I had a fabulous experience shopping at Robert's boutique! I was surprised when I was actually greeted by the owner and designer. I was first approached by his welcoming assistant who let us in the beautiful store. It felt like a special experience as soon as we walked in. I came here with a purpose and that was to find my mom the perfect formal dress to wear to a black tie wedding. She had been searching for months and was on the verge of giving up until I brought her here. Robert took such great care of her and really tried to figure out exactly what she was looking for. She is very picky but he ended up pulling several gorgeous gowns for her to try on. What I loved though too is that many of the designs could be customized depending on what she needed. He ended up having her try on a dress that she was really hesitant about and guess what...she loved it! It was the first and only dress she tried on! Let me tell you that this gown was drop dead gorgeous and I have never seen my mom look so happy trying something on. She was beaming. I loved how supportive he was through the whole process as well. He helped create a full outfit and she ended up getting a beautiful beaded clutch to go with it. She even ended up getting several additional pieces of clothing including this amazing black reversible faux fur jacket (which I may go back and buy for myself :). Wonderful Store. Lots of gorgeous pieces at various price points to fit many different budgets. I recommend doing what I did and tell them your budget when you walk in so they can show you items in your price range. I was recommended to this store and stopped by to look for a dress for my step-son's upcoming wedding. I had not planned on shopping that day but saw the store when I parked for an appointment nearby. I advised the clerk of my needs and she proceeded to insult me in several ways. She may not have meant it --- but in thinking about the experience, I will not shop here. Walking toward the dresses, I said that I am a size 14 --- she replied, "I can see that"; then asked if I wore sleeveless dresses and when I said I preferred something with a cap sleeve, she replied something like "I figured that". Then, not knowing my budget, when I looked at one of the frocks, she said that it was too expensive for me --- how did she know that $2,000 for a dress was more than I planned to spend? So, instead of going back to this store when I had time to shop, I went to Nordstrom's, had a delightful saleslady and bought a beautiful expensive dress! I took my mother in law to Robert Ellis this afternoon and what a time we had!! Linda and Robert were amazing! My mother in law had a double mastectomy and some other ailments which affects the clothes she's comfortable wearing. Linda was so patient and kind and went out of her way to make my MIL feel comfortable. This store is a true find for discerning shoppers. It's in studio city which I would never have expected. I recently checked it out because I was in desperate search of a dress for my daughter's graduation, and for a wedding in the Colorado mountains. There was a great selection, all very high end, and there was no pressure about trying on tons of things before making any decisions. Actually Robert the owner encouraged me to try everything, and was really helpful in showing me things that would work for me. I had a great time. The only reason I can't give this place five stars is that they are a little pricey. But I called ahead and I needed a nice dress fast that would work for an awards event and also a wedding that I had coming up. I find it difficult to get things in my size because I'm curvy busty but short. They assured me that they would make me feel comfortable and help when I called to see if they carried my size. The ladies took amazing care of me I said I was in a hurry and they grab something half off The rack in the color I asked for and got me out of there in my budget home to see my little girl. I am going to Oman and realized my formal dresses would not be conservative enough for the culture. I spoke with Linda who suggested rather than my purchasing 2 new formals, that instead, I bring my dresses and they would try to create wraps for me that would work. Once I got there, Robert and Linda were so amazing. Robert has an incredible eye for fashion and took different materials and created wraps that were not only beautiful, but also functional for my trip. Maggie, his tailor, was more than willing to run with Robert's vision and my time constraint. I am leaving for Oman in two days. She said she will have my wraps ready within the day. They were unbelievably helpful. While I was there, Robert kept bringing me additional items that he thought would enhance my wardrobe. After growing (sideways) out of my nice dresses, I needed a frock to attend a wedding, and I'm glad I made it in here! I had actually planned to shop my way down Ventura Blvd, but this was my first stop and I left with a lovely, chic dress that the wonderful Linda helped me find in my price range that I will treasure forever. The whole ring-the-bell deal to enter was a little confusing, and I almost walked away without going in, thinking that it must be too fancy-- i.e. pricey-- for me. True, they did have an IMPRESSIVE array that ranged all the way to those that I would never be able to afford (nor have anywhere to wear.) But I left in love with my dress for a little over $300 much happier and much more stylish than if I had gone to the mall like the Lyft lady suggested. Thank you Linda and Robert!
