Ahh! The Robin's Nest! Now this is a place to talk about! For starters, this is a place where everything is homemade! The portions are like as if you went back to 1975! You really get your moneys worth in this place! The food is to DIE FOR! Everything tastes like grandma's cooking! I am a southern guy, and this is the closest thing you'll come to as being country cookin in the lower peninsula! There are so many different breakfast/lunch options! It's not open for dinner, so make sure you show up early morning/afternoon! The history of this place is crazy! The original building burned down, and they had to rebuild it from foundation! They have a huge mural on the wall that nods to that event. The staff are so friendly! It's like as if you walked into your own kitchen and people were happy to see you. That's the big charm of Eaton Rapids! Everyone is so damn nice! The restaurant is pretty decently sized. And plenty of parking out front. I would suggest calling ahead if you are bringing a group. We've been for breakfast twice and lunch/brunch once. I really enjoy some of the creative combos for food. Our most recent trip I had a skillet with potatoes, green peppers, onions, cheese, and fried chicken. It was so satisfying! Definitely save room or share a cinnamon roll with someone. Amazing home cooking! Large portions. Down home service. Cute murals throughout. I saved the best for last (but order it first because they may run out) their AMAZING cinnamon rolls! They come in two sizes and the large fills a platter! It's comes warm and swimming in icing. My coworker and I ordered a large to split, not knowing the treat we were in for. They were out of small. He couldn't finish his 1/2 because he said after eating all but four pieces that it was too sweet, so I finish mine and his! I'm not from the area so I plan my area weekday meetings for any day but Monday because they're closed on Mondays. I highly recommend it and not just the cinnamon rolls. Food is amazing especially their skillets or biscuits and gravy. The staff have also always been very kind and attentive. However their owner Robin seems like a nice woman, but can be VERY intense. Their hours also aren't the best, but I can understand why since their menu is mainly breakfast and lunch food. However these small issues aren't a huge deal, and I still will plan to stop in, here and there. read more

Let's be realistic, you don't walk into a place like this and expect five star service. But a person should expect promptness and competency. I suppose the regulars have more time for lunch, but I don't, not on a busy Tuesday. It took nearly 30 minutes for my skillet to come out, with the restaurant half empty. This just doesn't work for me. The food itself was nothing special either. Dried out chicken, under cooked onions, too much cheese that clearly came from a bag. I wasn't impressed when my bill had to be corrected either, as I'd been overcharged for an item. Their menu is also plastered with "no substitutions" in bold print on every page. The only good part of the meal was the toast, which a homemade taste to it and was generously buttered. Overall I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

I come visit from california a couple times a year and I always eat at Robins Nest. Robins nest is a great local breakfast place. The potatoes are cut here, not frozen, and the bread is thick cut and from a bakery, awesome, eggs are cooked great and the prices are good. This is a farm to table breakfast spot and it's always great. In California this kind of breakfast would run about $20 a person. The service is always friendly. read more

I never though dough was tough but the cinnamon rolls here are tough as nails and the cost is a mere 7.95 for a cinnamon roll. I had a patty melt that was very good. You really have to want to eat here. The food is at best average for a small town like most of the other reviewers agree. The biggest problem that happens to this place is the service is way to slow. Even for a mom and pop restaurant. Does it really take 30 to 40 minutes to make a skillet breakfast that is already frozen? The biscuits and gravy is terrible also. How can sausage be pink? If you cook it sausage usually turns grey after it is cooked. One of the other biggest problems most people say about this place is that they never seem to be open. Which is more than proof when you show up at 3pm on most days and the doors are locked. If you have the time go further in town and try one of the other restaurants. I am sure you will find a much better experience food wise there. read more

We had not been to this restaurant since it got remodeled after their fire a few years ago. That was our loss because our dinner here yesterday was delicious! I had a fabulous salad that I had to partially take with me it was so large and so fresh! My husbands olive burger was delicious. Not a big fan of this place. The rectangular floor plan & atmosphere is pretty lame as well. Mostly locals frequent here I think because of very limited options in Eaton Rapids for a sit down cooked meal. Have only had breakfast here but it's sub-par at best compared to other breakfast joints in Charlotte, Jackson or even Leslie. Had to wait for our order again for some reason and it wasn't that busy. And to top it off it wasn't even that hot so we asked to have it reheated. Our waitress was apologetic but the owner Robin copped an obvious attitude over our request and never said a word when she brought it out to our table. Just dropped it off and walked off. We gave this place another chance after our last attempt here was less than satisfactory but apparently it is what it is. This place won't be getting any more money from us I can tell ya that. We'll drive to Charlotte Eaton Place for breakfast before we set foot back in this birds nest. read more
