    Brown Stew Chicken
    Ayesha A.

A major waste of my hard earned money. I order chicken soup, brown stew chicken and mac and cheese. The food simply don't taste good anymore. It use to be the bomb until they change management and started doing Asian food as well. It don't have the Jamaican food flavor anymore

I was craving Jamaican food. This was the only spot in the area open late Friday night. They had a small crowd. Inside was spacious and very clean. The wait for your food was less than 5 min. The woman in the front spoke very loud so you could pick up your order. My food was delicious and hot. I'll try to come earlier next time since I really wanted the Mac and cheese. But overall I had a fine experience. The Rasta pasta had too much onions and I needed more sauce on my jerk chicken. Overall food is fresh and delicious.

I purchased a medium stew chicken with extra plantains to go, and I received 4 small pieces of chicken and a half plate of rice. I'm leaving a picture. I paid 11 dollars for 4 little sliders. Horrible experience. I did not realize how much food they was putting in my (plate) I

Really makes me feel sad to give only a 2 star. Since they've remodeled the customer service has disappeared. The decor is more modern and updated but they now lack with the staff and food portions. If you order a large oxtail you will pay $15 and receive 5 pieces of oxtail with mass amount of gravy in a container full of rice. Unbelievable! Dont bother ordering your food in advance over the phone (if they even answer) you will still wait a minimum of 30 minutes before receiving it. The food is good but they are incredibly stingy with the meat portions on top of that the cashiers have the nastiest attitude. Honestly its no longer worth it I would recommend either blue cantina or richie rich.

Great customer service and great food. I had the fried chicken, jerk chicken, curry goat, and seafood soup on my last visit. Everything was delicious and flavorful. They never disappoint. I would definitely recommend.

Love. Love. Love. This is the place to go to get authentic Jamaican food. The food is always fresh. I get the curry chicken every time. My mom and sister loves the jerk chicken and the fried chicken and my dad always gets the oxtails. Have already recommended this place to a few family and friends.

Ordered this dish to go... boiled/seasoned lobster with corn & potatoes. Absolutely Delicious!

Always a hit, never a miss when I visit this restaurant. They have a ton load of delicious dishes to choose from morning, noon and night... One of the best Jamaican cuisine restaurants in the tri-state area!!! Stop by today and see what you've been missing.

I'm making my rounds with these Jamaican restaurants in the Bronx, and Rocatone is def top three!! The rice and peas are sooo good! Curry chicken isn't bad either, and the jerk chicken was moist and flavorful. Aseguce was prompt, and I had no issues using the Groupon which turned out to be a great deal. Plenty of food for a great price. Also very cool decor inside.

    Tiny portions smh

Rice & Peas & Tings is located toward the rear of the Bronx Terminal Market food court. I wound up here early on a Sunday morning and decided to give them a try. After the warm greeting, I asked if it was too early for stew chicken and was told 'Course not'. I was given a hearty serving of food, with EXTRA GRAVY like I requested. I could have fallen in love right there. I grabbed one of the many available tables, near the Christmas tree, so I could look wistfully out, onto...the highway. While the plate was plentiful, the chicken I received was small boney pieces. If you look, you can see the chicken back in my picture. This is not exactly a complaint (bones are for chewing), but I would have liked to have more actual meat. The chicken itself was also slightly sweeter than my preference, but still very good. Honestly they had me at the extra gravy and could probably do no wrong. The rice and veg were both well cooked and I have no complaints on either. I will definitely return and try different things from the menu (looking at you oxtail).

Saw a large sign boasting, Rice & Peas & Tings, so I strolled over. Behind the counter was this cordial young gentleman who I had a lengthy conversation with. In a part of our conversation he informed me that they recently opened in the Terminal in 2024 and they are eagerly looking forward to sharing their food with the masses. For the undecided, samples are offered to help in any decision making. I didn't accept his offer of samplings, but what better way to entice someone. If you're looking for 'authentic Jamaican food like your Mama and Grandma used to make...', as they quote, stop by Rice & Peas & Tings.

So I was so very disappointed when after Covid they continued with the only pick up service. The food quality is enough to continue yes but the vibe dining in and at the bar I truly miss. My daughters fell in love with this place because every time we walked into that dinning room there was a particular servers who KNEW US. They knew us enough to know my daughters had a favorite table (the 1st we sat at dinning there). They know us to know that my daughters had special distinction drink mocktails (one of the reasons the fell in love wit this place) that they could order even when it was no longer in the menu. This was one of those places we frequented....even if they couldn't get their special table or waiter, the quality never disappointed. During Covid we order delivery regularly because we didn't realize how much this spot because our Caribbean food must have. I can't say we ever really had tried a different meal from over favorable ones that made us say this is one thing they don't get right to us. And the rum punches and Bob Marley drinks they served during their dinning days is what got me to the pin t I had to start stopping in this joint just to have a drink and appetizers. This really used to be by spot back when they had dine in services. Over the years it's in our delivery/pickup Bronx favorite list unfortunately. I say unfortunately because now that we are back at full operational living. I har to slash the delivery/pickup weekly rituals to only situations of desperation not necessity. So this spot has only become a craving order delivery/pickup order spot. Not a I got some/gonna make some time to go enjoy a drink and some Caribbean food spot destination. Which this was my #1 default choice before Covid as I said this used to be my spot. I would take my daughters here damn there biweekly if not be there weekly myself on dates and when hanging out . Cause they people there were serious enough about customer service they would acknowledge knowing who you are and treat you as such. Hence again why my daughters loved this place as kids. *Looks right and left* a yoo when yall opening the dinning in area again cause it's been log enough now...FIX IT! lol

I remember when Fish N' Ting first opened several years ago and I'm pleased to know that this family run establishment is still kicking. I would put it in my top five list for Jamaican restaurants in the city. The menu is wide and varying and accommodating of different diets. If you love jerk chicken, you need to try it here! The jerk chicken lovers in my life can't get enough. My recommended dishes are the whiting (fried) with rice and peas, rasta pasta and now the lobster (which I didn't know they had). The seafood is made to order, fresh and super tasty. I never thought sweet chili and lobster would be a good combo but it totally rocks! It was truly delectable. My only issue is that they charge for gravy if the dish isn't saucy (as if) lol but I get it!

Ordered: Malt (~$4)…read moreMango Juice (~$5) Chicken Suya (~$15) Street Waakye (~$25): rice & beans served with gari, spaghetti, tomato stew and black sauce (shito); fried fish and goat stew Jollof Queen (~$25): spicy, well-seasoned tomato stew rice served with salad, sweet plantains, and chicken Aya's take: I'm a big fan of African cuisine and this was my first time at a sit-down Ghanian restaurant! They have a DJ so if you're looking to vibe while enjoying Ghanian food, this could be the spot. It was my first time trying Malt and the best way I can describe it is it tastes like molasses, slightly bitter, slightly yeasty but very mild overall. We started off with the Chicken Suya which was a bit dry and chewy but the suya seasoning made all the difference. It tastes like a blend of chili powder, ginger, garlic, onion powder, paprika, etc. It was a fine starter but definitely skippable. For entrees, we got the Street Waakye and Jollof Queen. I've had waakye (pronounced waa-che) before but this was pretty dry. The spaghetti was light and I actually liked that they used thinner noodles rather than the regular spaghetti. This dish comes with fried fish which was light, flaky, and moist. The real winner was the goat stew. I'm salivating just thinking about it! You get the essence of tomato, the tenderness and slight gamey flavor from the goat, and the thick and luscious sauce that was an explosion of flavors. I even dipped the boiled egg into the sauce which was unbelievably satisfying. The jollof rice from the Jollof Queen was cooked way better than the waakye. It was moist, well-seasoned, and didn't really need anything added to be good. I loved the sweet plantains and the chicken was also well-prepared. Considering how much jollof rice there was and that it was ~$25, they could've given more than 2 pieces of chicken. Overall, it was a pretty good meal! When the bill came, I saw there was an automatic 18% gratuity added which is totally fine considering we were a party of 7. However, they then pointed out that this wasn't tip and was a fee for "the table". I eat out a lot and never in my life have I heard of this. We ended up adding another 10% on top of that. They also charge a 3% credit card fee. I don't agree with them trying to squeeze out more money from customers who are already coming and spending money; this is definitely not the norm anywhere else I've been. Not too many restaurants in NYC serving Ghanaian cuisine but you'll enjoy some traditional dishes here.
