Two days later when the washing machine drained it flooded the laundry room. I called and was told I would have to pay again only this time it would be $1000.00. I do not feel I was treated honestly and now they want to hold no accountability. I would not recommend you use this company.

Shackleford's took zero responsibility - actually wanted to charge to replace the parts they supplied and installed, and of course took no responsibility for the thousands of dollars of water leak repairs. Now 2 years later, after having intermittent problems with the water heater, we had a factory trained tech come, and he identified that the water heater was installed incorrectly in the first place, when the Shackleford crew (who by the way are not authorized installers of Navien water heaters) left screws loose inside the unit. The occasional glitch happens ..... but after multiple issues it's clear there is a pattern of negligence. Oh, and don't bother calling them for help, once they know you have a problem with their plumbing install, they won't return your calls.

Because of the weather, it took longer than usual for the company to reach my home, and I had to go without hot water for a bit. Once they were able to get here, the technician quickly found the problem: a defective wire inside the housing. After that diagnosis, they had a replacement unit at my house the very next day. It was a tough stretch dealing with the storm and the unexpected failure, but Carroll & Sons ultimately made it right and stood behind their work.

I got quotes from 7 contractors to install a tankless water heater and move a gas pipeline (to enable furnace relocation). Carrol & Sons was the cheapest. However, while in the midst of the repair, they stated they hadn't included moving the gas line in the contract and wanted an additional $1,800. This, despite physically showing the work that needed to be done 3 times prior starting the work, and confirming the details over the phone. 2. While I was told they were going to complete the job within a week, once I paid the deposit they took a month to complete the job. I almost lost a significant tax credit for the water heater due to their irresponsibility. Moreover, because they didn't completed the job on time, I was unable to conduct other energy efficiency upgrades before the end of the year, losing a significant amount of money in tax credits. 3. Installed the wrong water heater model. I called to confirm the water heater model prior giving the deposit. However, I noticed the mistake immediately after the installation. They installed a model that was about $300 cheaper and lacked one of the features I was specifically looking for. 4. They installed the exhaust/intake pipes in the wrong wall, despite having discussed this three times (including the day of the installation. I wanted the pipes towards the side of the house, so it would be covered by the landscaping. However, they installed it towards the back of the house on top of a basement window (that was meant to be converted into an egress window). After reflecting on this experience, I realized that Carrol & Sons used very generic terms in the contract's scope of work, followed by reassurances over the phone, and surprises/headaches later. Overall, they turned what was meant to be just another repair into a nightmare.

They set a time to come look, and knew what to get. Then had everything ready for us, and did the job, informing along the way what was happening. The second job more to change a well-housing and pipes connecting to water source, they changed all of that too. Had looked at it previously, to get the information on the project- to get the tools, back when the water heater was done. Seeming their time spent, and then once we were ready, came by- got the scope again and then picked up the products and set a day to work. That was all done- and have now water running again without fear of blowing out anything in the well. Future jobs are planned- coming up with remodeling. Waiting on them for the pricing to get that all firm and prepared, so when the job come's all will know what is needed. My word to ANYONE that has any difficulty, getting to people; constant- repetition in informing them what is needed and also, send emails as well with pricing- that helps a ton. Keep after it, after all we are in the process of getting the job completed as well. They do great work, and show up. And, things are working when they leave.

After getting the bladder…read morereplaced by one plumber I've already reviewed, and well pump replaced by a second plumber, we found out our filtration system was also dying on us and would need to be replaced quickly. After being ghosted by our first plumber, and finding out the second one we used would not be able to get to us in a timely manner, we reached out to Alexander & Sons. They came out to get a water sample to determine what type of system we would need and that was the extent of their service. They claimed we had bacteria in our system (but never provided a report) and would need to shock it before performing work. After a few phone calls and no shows, they claimed they came out to do it. Unfortunately for them, my security cameras told otherwise. When I called them back to confirm, I was then ignored for a week. I called another company, who came out, tested, and replaced our system in the time it took this company to ignore me and reach back out to me. When I informed them I went with someone else and told them they never came back, the person on the phone told me they did. I then informed them that they did not because A) my security cameras never caught them, and they would have if they had come in my driveway and B) there was something left behind on the well cover by the plumbers who replaced my well pump. She then called me back and left a voicemail (which I still have) telling me to get my cameras checked because they did come out and move a pair of pliers from the cover. Only problem? It was electrical tape the previous plumbers left behind next to the well which I then placed on top of the cover when cutting grass, not pliers. So either the plumbers lied to her and she didn't know or she lied to cover for them. Either way, unacceptable. Overall, I would avoid them and go with a larger company who, even though you may pay more, at least gets the job done.

The technician was nice and came over to look and provided a cost (165) for repair, which I kindly agreed upon and he mentioned that he had to order parts. Well after a week and a half he visited today did the install and then says the price is now 215. I'm not happy with how a company does business in that manner. Personally I should have known better and asked for the order in writing but I presumed that they were of a good and trustworthy company so I didn't. Commitment and integrity I feel is lacking. Should have honored the price agreed upon. And if there was such a difference between the two should have made me aware prior to doing the job not after. I called the office and ha e not heard back from the company. Not sure I would feel comfortable recommending them or even considering them back for more work. If you do anything, be sure to get it in writing. Update - the company has reached out to me and we did discuss what corresponded. I'll continue to update this review based on final outcome.

I initially called another highly recommended plumber who said that he couldn't access the valve and he would have to cut a hole in the back and replace the water heater, etc which made no sense to me.
