Hmm, I booked this through the chase portal. I would have skipped the dinner and just done the show. You are seated at long tables with strangers and have to wait at least 30 + min to get food. After dinner three dancers do a little dancing in the middle aisle. The food was just ok, the fish was the best. 530-730 for dinner was too long. The show started around 8 so another wait once you were in the theater. I was surprised how much I liked the Elvis and Michael Jackson impersonators. They were really high energy and it seemed like they were singing themselves. I was impressed. This is not a traditional luau like the one I went to in Maui, but I enjoyed the show and would skip the dinner.

We wanted to take the kids to their first luau, and I came across this one in my research. It's definitely not a traditional one by any means but it was a super entertaining show for the whole family! The luau takes place on the 4th floor of the Royal Hawaiian Center, so I liked that it was walking distance from our hotel and we didn't need to stress about parking or being on time. The seating area is covered, and the actual show is inside the theater, so you don't need to worry about getting canceled for weather. Our tickets included a mai tai (you can choose non alcoholic or alcoholic) for all of us! This was actually one of the better buffet spreads I've had at a luau! They had a carving station for roasted pig AND prime rib! My plate was stacked with food, I couldn't even see what was on the bottom. I couldn't even finish my plate and I only went through the buffet once! They even had a couple of dessert options - haupia pudding, fruit, chocolate cake, and build your own sundaes. They had live music and some dancing throughout the meal time. They also did a hula lesson which our kids enjoyed. I do wish they had some more activities especially for the kids since it was a long time for them to sit for 2 hours during the meal. Even if they had some themed coloring pages or lei making, that would have been something more to keep them occupied for a bit. After dinner they moved us into the theater for the show. It was a little bit of a wait until the actual show started. The show itself is about an hour to 1 hr 15 mins. The singers were all singing live and they were so talented! Like I mentioned it wasn't a traditional hula show but went through the history of music and even had impersonators for Elvis and Michael Jackson who both were awesome. The staff were all amazing and helpful, the dancers were so sweet to our kids as well. Awesome service from the moment you walk in until you leave! Overall I thought this was a fun experience for the whole family, and appreciated the great variety of food! I would say this probably isn't a great choice for a first time luau goer but if you've been to a couple already then this is a nice change of scenery and something unique to try out.

The luau portion of this was definitely not the best, because you end up waiting quite a while to eat and there aren't a ton of options for drinks while you wait. They give you pineapple that is sliced on each table to snack on if you like, but overall, it wasn't the best in terms of food options and the small show table side. The show was entertaining and the history of the island music was great. My husband and I enjoyed the show portion for the live music performance, but can't say we would do this again for the luau. The service was a bit awkward and it was a little pushy when people would get up to grab things because the staff like to call you up to go to the buffet line or the show room even if you are looking to just use the restroom. It was an alright experience, but probably one I wouldn't revisit.

    Mai Tai. Very good!

A fun twist to the traditional luau! We really enjoyed our experience. It's located in the Royal Hawaiian Center on the 4th floor. Upon arriving, you get to take a picture with Elvis lol and then they lead you to your seats. There were fresh pineapples on the table to start off and then they give you your complimentary Mai Tai which was delicious btw. Once everyone was seated, they had hula dancing and a singer playing a ukulele. Then they started calling everyone by tables to get food. The food wasn't amazing but still pretty good. The roasted pork, chicken, and mac salad were my favorites. There was also a variety of fruits, cake, and an ice cream bar for dessert. After dinner, they had some fun activities like hula lessons. Then they led us into the theater for the show. This was my favorite part of the night. The show had a theme of periods in time. It was a nice mix of pop hits throughout the decades and traditional Hawaiian music. There were also appearances from Elvis and Michael Jackson. Overall, it was a great show.

The show had a period theme, taking us on a journey from the past to the present, which made it a great way to experience Hawaiian culture. The live dances and performances were super energetic and really inspiring to watch! The food was okay. It was a family-friendly setup with a buffet and a hula dance performance, creating a nice atmosphere overall.

Parking at Royal Hawaiian Center, first hour free, 2nd and 3rd hour is $3 each hour. We arrived by 5:30 and were seated right away. Dinner started around 6:00. It was a good spread of buffet with Hawaiian food and prime rib and roast pork. Followed by the show and we all enjoyed it very much!

9/10 best Vegas style Luau on the island! I parked in parking garage. Took elevator up one floor and then walked for about 5mins until we arrived there. We already ate so we didn't do the luau. I will check the luau out before I leave the island. (Whenever that is lol) After that we checked in and went to the bar and ordered some drinks. Then headed inside to watch the show. The show is theater type seating. It was a great temperature inside so you won't need your jacket. I was in shorts and a tee shirt. The show was amazing they told the Hawaiian story throughout. I love how they incorporated Elvis and Micheal Jackson. Everyone did a great job! I was really pleased. I just wished Micheal Jackson would moon walk more. He only did it for one song at the end. Which was a little disappointing. When you leave a lot of the restaurants will be closed. That's why it's best if you do the luau with the show or come early to eat before the show. To avoid being hungry after. I did however find Fire Grill Wakiki which was right outside the parking garage. The food was great and you could walk there.

This show is way more fun than I expected. The band was the star they are outstanding. Elvis does a great job as well and Michael Jackson is good not great. The theater and video footage played during the show make the experience even better. We did the show only package and had center seats.

Had such an amazing time! Loved the staff and the show was epic ! But.....food was extremely disappointing. The experience was great met new people and had an overall great experience. The guy playing Micheal Jackson just needs alittle more energy as he seemed at little annoyed or nervous but he did good just could tell something was bothering him mentally. Rest of the cast did absolutely amazing loved every minute! I also feel like the male dancers need more time to shine , I love the women they did great but would like to see the males shine as equally as they are definitely talented.

We got the Original Luau ticket that came with the buffet and the show. Right when you check in you sit down and they come with a Mai tai. Then within ~30 mins you get up to get the buffet. I got a little bit of everything. I didn't love the crusted fish. The chicken was tasty. They cut the pork and beef but wished they gave a larger portion the first time. The noodles were good, and the Mac potato salad was good. The dessert was also tasty, I loved the coconut haupia. I got two of the vanilla ice cream and topped it off with Oreo crumbs. You could totally go up for seconds. The staff were friendly throughout. There was dancing throughout the dinner. We paid $117/pp after a discount. Now onwards to the show. We went into a nice theater. We were about 4 rows away so that was perfect. The show was awesome, they had Elvis and Michael Jackson and classic Hawaiian songs. Then the fire performance came out and that was lit. Highly recommend this part. Overall was a great experience, the food was decent but the show was amazing!

Wonderful variety show with fire dancer, singers, Michael Jackson and Elvis impersonators. Voices were spot on. The main woman singing had the voice of an angel. Good production value. Very entertaining. Located in the Royal Hawaiian Center on the 4th floor of Bldg. B. You can't miss it once you get off the escalator. Bathrooms in the theatre were clean. Bartender on site serving drinks. Located in a building with a food hall and many restaurants. Parking (not cheap) available in a garage across the street.

We paid for the green room for our honeymoon. We were the only ones that purchased the green room so it was like a private booking! Becky gave us a backstage tour, educated us on the pieces they use during the show, and showed us all the behind the scenes. It was really cool and personal. She took lots of pictures and videos of us during our tour and was overall such an amazing person. We got to enjoy the green room with champagne and a charcuterie board...again, all to ourselves! We had our own private table which was 5 4ft tables put together for just the two of us haha. We also had reserved seats in the theater. They made us feel so special. The food was great. They had so many options to try and the pig was really cool. The best was the passion fruit potatoes. The show was amazing. It's not your average hula show which is amazing. The girls really know how to dance and the men are super impressive. The Elvis personator was amazing. He knew how to work a crowd and his gestures were so on point with Elvis. Michael Jackson was good. Elvis gave me his red scarf that smelled like him with a kiss in the face. Michael came and shook our hands while performing. I love how involved the cast members were to us. This was the funnest part of our honeymoon and we loved everyone we met. Everyone was so nice and friendly. I definitely recommend booking Rock-a-hula for you and your family!

From the moment you pass through the doors, you're surrounded by a blend of old-world elegance and Hawaiian warmth. Built in 1922, the theatre has hosted everything from silent films and Broadway plays to concerts and Hula performances. Today it seats about 1,400 guests, offering an intimate experience where every seat feels close to the stage. The acoustics are excellent, the seats are comfortable, and the staff and volunteers are friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. There's also a small bar and lounge with high-tops, perfect for enjoying a drink and conversation before the show. Inside the theater, you see tall, fluted Corinthian-style columns that are richly detailed. The curved arch overhead is decorated with mosaic-style tiles in warm tones, and I absolutely LOVE the lush deep red velvet curtains that frame the stage. They add so much warmth and elegance. Having attended many shows throughout the years, I've always been mesmerized by the mural above the stage and decided to do some Googling while waiting for the show to begin. I learned it's Lionel Walden's Glorification of the Drama. The painting depicts a grand procession of mythic figures -- a golden-robed muse in her chariot, attendants, musicians, a lion handler -- all celebrating the power of theater. The central figure, often interpreted as the Personification of Drama, leads the way. Knowing that part of the mural was once lost to water damage and later painstakingly restored makes it even more meaningful. Parking is easy at the municipal garage on Bethel Street, just a block away. The short walk is now well-lit, a welcome improvement from years past when it was dark and sketchy. Entertaining audiences for over 100 years, the Hawaii Theater is a recognized as a National Historic Landmark. Attending a show here, you're not just watching a performance, you're also living and breathing a beautiful piece of Hawaii's historic culture.

It was warm and it was nice to be dining al fresco. They had live music and we were called up to the buffet table-by-table. The food was so-so but we found things to eat. There was Kahlua pork, roasted chicken, fish, salad, bread, etc. For the drink tickets, it's easier to go up to the bartender and order rather than wait for a server. Drinks that were available to us included: soft drinks, POG, beer, wine, and premixed cocktails. Needless to say, we did not use up our tickets but my husband tried and he even tried giving a few away. While dining, they started the show on the stage. The talented performers put on a great show and even my dad got in on the fun. I did not do much research ahead of time. I do not go to luaus because I know there are many issues with them being so exploitative, but I absolutely was trying to approach with an open mind. I'm not sure where to start. Uh. I guess I'll go chronologically. The check in lines were incredibly long so they are not very accessible. There was very little information on the accessibility of the space on their website. We got there early but were told they wouldn't start check in for a while and to go find a place to sit and wait. We weren't warned about the line at all. I'm disabled and so we found a place to sit and watched the line grow and grow. By the time check in started, the line had hundreds of people, so we decided to wait hoping the line would move quickly. But after about 20 minutes passed after check in started, the line did not seem to be shortening at all. We talked to a staff member about us being early and not being able to wait in the line due to being disabled and she told us there's nothing they could do about it. I think we ended up waiting over 40 minutes. When we actually finally got to check in, one of the women recognized us and said they should've helped us from the beginning and was very sweet and apologetic. She gave us some extra drink tickets which was a lovely gesture. As you go in, you are greeted with leis and a photo op. We immediately noticed the garb worn by the staff looked like plastic and fast fashion costuming. The photo op felt strange to us and we declined. But we observed the staff going up to people with the printed photos for purchase. It felt quite money grabby. As we entered the area, there's more plastic. A lot of the decor was made of plastic and felt gimmicky. The ground had artificial grass and there was a wall covered in fake foliage for pictures. We went to the bar to grab drinks and the drink tickets offered you very limited options. I got the Mai tais with my drink tickets, which were only 9 oz and I would guess maybe there was half a shot of rum in each. My friend got some of the mocktails, that they had to pay extra for, and the drinks had like a strange aftertaste we couldn't understand from looking at the ingredient list. They did not want any more after that. We then went to grab dinner from the buffet. I'm vegetarian and so my options were limited. The stir fried noodles had a strange aftertaste as well and I couldn't finish them. I only really enjoyed the Hawaiian rolls with lilikoi butter and the fresh pineapple. My friend agreed there were some weird aftertastes in the food. They eat meat, so they definitely enjoyed more of the food than I did, but they also couldn't finish their plate. By the time we had started eating, we noticed all the cultural activities had closed so sadly we could not really partake in any. When the show started, they created fire on stage to light the torches, which was probably our favorite part of the show. It felt the most authentic. Then, there were performances by the same 4 women and 4 men in different garb to represent different cultures of Oceania. Again, the costuming seemed to be made out of plastic/fast fashion materials. Coconut bras made of shiny plastic and even hula skirts made of colorful tinsel. I felt particularly uncomfortable when I saw the performers do the haka dance with painted on moko, or the traditional tattoos of the Māori people. My friend suggested that some of the performers might be Māori, but based on the hesitancies of the dancers to commit making the faces traditionally seen in the haka made us feel like that probably wasn't the case. We felt immense discomfort at the amount of cultural appropriation we were watching throughout the performances. Beyond that, we noticed that all of the dances were incredibly fast-paced, which isn't aligned with what we understand about a lot of these cultural dances. So everything felt sped up to keep the attention from the audience, which means that some of the more technical aspects of the traditional dances were neglected, and to me, they were noticeable. We also noticed that some of the dancers were struggling to catch their breaths towards the end of the show, which seemed to highlight out how unnecessarily fast paced these performances were. It is clear that the dancers worked very hard and they brought incredible energy to their performances, so I do not have anything but wonderful things to say about them. We ended up leaving early because of our discomfort with how exploitative the experience felt. It is clear that the staff and performers work quite hard to run this event. They are the ones that deserve any stars from this review. The immense issues we observed stem from the people who are making decisions to be as extractive and exploitative as possible.

A night in Kaka'ako is always a fun place to explore, and just be entertained!…read more The Honolulu Night Market at Our Kaka'ako is indeed a fabulous adventure into the biggest street/block party filled to the brim with all things local...food, retail and culture. I've been to so many and each and every one is very unique where you can find either fashion runway stage, live street art, or even a dance night in the barn. I just love the vibe SALT and surrounding Our Kaka'ako brings with the vibrant art we're so blessed to have and this particular night (November 19th) there was actually much more shopping just perfect for the holidays and the party went further down to Ya-ya's. Tonight I was fortunate to have gone after work so I kept it short but found some awesome treats. Some straw toppers to add to my holiday gift giving and some cheesecake cups (OG, Strawberry and Cookie Butter) of course I got one of each to share...ate the Strawberry which of course omg was yummy!! Not too sweet as the Strawberries was just perfect as I tried to get an even scoop of it all in every bite. Walked further down and honestly wasn't in the mood to wait too long for anything found something that would just exactly work for me. Ya-Ya's Chophouse & Seafood and tonight they had two items - Steak Kebabs - Fat Fried Rice with TAB (aka Thick Ass Bacon lol!) I seriously wanted the fried rice but thought that the Steak Kebabs was more sensible for me personally and it came with two kebabs each fully loaded with steak, mushrooms, peppers and onions with a huge scoop of rice! So many options I really was considering including Henna from Henna Happens, Birria Tacos from Dolce Vita, Corn from Corn Onoz Hawaii but though there's always a next time yes!?! I remember pre-pandemic Yelp had a booth here and hoping as things return to normalcy that we'll see it back again one day (hint hint!) Absolutely love this Honolulu Night Market as it offers so many cultural coolness that you can't find anywhere else! Thank you!

There were only about 4-5 food trucks when I visited, and it felt small. Around 6 PM, the area had…read morevery few people. There was some live music, but it seemed more like a quick stop for tourists rather than a real night market. I didn't try any food because the atmosphere wasn't appealing, so I left quickly.

Casting is excellent, costumes fantastic. Scenery fantastic. Donkey and Lord Farquaad deliver over the top performances. Great singing voices (though often volume is too loud and distorts voices). What a performance…read more.. Thank you to Terry K for taking me on this journey to something that I've never tried personally is to see a play and Manoa Valley Theatre offers us some amazing performances that I've been lucky to see a play though it's never been at Manoa Valley venue itself and what a difference it is. The vibe here is full of energy as many start arriving and you need to check in and verify your seating which the staff does and also informed us that the air conditioning wasn't fully operational and provided us with a bottle water is a nice gesture though was slightly warm the cool Manoa air kept us decently cool. As we get to chill prior by getting a drink and/or snack is nice and there are great options available including some alcohol. Kim's Convenience is the play and from what we were told is once a series on Netflix which I don't have but I like that I have no idea as I can enjoy the play just as they visualize which was great and fun since it was a comedy, if anything the seating leaves no room for anyone to pass in front of you so I had leave the row and wait in the aisle for others to take their seat but in all comfortable and easy to view the play without being blocked from the previous row. Bravo to this creative and wonderful evening with a great friend as doing something unique like this was so much fun and a memorable experience. Thank you!

I loved arriving at this shopping center and going through the music classrooms, almost like a speakeasy. Cute older couple that runs the place. Very...Italian decor? Moody, night club vibe on the upper level, older crowd mainly. The food and drink were not too bad. Would I go just for the food? No. But the ambiance was really cool to experience, I'll miss it!

The club opened in April of 2014 and features jazz, blues, classical musicians in Hawaii. This was our second time here and loved it. Tim and Carolyn (owners) are very welcoming couple who work in tandem to operate this place. Tim is the chef, artist, and manages the music events upstairs. Carolyn is the musical director for the school downstairs. All proceeds from dinner/shows help support the Manoa School of Music and the Arts downstairs. The ambiance is beautiful and well-decorated with plants, art, paintings. Tim is an artist, so you will find his paintings for sale too. We took one home during the NYE event and admire it everyday. Your ticket includes live music and a tasty 4 course gourmet meal who is cooked by Chef Tim. Just a word of warning is that the meal is on the smaller side. The dishes are served on mostly paper plates but I assume that's how they also keep the costs lower. Most of the attendees seem to be 50+ so the food might be catering to those who are older and don't eat as much. Although we ended up being content by the end with drinks. You will likely end up sitting with strangers since the tables are large, circular, and can seat up to 6-8 people. This can be a good way to socialize and make some new friends. They also have a bar that has very reasonable prices. $25 wine bottles and only $7.50 for beer/wine glasses. Cocktails available too. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a special place to enjoy the beautiful tunes of jazz. Hard to find places like this anymore!
