew the look, whose sweaty hands could handle the secret handshake and who had an appearance to pass the inspection of the gloomy hostess whose eyes streamed 'get the heck out of here now strangers!' We each carefully glanced around after being told that we would not be served food nor drink. That even though the sign said open ... 'we have nothing for you!' Looking around we noticed the stares. Whatever engagement of activity one's body must showcase was stopped suddenly ... with Zombie-like efficiency they were all staring at us as if the hostess of doom and gloom had pushed a remote control button sending a signal through their seats that the two strangers had intentionally and cruelly interrupted the QUIZZO game? Match? What do you call the activity known as QUIZZO after all? So, after noticing a few sets of eyes staring to shine red ... we hurried out the door fully noting one of the worst ever experiences in merely attempting to eat at a Tavern that supposedly offers food and drink to strangers along the highway. I know I'd hate to stop on a rainy night especially if I had car trouble and enter into this den of QUIZZO affection-ado's. I recently travelled down 15 on another trip and you can be assured that my foot pressed down on the gas pedal while driving past the "New Mountain Tavern" not even concerned how the Old Mountain Tavern vanished into the mists. The building onto which the sign for the last named joint looks like it might be perfect place
