I've successfully ordered from RockAuto for years without issue. Today, I had my first problem and their customer service was shockingly bad. I ordered 18' Gates Transmission Oil Cooler Hose part number 27066. 27066 comes on a 25' roll. They sent me qty 6 of the Gates 27065 hose. 27065 comes in 3' lengths, so 6x3'=18'. I need two 9' pieces. Customer service said quite simply, "You got what you ordered", and our warehouse would never cut anything to length (subtext "duh"). I got a different part number than I ordered and their warehouse policy against cutting hose to length may be internal common knowledge, but not common out here. Am I right? I responded a couple times, basically, you sent the wrong part number. They didn't send 27066 arbitrarily cut in 3' sections. They sent 27065 packaged individually. They stayed firm, and I lost. They won...I'll never buy from them again, and I'll share this as many places as I can. Congrats RockAuto! read more

Ordered a Bosch reman alternator for my 2015 subaru cause the OEM died. (Also replaced battery). Alternator i received generated fluctuating voltage, causing my battery light to go on and off randomly. Returned (still waiting on refund) and ordered another of the same. last week I found out that the hammery, cranky noises were coming from the right strut that I bought at rockauto.com around 4 months ago, so I am trying to return it for a store credit and the only options that I get is to replace them for the same garbage. I have been doing business with RockAuto for years and had only a few minor issues but they now have a business model that is unacceptable. No customer service option at all. Instead you have the option to set up a return but not even cancel an order that hasn't shipped. I recently paid for expidited shipping and after I received the shipping notification it showed the slowest method (6 days after I was promised) but no refund for the cost difference. Yes the parts are cheaper but not as cheap as the customer service so this will be the last interaction I have with them. I'd like to be able to return my Bosch TPMS, I bought them October 30 2023, but only just get them installed at a tire shop. Your website listing states that they are preprogrammed for my Kia Carnival, they are NOT, false advertising on your behalf. I took my van to several tires after the install was complete, and every shop stated that they were not preprogrammed and that they could not get them to work. Please take them back and refund me my purchase price. I had to pay extra money to get the tires taken off the bead to get new TPMS to replace these that didn't work. read more

I ordered the Dynamic Friction Brake Disc Rotors. I have paid the UPS ground shipping $23.98 to have them delivered to my address. They had shipped completely different looking disc rotors from their advertised info on their website. The moment I received the shipment I have checked the disc rotors just to find out they are the wrong parts shipped. I started the return process and to my surprise I have to pay for the return shipping, even if this was not my fault at all. This time they generating the return labels FedEx Ground $22.27 or USPS $144.63 stating that amount will be deducted from my refund. There is no way you can contact by phone nor email non existent customer service! What a bummer. Any emails received during the purchase process will bounce back to you, so you can not contact them at all. Seriously the worst experience. I ordered 2 front struts and was happy because the price was good. Dont be fooled since it will come back to bite you. I recd 2 left struts which kept my vehicle on the pep boys lift for 3 days while waiting for the front right strut to arrive via another company because I did not trust to reorder through rockauto. After the install was completed, my wife and I noticed noises coming front left front end, Took the car back to pep boys and they said the left strut was defective so now I have to pay labor of hundreds to remove and replace the left defective strut. Pep boys does not warrant the job when a customer buys parts from another source which I understand especially from this situation with rock auto. You can not reach an actual person. I did email service@rockauto.com but they did not respond. When I returned the 2nd left strut I did promptly get a refund. In my opinion rock auto is not selling new parts from the manufacturer like Monroe in this case because I cant imagine Monroe on one order, packing a box with wrong strut and the other strut being defective. what are the odds on that from a big manufacturer of shocks and struts for over 50 years. Let me start by saying, we've used RockAuto.com for our auto repair parts for years with no problems. Recently, we ordered our parts (brakes) they were shipped in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, FedEx lost the package. It took 3 days for FedEx to tell us they are not able to find the package and we should contact the shipper. I went back to Rock Auto and stated the package never arrived. I was escorted through a series of questions with the result of "we have started a trace on your package, please wait an additional 7 days to see if the shipping company can find the package" REALLY!! in the mean time, there is no customer service phone number, no one I can speak to about the fact that we've already contacted the shipper and they cannot find the package. In addition, my brakes are now grinding and it has become unsafe for me to drive my vehicle. read more

Here's what happened to me: I ordered disk brake rebuild kits for my 2014 Honda Pilot, front and rear. These were supposed to be complete kits with rotors and pads. I waited for almost 2 weeks for the stuff to arrive. When the parts arrived I immediately went to work on my vehicle, got the Pilot up on my lift, disassembled the front brakes, only to find that the rotors didn't fit! They weren't even close to the configuration of the OEM part - totally different in every aspect. I was livid! I had to put all the old stuff back and wasted a whole day, that I didn't have to spare, because of their garbage parts and service, and their obvious stupidity in fulfilling orders. Now I have to waste even more time trying to return their shit to them, and they'll probably make me pay for it. I should have known something was wrong when I opened the boxes. They sent 5 rotors with three different stock numbers - WTF???? What vehicle in the world has five wheels? I have certainly learned my lesson - I am totally done with Rock Auto and will never do business with them again. What they don't realize in providing such incredibly bad service is that people like me will spread the word far and wide, and with authority. I purchased a power brake booster and when i went to return the core, there was no return packing slip.  On the website, they were going to charge me for the return shipping.  I did not have a printer to print the label and the local UPS store wanted to charge me $3 for the print out.  So far i am down $9.25 to return my core receive my $28.00...this is entirely too complicated.  Autozone, Advanced, Napa and O'Reilly all sell the same part and could refund my core immediately upon return.  What is the point of  going online if the process is inconvenient..
