My sister was parked for 3 minutes in a private complex in Brighton, and they already had her car on the tow truck and told her she had to pay $90 to get it down, or else $150 after it was towed. This feels like extortion. They were simply waiting for her to park in order to nail her and get the fee. I called for an explanation the next day; they lady was unbelievably rude and hung up on me! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR TOWING! This company is completely predatory. They circle lots looking for cars to tow. I parked in my daughter's parking lot to help her carry her groceries in. We carried about 9 bags into the foyer of her building and then made multiple trips up and down the stairs to bring up her groceries. I went back out and they were just pulling my car our of the space. I was inside less than 5 minutes! It is impossible that someone called. The lot was 1/2 empty. My own groceries were still in the car in the back. The driver said "Show me a sign where it says you can park here to help your daughter upstairs with groceries. You parked here you get towed." They basically stole my car and then charged me $155.00 to get it back. This is robbery plain and simple. If you are a landlord or a management company and you are looking for someone to manage your towing, look elsewhere! These predators will only mean a lot of headaches for you with calls from irate people who live in your building. My review is not 1 star. I had to give 1 star at a minimum to post. Sketchy company with illegal business practices. I was towed from a residents spot that I have parked in for 8 years. When I called, I was told to "take it up with the property manager". So I proceeded to go to Robert's with the property manager of my apartment building who explained that my vehicle was towed out of my parking spot illegally. They still made me pay $141 to get it back and admitted no wrong-doing. My landlord and property manager then instructed me to file a claim at the county courthouse. Upon doing so, the county clerk told me I needed an individual's name (not just a business name) to go on the claim. When I called Robert's towing, they REFUSED to give me a last name of the owner. So I tried to get the name of the person on the phone, and of course he wouldn't give it to me either. Thankfully Google provided some help in finding Robert Kopelman as the owner. Was staying in Boston for a concert (from CT), and the night of there was a terrible snow storm. Completely terrible. It was Midnight when we coming back from the show trying to get to our hotel and it was the heart of the storm. None of the roads were plowed so we were forced to pull over into a Whole Foods and park there because we couldn't make it to our hotel. Robert, thank you for your candid reply and I would like to mention that just because the report and the video is from 4 years ago, it does not mean that Robert's Towing has improved as you sound quite proud of your operation 4 years ago so why change it, so the time factor does not play an effect in your defense. I simply stumbled upon both the video and the interview and discovered the multifaceted predatory routines and techniques towing company employees utilize to maximize profit. To be honest, I'm not trying to single you guys out as I believe all tow companies do this (tbh, I think you guys are very lucky and good in acquiring the towing rights to many "hot" properties around Brighton and Brookline), but I simply discovered the behaviors through researching Robert's Towing. Also, I don't blame you guys in doing this as all businesses exist to make a profit, but I do think people should be given the chance to look into how Robert's Towing became a multimillion dollar business in yearly revenue, but a multimillion dollar business that only takes cash? Talking about an opportunity for tax evasion... lol All I'm saying is a little due process would have been appreciated. Furthermore, I would like to mention that I was in Blanchard's Liquors when my vehicle was towed and your tow drivers did not make an announcement (or perhaps I missed it), so I don't know what you're talking about in trespassing a private property unless the lot is owned by Robert's Towing and you guys can tow whomever you wish that happens to be on that lot. In fact, what made this an unjust and inequitable tow is that when I showed your employee my receipt from Blanchard's, which was timestamped, your employee chose to ignore the evidence and held my vehicle hostage until I paid the fine. But the fact when the tow truck sees you coming, they hurry up to get you on the hook so they can charge you $50 for doing no work. And the fact your tow truck drivers lack respect for the person they just jacked for $50 is even better. UPDATE: I sued the company in small claims court, AND WON! BUH BAM! This morning (4/30/13) my car was boosted up on a tow truck by Robert's Towing. The vehicle was parked in the rear parking lot at Tynan Elementary School in South Boston (corner of Emerson and K Street). You can legally park there in the evening, until 7 AM in the morning. I arrived at exactly 7 to move my car, and a tow truck had already boosted it up. I told the driver to stop and he pulled out of the parking lot. I told him that it was 6:59 and he said, no it's 7:02, and said I was parked illegally. He immediately demanded a 90 dollar fee (cash only) because the car had been taken off the lot. I told him I saw him just drive it off the lot and asked him to put the car down be sensible, since I showed up right at 7 AM. He refused and said "rules are rules". I didn't have $90 on me, so I asked to go to an ATM. He said I "had two minutes". I had to run to an ATM, run back, and then he didn't have change, so I had to beg a local bakery to help me out. I felt I had no choice, so I gave him the money. Looking back on it, he must have put my car up on his truck prior to 7 AM, since I showed up right on time. I understand these tow truck drivers have to deal with angry people all day, and people who park illegally should have their cars removed, but that was not the case in this instance. I don't even know where to start. This is the worst experience I've ever had in my life!!!!! I've just moved here in Boston. I'm a therapist and I went to a resident's house to provide my services. They gave me a parking ticket to park in their apartment building. Halfway through my session, they warned that my car is getting towed. Left my patient to run and stop my car from getting towed. The dude asked me to pay right away $60 so they don't remove my car. I told them I have no cash and showed my parking ticket to show I was legally parked. The dude kept going to tell me that he doesn't care and if I didn't have the money, I'm getting towed. Then he continues by saying I'm getting an attitude and he will make me pay for my ego. He started cursing. And damaged the back of my car cuz he was so angry. I started crying cuz I just moved here and didn't know anybody to drive me to go get my car. He did now care. I stopped a car in a spot that was not clearly marked as private property or anything, in order to escort my wife to carry her luggage. During the ~30sec (!!), stealthy workforce approached our car and attempted to tow away. The workforce even told us that the "God" reported about our car, and refused to state his name. (Is that a so-called alternative fact??) Dear business owner: I know you will reply with your alternative facts. Worst experience today. Ran into B.U. Dental today for my appointment for them to tell me the doctor needs to reschedule. Walk out 15 minutes later to find my car had been towed. I asked the parking attendant across the street why they towed my car and he said "there's supposed to be a no parking sign there". Called the number, the woman was rude, told me the address and to bring 130 bucks. I asked the woman why I was towed and she said there's no parking there. I said there aren't even any signs. She says they don't need to post signs at every spot. I arrange a ride ( my husband luckily works at B.U. but has to clock out to get me) and she tells me cash only. Now we go to an ATM go back and she tells me $138! Luckily I had the extra money on me or we'd be going back to the ATM! I am not letting this go My response to Roberts towing How can the picture be "strategically"taken? A picture is a picture. There is a sign but it's in the spot in front of the Camry. I know you told me the MA General law. That doesn't make it right. If there is no parking on the whole street then the signs should say "no parking this side of street". How would anyone know that a sign above one spot saying no parking would mean no parking for the next 3 spaces either? I realize you probably deal with disgruntled people every day but honestly you make the whole situation worse. I don't believe I ever yelled and if I did then you were also yelling because we were talking the same. If you want your vehicle towed the wrong way this is the company for you. Robert's Towing tried to tow my AWD on a hook (HUGE no-no); an AWD vehicle MUST go on a flat bed. You also shouldn't be towing a car that's in park on a hook... it needs to be in neutral.... Just another reason for the flat bed. When it comes to professionalism and legality, I'm unsure who the woman riding around in the front of the truck with the tow driver was... If she works for the company my advance apologies, but I'm pretty sure it's safe to say she doesn't work for the towing coming. I'd advise looking into another business. read more

We called this place asking if our car was towed here after a snow storm. After giving the license plate number several times, the dispatcher said the car had already been picked up. We were obviously confused and wanted clarification since we definitely did not pick the car up. He accused us of being drunk and hung up the phone. I called again and he told me to come to the lot to check if the car was there and had been marked as picked up by mistake. So we took an uber down there, the car was not in the lot, and after I asked again if he's sure he can't get any more information about when the car was picked up or by whom, he decided to look at the date and the car was picked up LAST YEAR from a different towing incident. This was a huge waste of time, all the dispatcher had to do was CHECK THE DATE OF WHEN THE CAR WAS TOWED AND PICKED UP instead of refusing to look into it when we asked for clarification and making us think the car was stolen. If I could give 0 star I would. I parked for literally 2 minutes at a parking spot in front of a dialysis center. The parking lot was completely empty. It's not that I was being an awful person and taking the space of a patient. I am 36 week pregnant and I had to drop off a box next door to de dialysis place. I thought it wasn't a big deal. When I came back after 2 minutes, again, literally, this guy was towing my car. I asked him not to, please! My wife and I parked at the super cuts & 2 other businesses small parking lot at the corner of Hammond and Boylston Street in Brookline this afternoon (9/17/2015). Before proceeding to super cuts we went to Rockland Trust next door for less than 5 minutes. When my wife returned from depositing a check and was going to super cuts, our car was already attached to the tow truck to be towed away. We protested vehemently because we were previous customers of super cuts and could prove it. I called the Brookline Police and an officer responded. He informed me that the parking lot was private property and the towing outfit was within its rights. They had demanded $75 fine to prevent our car being towed. They lowered the fine for which I give them 1 undeserved star. We were, in effect, swindled out of $50 by an unscrupulous business which only serves business and has no regard for the individual or for unusual circumstances. I would recommend that nobody patronize a business whose parking lot has a sign prohibiting parking for customers not at that moment patronizing a business. It was 5 car lengths that the vehicle was dragged if that's more helpful. Rude I don't even write reviews but this gem deserved one. My car was towed from my buildings lot. Its permit parking only a permit which i clearly had on my windshield. Called the police when i saw my car was gone and they towed me it was towed by this lovely company. I called them and asked why they towed my car, the dispatcher was decent and helpful, i heard him call Robert to ask whats up with the car and why it was towed, i hear Robert respond calling my car a piece of shit, he checked it and sure enough he saw the permit sticker on my car but also decided to comment "she better make sure nobody puts some vodoo on her ass with this crucifix looking thing she has in the window" (this crucifix thing he spoke of was something my daughter wove in 3rd grade and looks nothing like whatever he mentioned) he probably felt stupid because he obviously doesn't know how to do his job, but i could've been spared the extra commentary, there was more mumbling from him but i don't know or care what else he was saying. They brought back my car, my next call is to the management office of my building to question there use of this company. I was parked legally at wholefoods in Brighton on a friday night (09/12/14) with a parking pass from a nearby restaurant (the pass was on the driver side dashboard). After dinner, when I was ready to take out the car, there was multiple towing trucks in the lot, ready to tow all the cars (legally there is nothing wrong with it). As I was pulling out my car, one of the towing truck literally dropped a car right behind me so that cannot I move my car anymore. As I got out of my car with my parking pass, the driver of the tow truck yells to his mate "this guy is *effing lucky, he has a pass". When I asked him to explain himself, he said that he was talking about someone else. He took a couple of minutes to remove the car. This place needs to be investigated. I own a condo in brighton. Our association has guest parking spots and you must put a sign in your window in order to prevent getting towed. I parked my car in a guest spot and let my father park in my garage. I come home..... the car is TOWED! (the sign and all). Parked in a 90min parking spot in the stop and shop parking lot in mission hill. After 42min I returned to my car and it was not there. It was 2:05am at this point. I called the number posted and they basically told me there was nothing they could do. I live out of town and have to work in the morning. I believe it would have been the correct course of action to return my car to me asap. Instead, I have to go to them in the morning, missing work, and claim my car and discuss the money they now owe me thanks to them illegally towing my car. First, she went to pick up her prescription at the CVS Pharmacy located right there next door. When in 5 minutes she returned to the parking lot, her car was towed away by Robert's/Frank's Towing located at 25 Good Enough Street in Brighton Massachusetts (what a great name for a street nesting a company like this!) Before going there to recover my daughters car, she and I went to the scene of towing event to check the signs and take pictures for future disputing the legitimacy of the towing company actions. While we were there, I went into Dunkin' Donuts shop to get my cup of coffee and croissant. Interestingly, the salesperson was not at the counter so I had to raise my voice calling her. As I analyse this part of the story, I come to conclusion most likely she may have already been on her way calling the towers and being monetarily incentivised by Towing for doing that. Later, when she was handing me my order, she did share that once people leave their cars in the parking lot to go to the CVS Store, that's is exactly when their cars get towed in a matter of five minutes. This is what happened to my daughter. How would this "teamwork" be possible, if the Dunkin' Donuts associates wouldn't be making these calls to the Robert's/Frank's Towing? Would you be so determined making such calls if not being monetarily incentivised by the towing company? The DD associate also said they tow near 10 cars a day there(!!!). All this sounds like a perfectly set up trap where unaware customers are being targeted as the victims of this scheme. Otherwise, how would that be possible to make such a good hay - as many as 10 cars per day?! As my daughter and I were staying in the car, the tow truck with two associates of the Roberts/Franks Towing pulled into the parking lot, turned around and approached the car that was parked next to mine. One of them asked me whether that was my car. I have no problem lying to mofos making money such an unattractive way and to save someone's car from getting towed away - the same way that my daughter's car did. So I said "yes". As later I was going to go to the tow yard for my daughters car, and was preparing for possible altercations there. So, I started filming the towing truck and two these two measerables. It is not illegal to record a video of anything I like, right? What happened next is clearly seen on the video: two towing associates literally committed assault (and I am very responsibly using this legal term) by approaching me much closer than what is considered a personal space, lighting their flashlights in my face an phone camera so their faces would not be identified, and acting outright aggressive and threatening. As I am trying to drive attention to this case to make the community aware, I still think the bigger issue here is that this corrupt business venture smoothly runs as a perfect setup for extortion of money under seemingly legitimate reason - the cars parked on the private property. I think there is a connection between the Dunkin' Donuts shop and Robert's/Frank's Towing and somewhat questionable special treatment of the named towing company by the BPD. I work with a property management company that needs cars towed about 3 times a day. Roberts is always there quickly and we've never had a problem with them towing the wrong car. I've seen the tow guys being yelled at and harassed by people who parked illegally and the workers always handle themselves professionally. They towed the wrong car ONCE in the 3 years I've worked with them and immediately brought it back and did not charge. I understand that everyone who has been towed by them would leave horrible reviews but as someone who actually uses the service regularly for the purpose of towing: they are great. read more

This is the worst parking, customer service, and un-human thing I have been a part of in memory. I parked my car all day in the garage near 930 Comm Ave to take a 7-hour exam. Knowing I would be taking an exam for a long time I chose to park in a garage to not get towed or a ticket. I then left the garage after paying around 4 PM. Realizing that I did not get a receipt for my parking (to get reimbursed by my company) I drove back around, pulled my car to the side of the road (leaving my car ON and with the 4 way flashers on) walked across the street (approx 30 feet away) to speak with the parking attendant for a receipt. In that amount of time (approx 15 seconds) the ROBERTS towing truck pulled up, threw their tow hitch under my car and lifted it up! I was in the middle of the street by the time he got to my car and screamed, "do not lift my car IM RIGHT HERE!!!" How is it that I can get towed with my car ON and with the 4 way flashers going, when I'm 30 feet away?? This "employee" I guess you could call it was extremely rude and said I could pay him in cash to get it lowered. I feel that this was a gross misuse of their "power" only for him to try and make some money and probably not claim it for work. I called the cops and they came and had my car put back down. No fine, no fee. Robert's is THE WORST! I cannot believe this could ever happen to someone that is only trying to get a receipt for parking legally all day. This drive obviously was stalking me as again, I was gone for 15 seconds. Really bad customer service and handling of the situation. I was towed from the old rite aid parking lot, even though I was a paid customer. I went to go pick up my car, and the woman told me that they made an announcement at the rite aid before they took the car away, which was completely false!!! When I was at the window waiting to pay and get my car back, I witnessed another truck backing a car into the impound lot, and backed it strait into a brick wall!!! They then proceeded to leave with that car, back to the place they found it initially. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!???? This business is doing illegal activity. Another time, they stalked my friend, towed her car while she was in it with the engine running. They forced her out, and her and her boyfriend followed these laughing fools in another car, to the lot. They followed these jerks on a joy ride around town, stopping at convenient stores for snacks and drinks with her car in tow, while pointing and laughing at them. This is pure harassment. This past week I was walking down chestnut hill avenue, and I saw a reckless driver from this company, who had a car hanging off the back sideways, and hanging by one tire. The car in tow was being dragged over the yellow line into oncoming traffic. The tow truck veered into the cumberland farms parking lot, almost hit me in the side walk, and just dropped the car HARD on the ground. He backed back under the car, and hooked it back up fast, and peeled out of the parking lot...no blinker or anything. I cant believe these incompetent, hard headed idiots are still in business. They need to be shut down. I regret not recording the license plates of these poor people's vehicles being damaged and mishandled so badly. Next time I see this, I am taking down info and reporting it to police. I hope other people do the right thing and report these incidents. We have to speak up and report these kinds of incidents to protect each other. read more

The worst people ever! These scumbags hooked my pick up while it was running and the lights were on! I crossed the street, and saw him race right to it and lift it. Than demand 50 in cash to drop it.
