They…read moreinsisted on replacing it at a cost of more than $300, which did not include the cost to repair and paint the drywall that would need to be cut out to access the piping. Another company wanted more than $300 to "repair" the leak, but pushed the almost $600 to replace the spigot, with added costs for repairing drywall. I called Edwards Plumbing and Electric. Scott said that he had a repair kit that should fix the problem. He texted that he was enroute. He arrived, diagnosed the problem and quickly removed the spigot stem, replaced worn out parts from the kit and reinstalled it. It worked great and the cost was significantly lower than other estimates - significantly. I will definitely contact him again.

THEY RIPPED ME OFF!!!…read more I had a toilet that needed to be lifted up and resealed and then just bolted back down. Very quick and straightforward job. It should've been a red flag right away that the front desk person who answers the phone said "I have no access to pricing"; like it would really be impossible for her to have some kind of quick price list next to her phone to give me a ballpark of what I could expect it to cost? She would not tell me anything about pricing and said someone had to come out, but that "there is no charge for an in-home inspection." Of course no one's expecting an exact, to-the-penny quote over the phone, especially without even seeing it, because everyone's situation is different. But she wouldn't even give me a price range of what to expect. These people have done a job for me before and I was happy with the price and everything like that, ...but I think they're using variable pricing and sizing you up by sending someone into your house first to feel you out on what you can probably afford and then they present you with "fixed" price options off of a tablet anyway. Well, I've got to ask. If the option prices are fixed on a tablet, why can't the person answering the phone give somebody a price range??? Anyway, the guy came out and told me it was going to be $520 to unbolt the toilet, lift it up, reseal, and then bolt it back down. He was literally not even in there for 22 minutes. This tactic is designed to make you feel pressured and under the gun to just go ahead with it because now you've got someone standing in your house waiting for an answer. If the lady had told me over the phone that it was going to be over $500, I probably would've said "Thank you for your time. I'm going to call around and get some more prices." They knew that once they had someone in the house and ready to do the job, you're probably going to go forward with it because the next company might say "yeah I'll do $400 and I'll see you in three weeks" I talked to some friends later who had similar work done recently and they said "You paid how much????!! The standard for that job in this area is about $350. You got had." I'm never going to use Smooth Plumbing again, I strongly recommend you don't either.

A little over a week it backed up again. He came back and snaked it again. Later that same day it backed up again and the toilet over flowed and when you flushed the upstairs toilet it came up thru the downstairs shower. He came back the next day. This time he decided to snake it from the septic tank back to the house. He got the snake stuck so climbed under our crawl space to get it unstuck. He then told me that when he went under our house he saw two leaks in our pipes. I told him my husband had been under the house recently and nothing was broken. I told him he busted our pipes when he tried to get the snake out. He admitted to doing it. I told him since he broke it that he needed to fix it free. He said in the signed contract that if the snake breaks anything they are not liable. He said he could fix it but it would cost over 600.00 snd that was just an estimate. I asked him to tape the leaks up and take pictures of the leaks. He used the silver tape you use on duct work which was still leaking. He told me it was just a little leak. I climbed under and the leaks were not tiny eaks like he said. I had him put 2 buckets under the leaks. When my husband came home he removed the tape and found a 3 1/2 inch hole in one pipe and a 4 1/2 inch hole in the other. Now we have to fix his mess. And last but not least the same repair guy that came out 3 times had awful body odor each time and his clothes were filthy. I won't do business with them again because they can't be trusted. You shouldn't either
