I was on a schedule to get gas from Robys but for some reason, ran out of gas before the next fill came. Pete came to help me make sure I had propane until they could come and fill the tank. He was excellent did a check on lines and gave me a temporary tank until I could get a fill. He explained everything and made sure all my pilot lights were lit. Today I stopped doing business with this company after 34 years! They used to put me on a regular delivery and recently were bought out! They charge my credit card in advance and over estimate my gas needs. Today they still have 99.00 dollars of my money they have been sitting on after 8 months and my gas bill is paid before delivery with a credit card. Scam holding onto peoples money! I ran out of propane for my stove and called for a delivery, I was told no trucks were in the area and when they do deliver it would be an extra charge of $ 250.00 not including propane ( which they have my 99.00 dollars still) Guess what a Robys truck went by my house 2 hours after i called and never stopped! I've had Roby's since I moved to Wareham in 2013. I'm set up for automatic delivery with no problems at all. I called one time after smelling gas and they were here within 30 minutes, explained the problem was with the outside gauge and it was ok. They had to order the part and fixed it the next day. The employees I have dealt with have been friendly and polite. I have no issues with Roby's. read more

Have been using Roby's for over a year now. Easy to sign up. They did want a 300$ deposit since I was renting which I put on a credit card. After that once a month or so they came by and filled the propane tanks and left a bill. You get a bit of a discount by paying it promptly. Very easy to deal with, would recommend. read more

I have used Roby's for nearly 5 years and never had a problem with this company up until NOW!!! I had a propane delivery this week, the driver damaged an item on my property, he flipped the item over which resulted in breaking 3 branches off of a bush. Then stomped on the item, breaking it and ripped off a branch and threw it. Their inspector came out, assessed the damage and informed my Husband that we are at fault. The area is unsafe for his driver and we need to make sure that it is cleared and that they are not going to pay for the damages. SO instead of refusing delivery they allow the driver to damage your property. They also informed my Husband that they will not deliver fuel and any more propane until we pay for the propane that was just delivered. What kind of customer service is that????? read more

We had problems with our last propane supplier which had been bought by a larger company so we were very happy to find a local company in West Wareham. They were very helpful, courteous, and fast signing up. They gave good explanations of their costs and were flexible about our schedule and came out and installed a new tank very promptly. We will be updating our review as our experience with them continues, but we are certainly happy so far. read more

This update is to finally say that I am FREE! Sold my house so I never have to deal with this company again. Up until the very last day, they made me feel like it should be MY privilege to have them as my propane company. Their consistently poor attitude on the telephone and inability to followup with ANY request was comical. I dreaded calling them for anything each and every time and I am astonished that they are still in business. Was at my house for 4 years and this was the worst customer service from any company we dealt with BY FAR. My recommendation is to pay more somewhere else. You will be happier for it. read more

I have been a customer for nearly 10 years... It's sad to say that the only reason I have been a customer for so many years is because I did not want to go through the trouble of having to switch to a different company. I finally made the decision to stop do business with Robys Gas. 1 I had the pleasure to meet Mr Roby himself when he visited our property while our home was being built. He handed me his business card and said in an arrogant way, I won't be able to get my occupancy permit unless he signs off on it that we are connected to propane... At the time, I did not know I had options. I felt strong armed in to doing business with Robys Gas. If the owner of a. company does not respect or appreciate a customer, typically the rest of the company is the same way. 2. An example of this: one Sunday morning about 5 years ago, a Robys Gas Employee came speeding down our driveway... Banged on the door and demanded to be paid... We responded we did not know we were past due... I wrote out a check for 170.00 which I thought that was not a high amount to warrant this type of action. After the snow melted, we found a bill by our front door.. We explained to them months later what had happened and asked if the bill could be mailed. They refused and said it was not in their policy... 3. Sometime ago we ran out of propane... We called and asked for delivery. They said they would have propane gas delivered by Thursday that same week. The following Monday, I called and ask why we had not received propane yet... If I could not provide my customers with a service, the absolute least thing I would have my company do us call that customer. 4. We recently learned the Robys Gas is on average 1-2 dollars more a gallon in price for propane than most suppliers. We were paying more for less... I called to say I thought my tank was leaking after a fill up. They did not believe me, I had to contact the local fire dept. It was a leak! By the time Roby's arrived and picked up that tank and brought it back. They stated they could not refund me anything towards the value of the tank lost! Over $400. How unfortunate for me!!!!! This company is full of rude and incompetent thieves. The owner tries to bully you into buying propane when you don't need it and when you cancel your service they refuse to pick up their tank so they can hold your equipment deposit hostage. Stay far, far way from this company because customer service is certainly not their priority. Do a little research with the BBB and Attorney General because they are loaded with complaints on this company. Their response is always that the customer is lying. I have been trying to speak to a service technician regarding larger propane tank options since early August. I am putting an addition on with a separate heating system and a propane fireplace. Here it is October 2 with no call back and decided to call today and "shake it up some". After being very rude and dropping profanity (not my usual tact), did I speak to someone beyond the dim witted receptionists who apparently do not leave messages and make excuses why their service is so poor, I finally did! It worked!!! Before speaking to "Wally", the pinnacle of customer service (not), a receptionist pointed out to me (pre-profanity), "you can't speak to me this way". Note to receptionist, "yes, I can and I did, get over yourself, I'm a paying customer." After Wally informed me that my name was not on the account (no problem cashing my checks, hunh?) he hung up on me. To this I say he should immediately be fired (but he is probably the owner). I called back for more torture and asked to speak to 'Wally" and I was informed my name was on the account. He did speak to me, was missing the point I was inquiring on tank size, but I still need to deal with a service technician. All I am trying to do is determine which size tank I can get. Today I still do not know and I will still need to wait for someone to call me back. After speaking to Wally, I called Amerigas who will be installing a 500 gallon submarine. Once that is installed, I will call Roby's to take their tank back. I would never EVER do business with this company again. I have had issues with their technicians leaving yard gates open (I have dogs, leave it the way you find it - closed) and they leave invoices UNDER the garage door where a car is stored despite having a side and front doors. (Who would do that?!) Their customer service is terrible, their receptionists laughable bimbos and their employees simply aren't that bright. This place really needs to be boycotted and close shop. read more

My husband and I bought a house in Marion at the end of November. We have a propane tank, which was filled when we bought the house. Last week we were having trouble with our gas fireplace in the living room, but thought it had to do with batteries, got it working, but then the bedroom fireplace did not work either. We discovered that although our tank says we are "FULL", we obviously are out of propane. My husband called early yesterday morning to ask someone to come out, no answer so he left a message. We had no response so he called again and left another message early afternoon. We waited again till 3:45 when my husband called yet again. This time someone answered the phone and instead of being helpful as we are NEW customers, we got "You should have signed up for an account earlier", we won't be able to get there so don't plan on it. Seriously, how about telling us that early in the AM so we could have gotten someone else. How about customer service, do you know the term? So here we are in a snowstorm with no running fireplaces. Our tank says it is full, that is why we did not call earlier. Wow, hoping there are other options out there because this company does not know the first thing about good customer service. read more

Wish I didn't have to do business with Robys! We didn't realize when we built our house 12 years ago that when they install an underground tank they own it for a lifetime! They wait until the price is the highest and make deliveries when we dint even need it! Last spring we ran out of propane and it took them 3 days to come out and when they showed up they hooked up a small tank to my tank! They said someone would be in my neighborhood for delivery...They obviously were out of fuel...the office kept telling me stories for 3 days ! meanwhile I went without a hot shower and no propane to cook with!! in September they came out and delivered 300 gallons of fuel and let me a $900 bill! I was so furious! I had instructions that they are only to deliver 100 gals at a time! I'm seriously thinking of having my tank disconnected and get an above ground tank from another company! less stress! read more

Robys propane has the WORST customer service I have ever heard of or experienced. As a customer you should be treated with kindness and respect. Everyone in their office is rude and offensive. They charge $100 fee if you run out of propane and have to come for an unexpected delivery. Even after you agree to make this payment, which is only making them more money they make you feel awful for having to come out to your home. I wouldn't even give this company one star. I cant wait till this season of over so we can never use them again. read more

I have had Roby's for years and have always had a good experience when I have needed to call the office for any reason. I had no heat this winter and I called their 1800# and someone actual answered the phone at 1:00am (rare these days at anytime)! My family, and our family farm, has done business with Roby's since the father, Roby Sr. was in charge and the differences between how it was run by him, and how it is being managed by his son are like night and day. He, personally, treats customers that they have had for 30+ years like garbage and talks to them like they are petulant children. I will be using up this last tank from them, and then I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Like others have said I would give them 0 stars if I could, however I'll give the one star to the ladies in the front office who have always tried their best to be kind, despite whatever push back they get for this, and the delivery drivers who have all been hardworking, friendly guys who one can't help but pity for having to deal with someone like Mr. Roby Jr. read more

We had a gas fireplace installed in my inlaws home as a supplimental heat source as my father inlaw at 80 years of age was finding it difficult to keep up with the woodstove. I met with Roby's to arrange the install and they were very accomodating. I figured there would be a time when we would replace the woodstove with another propane appliance and they were happy to run a large enough line to where it needed to be so that we wouldn't have to re-run a new line when we upgraded. The final cost was a little more then the "rough" quote I got, but no big shakes. They have always been patient with getting payments, since I don't live there, (I'm 300 miles away), bills do get misplaced, but they are always happy to give me the accounting over the phone, and that seems to work best in my situation. The two times we had trouble with the stove, Roby's was right there to take care of it. Did they charge to run over and fix the issue... yes, but it was reasonable and fixed right the first time. Now, 2 years down the road, my widowed mother inlaw still uses Roby's, to me there is no other choice. As other reviews claim to have come upon rude people, I've never experienced this, the guys on the trucks are great and the girls in the office couldn't be more helpful. My dealings with Roby's have been as good as it gets. read more
