I have to add to all these reviews. This tow company is responsible for some of the worst human interactions I have ever experienced in my entire life. And the comments from the owner just go to show that most of the reviews are 95% accurate. A story similar to others on Yelp: I recently watched from my back porch as the BPD came to stop an illegal tow that was taking place across the street from my building. Not only was the tow truck driver about to try and tow an Audi A4 2-Litre Quatro that belonged to a resident who paid for the spot and had the proper decal, he was caught red-handed trying to break into said vehicle to do so without using a flatbed. I heard very clearly as he yelled at the residents who came to ask him what he was doing there and I heard every single, "PAY THE F---ING DROP OR GO BACK INSIDE" and "I DON'T GIVE A F--K" as my neighbors called the police while they begged this guy to wait for this to be sorted out. Long story short, BPD showed up within a couple minutes and blocked the driveway, the Audi was put back down and the tow truck left in a hurry. Now some marketing 101: Don't start every reply to a poor review with "(Insert name here) you are NOT being truthful". At this point I'm starting to think that it's being copied and pasted from the same old reused Word document. Yelp reviews that stay publicly on your page come from dedicated Yelpers who have an established history of writing proper reviews for businesses in the area. You will have to go pretty darn far to discredit them, but in attempting to do so you look even worse and just give more credit to their reviews. Lastly: Your employees are disrespectful, poorly spoken, and entirely out for everyone's cash regardless of the legal integrity of the tow in question. I understand you have a lot of contracts in the Boston area. At one point you probably earned each and every one fair and square due to some kind of amazing service, but that level of service just isn't there anymore. A better guess would say you guys just charge a lot less than every other tow company around. However, I will still be contacting the management company that I rent my parking spot from to recommend that they move to a new towing company as soon as possible. read more

I was in a automobile accident in which I was transported to the hospital. This business towed my vehicle. There are a several of dishonest and unexplained charges on the bill. The charges are as follows: Towing - $108 Storage - $105 Unlock - $75 Road Service - $75 Winch/Removal - $75 Other - $108 Total $546 First, the legal amount for storage is no more than $35 for 24 hours. The car was stored for 41 hours, and I was charged 72 hours. Second, I was charged an "unlock" fee. My car was at the accident scene, and the keys were in it/with it. I am unclear as to what the road service fee AND the winch fee are. They were picking my car off the road and towing - not winching it. There is also a a fee for "other" of $108 (same price as the tow), which they didn't satisfactorily explain to me. They claimed it was a "drop fee," but there was a field for "drop fee" and it was marked $0. Either way, a "drop fee" indicates another company towed it, which wasn't the case. I called to see if they would give me explanations to the inexplicable charges. Their responses were expectedly nonsensical. This business is dishonest to its core, and it's a predatory business. The dishonest manager, named "Mike" told me he can "charge me whatever he wants because it was an accident" - which obviously, is another lie. They prey on unfortunate people. This business overcharged me $293 of a total $546. Update: Does anyone have a list of businesses that use Roberts Towing so we know which businesses in Brighton/Allston to avoid? Also here's a website about what to do if you catch Roberts illegally towing you and how to file a complaint to Boston City Council, everyone wronged by them should do this. http://endpatroltowing.wordpress.com/ K R, do they REALLY do a good job? Or are you just measuring by the lack of illegally parked cars in your lots and their responsiveness to your calls? If you look around online there are many MANY claims of people having been ILLEGALLY towed by Roberts, myself as one of them. I have now officially boycotted the Whole Foods in Brighton as they use Roberts towing, who illegally towed me while I was shopping in the WF for less than an hour. They are obviously responsive to your calls as every tow gains them profit, however as a business owner you are responsible for hiring an ethical tow company. You may unknowingly have many ex customers who have been illegally towed. read more

Robert's Towing - I parked my car behind the lot of the apartment I lived in. There is no sign indicate it is a private parking lot or permit parking only. - Towing Near Me - Brighton, Massachusetts

Just bought a car and 4 days later Roberts Towing picked it up when my daughter parked at a friend's condo in Brookline - she didn't know she needed a sticker for that lot. But live and learn. What was unacceptable was, when we picked the car up from Roberts' lot in Brighton, the car was damaged. Bumper and spoiler damage - it's going to cost over $1600 to repair - IF the body shop doesn't find more damage. We tried to get insurance info from Roberts to make a claim but the dispatcher said "you have to call when a manager is in." And we did. 3 times... and the manager NEVER returned a phone call. Finally got the insurance information for Roberts from the DPU (Massachusetts Dept of Public Utilities). Filed a claim. Company said given the car was undamaged prior to the tow they'd pay the claim - all set to go. Then got a call from the insurance company - oops - the car was towed by subcontractor, we don't insure them. Who knows if the sub is licensed by the state. Their insurer, Safety Insurance, said the "Kope company" towed the car. And someone from Roberts sent them a picture of our damaged car and said it was damaged BEFORE the tow and the claim was denied. You must be kidding me - the car was IMMACULATE. Sent the insurance company a photo of the car and bill of sale from 4 days earlier showing the bumper & spoiler intact. The insurance adjuster inspected the car and stated the damage "absolutely resulted from a tow." Needless to say the car was in NO accidents since then but the insurance company said "that didn't prove anything." Pop quiz: - either the car got towed during the 4 days after I bought it & right before Roberts/ Kope towed it, damaged then and I didn't know about the tow or the damage - or Roberts/ Kope committed out and out insurance fraud, providing the insurance company with false statements by misrepresenting the photo of the damaged car as BEFORE their towing You decide. We get that cars even inadvertently parked in someone else's spot deserve to get towed and tow guys will never be popular. But anyone doing this should lose their business license and be held accountable. read more

No one likes to be towed. I understand that whole-heartedly. Still, being wrongly towed from my PERMIT parking lot (that is private property by the way) was especially frustrating. My experience with Robert's Towing has been a long and drawn-out saga. I ended up serving them paperwork for small claims court after not being able to reach Robert (who I was told was the only person who could tell me WHY I was towed) after dozens of daily attempts by both myself and my management company. When I did talk with someone on the phone (usually a woman) she was rude, unprofessional and kept saying that she would "leave Robert a note to call me". He never did. I missed 3 mornings of work- One to pick up my car that was wrongly towed (and I was charged $179 cash), the second to file small claims paperwork and the third to go to the trial. As a therapist for preschool children with very high needs, it was especially concerning and frustrating to have to miss their therapy sessions. I did not pursue this claim to get my money back. I pursued this claim because innocent people (such as my neighbors and my clients) are being scammed by Robert's Towing. If this had happened to one of my clients, they would most likely be forced to choose between getting their car back or eating for the week. This is a social justice issue and Robert is running a shady business. After four long months and three court dates, I finally received a check from Robert's Towing in the mail. Hopefully Robert himself will see this review and take a minute to reflect on his business and the people he hires to do the job. And if not...karma. read more

My wife parked in the EastWest Bank Parking lot on a Saturday when the bank was closed. The signs in the parking lot read "EastWest Bank Customers Only while Conducting Bustiness After Hours Parking Limited to 20 Minutes. When she returned to the car 10 minutes later the car was already up on the truck. Him: You can't park here because you aren't doing business with the bank Her: The bank is closed. And I have been here less then 20 minutes. Him: It's for the ATM Her: It doesn't say the ATM it says 20 minutes Him: It will cost a $50 drop fee to put the car down. Cash Only Her: I will need a receipt Him: I don't have any receipts She dashes to the car that is up and sits in the driver's seat and calls the police. They tell her he has to give her one. When she gets off the phone has "found" the receipts. She pays him cash and gets a receipt. Since then the "After Hours Parking Limited to 20 Minutes" clause has been removed from the sign. read more

I parked in the parking lot where I live and I got towed, the people on the phone were extremely rude.

Maybe I just don't write well. Let me try again so even a Towing company owner can understand... "It is completely untrue that anyone was "waiting for your wife to leave the premise". Our drivers would have no way of knowing 1) which car was hers, or, 2) that she intended to patronize Peet's "for over an hour" then leave the premise to patronize another business "15 feet away". - Roberts Towing My wife was at Peets for over an hour and THEN SHE went with me next door for 10 minutes. In that 10 minute period, you found our car and fully hooked it up. Unless you guys had perfect timing, it is a more than fair statement to say 'The towing company was APPEARENTLY waiting for her to leave". Also, there was no "she intended to patronize Peets for 1.5 hours".. She DID patronize Peets for 1.5 hours prior to being towed (and we offered to show your employee the proof in the form of a credit card charge... but of course he had no interest in that). "By your own admission, you appealed to the property owners, The Growth Company, who stood firm, they do not want people parking their vehicles in their parking lot to patronize neighboring businesses who do not have their own parking." - Roberts Towing Birds of a feather. "This is obviously not a "misuse of their parking policy". In fact, the only one misusing their parking policy, frankly, was you." - Roberts Towing This back to understanding simple English.... She WAS at Peets for 1.5 hours, then we went next door for 10 minutes. In that 10 minute period you found us and you hooked us up. Add on the fact that the parking lot was EMPTY. That WAS CLEARLY a misuse of the parking policy, and one that is echoed multiple times in the many 1 star reviews your company has received. You can try to talk your way out of this, but sadly all a person has to do is read what others have said to glean the truth. The correct answer is 'sorry sir, we'll refund the fee". The wrong answer is "bla bla twist the facts to make yourself sound less guilty" read more

I was ready to hop on here and write a mean review just like the rest of the pack, but then I came to my senses once I cooled down. These guys are just doing their job, bottom line. My car got towed because I was parked in a spot that wasn't mine, simple as that. Sure you're angry, but don't throw a tantrum and bring the business down. Also, did you ever think that the drivers can be rude because they have to deal with bullshit 24/7? Cut 'em a break. I'd give you guys 5 stars, but you did tow my car. ; ) read more

DRIVERS IN BOSTON BE AWARE!!!! On August 31, 2020 I went to Boston from New York to move my son from one apt. to another. I parked my vehicle in front of 17 Radcliff to unload his furnishings. While bring up furniture management called Robert's Towing and in a matter of seconds towed the vehicle. The vehicle was open with the keys in the ignition, the doors open, my wallet with cash, my cell phone and furnishings that had not been taken out yet. I had to call Uber to take me to the establishment. While in route I called and was told the fee to take the vehicle out of the pound would be $143.00. Upon arriving there at first they would not allow me to go to the vehicle to get my wallet out. They said I had to get ok from the window. I gave them $140.00 in $20.00 bills and I put together $1.00 coin, 6 quarters and 5 dimes to then be told that they don't accept coins. I had to withdraw money from their ATM and pay a fee to make up the $3.00. I find this totally unacceptable. I believe that the management company for the complex must get a percentage, and find it unfair of their actions. How is one suppose to move in. I also found it strange that only my vehicle was towed. Was it because it had New York plates? This shows the hatred Bostians have for New Yorkers. Or was it because we are a minority? What ever the case, I now HATE BOSTON AS WELL!!!! Nevertheless, I will report Robert's Towing to the BBB, and will look into any further actions I can take. An IRS Audit would suit them well to see if they are reporting all these cash transactions. In conclusion, I would like to say that the staff needs training in customer service and as far as I know coins are still a form of payment in these United States. They haven't heard the last of me.... read more

My experience with this company was the worst in my 28 years being in this country... We took our disabled mother who cannot walk without a walker and is 82 years old to our house for Thanksgiving. The next day we drove her back and parked at the ramp at the back entrance of her building. There is no ramp at the front of the building and our mother cannot use the stairs. So we parked at the ramp, put a handicapped placard (!) and the blinkers. We helped her upstairs. It took about 8 minutes. When we came back, our car was towed despite the blinkers and the handicapped placard... These people are lacking some basic compassion and humanity. They only care about cash they can get. They will do anything for $150. It is so sad, I feel really sorry for them. Don't ever go near this "business". Save yourself from dealing with probably the worst people in the Boston area. Stay away from these lost souls who are lacking the very basic signs of humanity and compassion. read more

If I could I would give this place negative 100 stars , usually towing companies are rude but this place is beyond rude . The tow truck driver was rude and ignorant as hell. My friend recently moved into a new place & her car got towed because she was parked In her neighbors spot for 10mins . When we came outside to the car being towed my sister realized she had left her PRESCRIBED ANXIETY MEDICATION in her purse In the car. She told the driver that she needed to grab her medicine and he started to drive off. Then I grabbed the car door trying to open it or to at least get the driver to stop so I could get my sisters medication. And instead he sped up while I was HOLDING ON TO THE CAR DOOR !! Fucking ridiculous, if I didn't let go of the door this rude ass fucking driver would have taken me with him. Dropped my friend off after working all day. In her house for 5 minutes, next thing I look out and was being towed. I ran out telling the driver I'm leaving, told me to pay him 75 dollars and he will let me go. The car wasn't even hooked on. I asked if he could just cut me a break seeing how I was leaving. Said hey watch and hooked the car up to the truck. 75 he said. I know for a fact he pocketed the cash. I'm thankful he let me go to save me the trouble but c'mon Bobby, cut the kid who worked all day some slack. read more

It is incredible to me that a towing company appears to accept and enter into an agreement with the management company that runs the property of 17 Radcliffe Rd condominiums in Allston , Mass to in fact tow their new occupants as they are in the process of moving in. Yes I understand that management have their right to tow . However there is a blatant abuse here that must be exposed. To be towed while in the active process of moving in. It is the end of August- the first of the Sept - who does not know it is moving in and moving out time ! As for the manner in which Property management conducts itself - I will address this elsewhere . There was no justification - we had made at least 5 trips to this apartment since the furniture was too big to fit in my Subaru Outback! There were boxes, keys in ignition, wallets and phones still in vehicle - help going up with heavy furniture needed another hand ( a third person) to get it past the 2nd floor stair railing! So now with - No money and No Phone . Thankfully my son had his and we called an Uber. 10 min car ride told $143 - only cash and yes also no coins! Since when are coins not currency ?! My opinion Robert's Towing ---financial kickbacks with Property Management. I wonder how many such agreements there are? My next write up will be to the Better Business Bureau. Terrible Business and Terrible for Boston . Who would want to stay and start their lives here? Shameful especially in these times of Covid 19 when actions of good faith should be expected and go a long way! read more

Adding to my previous review, roberts towing has towed my car for a THIRD time from my spot. 1. I pay $150 and have a designated spot 2. I have a sticker 3. I have a note in the car with my contact info 4. They put me on a no tow list AND confirmed that with me just 4 days ago as well as said "oh yea that should not have been towed" today They still towed my car. And then said they couldn't bring it back right away so I had to take an hour out of my day to go get it. Absolutely awful. Straight up stealing my car. This towing company has to be the worst trash of business that has ever existed. After many calls and days that have gone by without a call back from the owner Robert. My friend received a call back from "him" today. Her car got towed on Saturday night from Allston in an area where there WERE NO VISIBLE SIGNS. When we pick up the car we pay $143 CASH to get it back. When we search for things we left in the car (medical marijuana and A bottle of Hennessy) they were missing. We called right away and spoke with Anthony who was the guy who we paid to get the car back. He told us to call Sunday and speak with Robert. He said he couldn't give out the drivers name. We call Sunday and of course Robert isn't working. Fast forward to today, my friend gets a call from "Robert" the owner but really it wasn't Robert! The person was pretending to be him the whole time and defending his "driver" that has worked with him for the past "8 years" and nothing like this has happened before. Which is a complete lie as you can see from the other reviews. These people are thieves and we will be reporting the business to BBB. NOTHING Was resolved a course cause these people are crooks. They towed my car from my parking spot in my own assigned parking lot. They must have entered my apartment's parking lot at night and essentially stolen my car. Not only do they illegally tow people's cars, they are incredibly rude, insensitive, and cruel. They insisted that I was a drunk driver and must have "forgotten" where I had parked. Seeing as it was my assigned parking spot at my apartment, that is simply illogical. I know they need money, but stealing people's cars, lying to and screaming in their faces, and making horribly offensive comments is not the way to do it. I was parked in a painted, clear spot and was sitting across the street when I got towed. I went over and the man outside told the driver to pull away faster. Someone was parked next to me in no spot at all, and I was the one who got towed. The signs at the gas station referenced ABC Towing but I was directed to Robert's Towing. The workers and drivers all had a very inappropriate demeanor and made me (young female) feel very uncomfortable. They're incredibly rude. I was literally given attitude by a lady who picked up the phone because I needed someone towed from a spot. All I'm trying to do is make sure I can park in a spot that I pay money for and that has a sign saying to call Robert's -- the attitude isn't necessary. I'm sorry if that individual on you end is having a difficult life or there are some outside circumstances, I really am, but I don't need to be the pincushion for that, and unless I'm being disrespectful (I wasn't), I deserve to be treated with respect. That's just being a decent human being to another human being on the most basic level. My experience doesn't matter that much to Robert's -- that is pretty obvious. But if you (the reader) take a look at some of the nasty responses that Robert's has posted to other people's reviews, you will see how they view doing business and customer relations. You don't have to agree with your customers -- plenty of people erroneously complain about being towed -- but you don't have to be rude to them either. To the individual from Robert's who is responding to people: you can respond to as many 1 stars as you want, painfully misusing punctuation and threatening/reporting people, but in the end of the day it would seem that the majority of people hate your guts and that's never good for business. You need to admit that sometimes people on your end make mistakes, just like your customers, and that is part of being human. Maybe find the words "I'm sorry" before jumping to being so defensive. Develop some empathy! read more

Let's just say this place sucks . first of all having a towing company preying and waiting for you to leave your damn car for less than 5 min is ridiculous . then having to charge a damn fee of 160 is obsurd. then to deal with the bullshit from the women in the window makes the whole situation very frustrating. many people make money some ways others make it their ways but these people are so desperate you have to wait for people to leave their vehicles not even knowing if there is some type of emergency happening . i'm sure you will be closed soon. then me and another couple had to walk 10 min to the nearest atm for the women at the window to shut the gate so cars will not leave - almost hit the girls head and as soon as she told this women in the window all she said was your head was no where near that ....... okay so in my eyes you see three african americans trying to get their vehicle -you are charging them an extra arm and a leg for having gotten towed ..... then you can't even make eye contact when trying to communicate out frustration so instead you close a damn gate that almost hit a womens head and respond by saying "you were no where near that " ohhhhhh boy please do everyone a favor and close . please and thanks from my people to yours read more

First off, if you get towed by Robert's know it is cash only. I am one to admit I am wrong. I have been towed by Robert's Towing on more than just this occasion, and was always in the wrong. I obviously was upset, but it was my fault and I had to pay the penalty. Tonight was different. I was parked in a spot that was not clearly labeled as "No Parking" but it was an apartment parking lot so I should have used better judgment. My fault there. This is where I am no longer in the wrong. I hear the tow truck from inside and I run out to catch it. The guy is hooking up my car. I say this is my car and he says "It is coming with me". I ask "Are you serious?" to which he replies "very serious". He then got in his truck and drove off. This was not a pleasant exchange and he was very rude. I finish what I need to do where I was and have my girlfriend drive to the Robert's towing lot. When I get there, I am greeted by the night dispatcher. This guy was not rude at all. I explain how I ran out and caught the guy before he left, and explain that i looked up that I should have been able to pay a $50 drop fee since I caught him before he left. He said that is correct and called the truck driver. He asked him if I caught him, and then said "you were not supposed to do that, you should have unhooked it for a $50 fee" (not exact words, but it came down to that, and I clearly heard him say "you are not supposed to do that") He gets off the phone and says "He said you refused to pay" to which I replied "I was never offered the drop fee and the driver just drove off" He said there was nothing he could do other than try to call the manager during the day. I am not saying my car should not have been hooked up as the super for the bulding I was in called it in, and I am not saying the guy at the desk was a jerk, I am saying the tow truck driver lied to the dispatcher and said I refused to pay, after he already admitted his wrong doing over the phone (or so I assume from what I heard on my end). Like I said, I will admit when I am wrong, but this time I felt cheated. For more on the tactics of Robert's towing, read this article from the Boston Globe: http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2011/12/04/to_avoid_a_tow_avoid_parking_in_a_certain_strip_mall_in_allston/?page=1 read more

BUT... there was an incident last night where my friend's car was mistakingly towed from MY parking spot that I OWN, because the towing guy couldn't see the numbers on the ground, so he towed the car from spot 69 instead of from spot 71 (cmon dude, the number 70 has a number on each side of it... get a clue). This resulted in the wrong car being towed, and my friend having to pay $110 bucks for NOTHING. Upon calling, I got a crabby dumbass guy who put me on hold 3 times to check something simple, and each time he came back, said "Robert's Towing" like I was not on hold at all, but was a new caller, and when I said, "No, I'm on hold for you", he answered with, "what was I looking for?" DUDE, did you get dropped on your head and lose your short term memory? I don't want to be snobby, but working in a tow yard is not exactly NUCLEAR SCIENCE. The encounter ended with the guy saying that there was no one there but him (excellent), so no manager to talk to, and the last thing he said was "I really don't care", before hanging up the phone on me. Honestly, if you get your car towed, whether it was your fault or not, be prepared to go to Roberts and treat whoever is working there like a 2 year old, because that's how smart they are. Don't try to explain or rationalize. Throw some money at the jackass, get the hell out, and hope to god you never have to do it again. read more
