In my (admittedly limited) experience, I observe that good mechanics default to one of two primary methods of assessing the work needing to be done: 1. They want you to be able to get out the door for as little out of your wallet while still making sure you're safe. Invoice starts out lower, but they are able to recommend additional things which could be fixed if you can afford them, in order of importance. 2. They want your car to run as good as it can. The work needed starts out daunting because everything is included, but as you explain your budget he makes recommendations about what can be safely excluded. I see Stan as falling into the latter of the two camps: Cars come in, and he feels personally responsible for them. He sees them for what they can be, and he wants you to be safe. His diagnostic is thorough and the initial list of proposed fixes can certainly be overwhelming, at first. But view it in the context of "this is the kitchen sink", and don't be afraid to provide your budgetary restrictions. This has to do with their UHaul rental side of the business, but if you are dishonest in one area of your business, how can one trust you in other areas? Dishonest location charged me $165.00 after I turned in a van, claiming I damaged the re-view mirror. No walk through was done with me and I turned it in exactly the same as I picked it up. When I asked for pictures, Dania claimed she had none, but said she compared it to the pictures of the Mt Baker location where I picked the van up. I called the Mt Baker location and they said they did not take pictures of the van before I rented it. Save yourself the b.s. and look elsewhere! read more

Needed an oil change close by and Rock got good reviews so I chose them. So glad I took it to them. Prices are very competitive service was done quick. Had them also check on some leaky windshield fluid but they couldn't find anything wrong but said if the problem still occurs they can check it out again and service it if needed and explained to me how long it would take and what might needed to be done. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Will definitely be taking my cars here when either car needs work. They are ASE certified which is great because my warranty I got with the new car only covers work done by ASE certified mechanics. **bonus key chain light when I got my key back. Lost a Long Time customer. I Brought in my 03 Range Rover with 130k for a coolant leak. Stan suggested that I also do a Transmission service, Cooling system overhaul, new hoses throughout, Fuel system service with filter. As I was a frequent customer and have not had an issue in the past, I agreed to do all services that he suggested. That's when the Nightmare began. After they started the repairs, I was called to add additional work like cleaning the fuel plates. I told them to go ahead and do it. After the work was done I picked up the car and it did not even make it to 2 miles to my house before the Dash lite up like a Xmas tree and the transmission overheated. I called Stan and they sent a Tow truck to get it back to the shop. Now a week had past with no word, email, phone call, nothing about why it. I called several times and finally got a message to come pick up the car again. No reason of what went wrong or what they fixed was given as I drove home for the second time. And yet again, the Xmas tree on the dash came on and the car would not as much as turn over. They sent out a Tow again, a week and a half went by and I was told that the issue was my Throttle Body needs replaced at a cost of 1150.00 I asked what that had to do with the Trans Overheat alarms I sent it back for which came up after they did the servicing. Stan told me that I need to pay for a new TBI or they are not going to diagnos the Trans problem. At this point I informed them that I wanted a second opinion. Especially since I already forked over 3000.00 on repairs. I then towed the car at my expense to Fix Auto in seattle. Within 20mins of them looking over the car, they found that the TBI cable had been unplugged by Rock Auto causing the sensors to go nuts. FIX auto plugged the sensor back in and ran another Diagnosis to make sure there were no more issues. Fix Auto then told me that rarely do the TBI units go bad and mine was in very good condition. All said and done. I got my car back from Fix Auto and have not had any more issues. I was very Disappointed with Rock auto and how they handled the whole ordeal. For them trying to get one over on me with the TBI and the way they left me waiting for an additional 3 weeks to fix the servicing they messed up on. I was never given as much as an apology for the extra time or lack of effort or responsibility. Brandon Reply to comment The service that was performed at Rock Auto was Not done right. You had several opportunities to fix the issues and did nothing. The cooling system had several issues after your servicing, loose hoses and improperly connection to the expansion tank causing it to crack. And an additional repair costs to me. As well as Transmission overheat problem which I never had before. read more

Stan agreed to keep our car at his business while we were trying to sell it. We agreed that we would advertise it and he would keep 10 % of the selling price once it sold. He had the car for several months when he called to tell us he had an interested buyer. We had reduced the asking price and he wanted to know what our bottom price was. The car sold and we did not receive a check from him until after we called him a couple weeks later. His explanation was that he was waiting for the buyer's check to clear. We asked him for a copy of the bill of sale. When we contacted the DMV to get a copy of the transfer of title, we discovered he had sold the car for $500 more than he told us and the buyer's signature on his bill of sale didn't match the DMV's. We confronted him with this information and he has ignored our e-mails. So, we are letting anyone who is interested in his business ethics, to beware. read more
