I have never stepped foot IN the boutique but kudos for their fabulous windows. If you miss NYC Saks and Neiman Marcus at holiday time, this tiny Valley atelier is as close as you're going to get on the best - I mean, WEST coast. The Schläppis have more personality than most humans I know and I want an invite to their party! (see photo) Each new scenario is a fun surprise, the pandemic panic was BRILLIANT. We don't have Met Gala but we do have Robert Ellis. Someday I WILL have an occasion to shop there. read more

This was mine and my daughter's first visit to this iconic Valley boutique for special occasion clothes & we were not disappointed. The time and attention my daughter and I got was top notch. Although their available choices didn't fit either of our needs in terms of the style we each had in mind, we loved most of what we tried. They are extremely accommodating in terms of ordering your preferred color & can have any alterations needed. Highly recommend this charming place to shop. read more

What a fabulous place to shop. I am not a shopper, but needed a dress for my son's wedding and a black tie wedding. I loved working with Robert and his assistant. Found both dresses and even bought a third dress. He is honest and sincere and so much fun to work with. Want to invite him for dinner. Highly, highly recommend! read more

I had a fabulous experience shopping at Robert's boutique! I was surprised when I was actually greeted by the owner and designer. I was first approached by his welcoming assistant who let us in the beautiful store. It felt like a special experience as soon as we walked in. I came here with a purpose and that was to find my mom the perfect formal dress to wear to a black tie wedding. She had been searching for months and was on the verge of giving up until I brought her here. Robert took such great care of her and really tried to figure out exactly what she was looking for. She is very picky but he ended up pulling several gorgeous gowns for her to try on. What I loved though too is that many of the designs could be customized depending on what she needed. He ended up having her try on a dress that she was really hesitant about and guess what...she loved it! It was the first and only dress she tried on! Let me tell you that this gown was drop dead gorgeous and I have never seen my mom look so happy trying something on. She was beaming. I loved how supportive he was through the whole process as well. He helped create a full outfit and she ended up getting a beautiful beaded clutch to go with it. She even ended up getting several additional pieces of clothing including this amazing black reversible faux fur jacket (which I may go back and buy for myself :). The prices are not cheap, but I felt that the clothes definitely matched the price. Truly lux unique pieces. I cannot wait to come back and he now has two customers for life. Thank you!!! (Also the store pup Chester is so sweet!) read more

As a plus size woman, I had been looking for months for a dress for my daughter's black tie wedding. Friends told me to go to Robert Ellis. Robert and his assistant were WONDERFUL to work with and even though they do not carry many plus size dresses, Robert had me try one on that I normally wouldn't have and it was perfect. He is honest in his critique and has an excellent eye as to what looks great on you. And Chester is pretty darn cute too! read more

The BEST woman's clothing store and the only place to buy exceptionally stylish and chic fashion. At Robert Ellis, you will find unique and high quality clothing for any occasion or just hanging around. Robert is warm and helpful. Most importantly, he is honest. When something looks bad on you, he tells you. When something looks great, he tells you. He also has a fabulous selection of accessories and jewelry to compliment any outfit. This is my go to place. It should be yours too. Ten stars! read more

Robert Ellis Boutique - 2019 Grammy Awards - Women's Clothing Near Me - Studio City, California

I have had Robert Ellis dress me for several events. His taste is impeccable, his guidance never fails, his collections are amazing and for what you get, I'd say he is pretty reasonable. Their customer service skills are outstanding. I love going to this place. Maggie has altered many items for me. She is the queen of alteration. Their accessories are great. If you are like me and don't know what you are doing, Robert or Linda will help you put together the most perfect ensemble. I also love how involved they are with St. Jude's. This place gives back to the community. Kudos. read more

I was surprised to discover the kind of stylist that movie stars utilize in this Studio City boutique. The saleswoman/stylist Ellen is very well-versed in what is required for every type of event, and she is cognizant of budget & body type as well. Ellen is a quick-study and won't show you anything that doesn't fit your pocketbook or personality. This place is a treasure for twenty-somethings to seventy-somethings. read more

Robert and Ellen helped my mom when she visited Robert Zella's for the first time. They were so nice and patient. There were so many options & we can't wait to go back! Thank you Robert Ellis for helping my mom find her dream dress! read more

I was recommended to this store and stopped by to look for a dress for my step-son's upcoming wedding. I had not planned on shopping that day but saw the store when I parked for an appointment nearby. I advised the clerk of my needs and she proceeded to insult me in several ways. She may not have meant it --- but in thinking about the experience, I will not shop here. Walking toward the dresses, I said that I am a size 14 --- she replied, "I can see that"; then asked if I wore sleeveless dresses and when I said I preferred something with a cap sleeve, she replied something like "I figured that". Then, not knowing my budget, when I looked at one of the frocks, she said that it was too expensive for me --- how did she know that $2,000 for a dress was more than I planned to spend? So, instead of going back to this store when I had time to shop, I went to Nordstrom's, had a delightful saleslady and bought a beautiful expensive dress! Beware of snooty Ellen at Robert Ellis --- zero stars. read more

Wonderful Store. Lots of gorgeous pieces at various price points to fit many different budgets. I recommend doing what I did and tell them your budget when you walk in so they can show you items in your price range. The customer service was wonderful and I walked out of there with a gorgeous red dress for my event this Saturday. Definitely going back as they had some beautiful sundresses, jewelry, and blue jeans for a reasonable price!!! If you need a dress for an event, this is definitely the place. read more

I can't say enough good things about this remarkable boutique! I recently sent a client there. She needed a dress for her son's wedding. She'd been everywhere and couldn't find what she was looking for. It was the last minute. After trying on everything Robert Ellis had to offer, still nothing worked. But this is just the sort of challenge Robert thrives on. In the middle of the night he got an idea. First thing in the morning he called a vendor. Within 48 hours my client had the PERFECT custom-made dress for the wedding! Talk about customer service! Where else would something like this happen these days?! read more

I took my mother in law to Robert Ellis this afternoon and what a time we had!! Linda and Robert were amazing! My mother in law had a double mastectomy and some other ailments which affects the clothes she's comfortable wearing. Linda was so patient and kind and went out of her way to make my MIL feel comfortable. Even Magda, their seamstress, was in on the fitting and came up with ideas that will make the clothes look and feel better. I can't say enough about how wonderful this store is!! The major department stores could take a lesson from them!! read more

Beautiful, timeless clothing. Robert and his team truly care and go out of their way to take care of you.

A amazing store, great personal attention and unique items! Robert is a class act!

This store is a true find for discerning shoppers. It's in studio city which I would never have expected. I recently checked it out because I was in desperate search of a dress for my daughter's graduation, and for a wedding in the Colorado mountains. There was a great selection, all very high end, and there was no pressure about trying on tons of things before making any decisions. Actually Robert the owner encouraged me to try everything, and was really helpful in showing me things that would work for me. I had a great time. He and his assistants were fun to be with and made me feel great. I can't wait to go back. They carry sportswear too :-) read more

Needed a dress for a formal wedding and this store was recommended by several of my clients. First of all I was overwhelmed by the selection of beautiful dresses, but Robert personally made it his mission to find me the perfect dress!!! He had such an eye for colour and style. I felt like a princess in his store. I tried on a few other dresses just in case I had another formal event to go to and ended up with 2 that I just adore! And the accessories there are fantastic too. Friendly staff, upscale but not stuffy. Thank you Robert for having such a wonderful place right in my neighborhood! read more

I am going to Oman and realized my formal dresses would not be conservative enough for the culture. I spoke with Linda who suggested rather than my purchasing 2 new formals, that instead, I bring my dresses and they would try to create wraps for me that would work. Once I got there, Robert and Linda were so amazing. Robert has an incredible eye for fashion and took different materials and created wraps that were not only beautiful, but also functional for my trip. Maggie, his tailor, was more than willing to run with Robert's vision and my time constraint. I am leaving for Oman in two days. She said she will have my wraps ready within the day. They were unbelievably helpful. While I was there, Robert kept bringing me additional items that he thought would enhance my wardrobe. I purchased a lovely bag, a broach, two jackets, and a pair of pants. I will definitely be a return customer. They also have great coffee, Vanilla Nut. Cheri read more

The only reason I can't give this place five stars is that they are a little pricey. But I called ahead and I needed a nice dress fast that would work for an awards event and also a wedding that I had coming up. I find it difficult to get things in my size because I'm curvy busty but short. They assured me that they would make me feel comfortable and help when I called to see if they carried my size. The ladies took amazing care of me I said I was in a hurry and they grab something half off The rack in the color I asked for and got me out of there in my budget home to see my little girl. Thank you ladies for being so kind and understanding. Their prices are worth it! read more

After growing (sideways) out of my nice dresses, I needed a frock to attend a wedding, and I'm glad I made it in here! I had actually planned to shop my way down Ventura Blvd, but this was my first stop and I left with a lovely, chic dress that the wonderful Linda helped me find in my price range that I will treasure forever. The whole ring-the-bell deal to enter was a little confusing, and I almost walked away without going in, thinking that it must be too fancy-- i.e. pricey-- for me. True, they did have an IMPRESSIVE array that ranged all the way to those that I would never be able to afford (nor have anywhere to wear.) But I left in love with my dress for a little over $300 much happier and much more stylish than if I had gone to the mall like the Lyft lady suggested. Thank you Linda and Robert! I'll be back as occasion arises! read more

Robert and the wonderful women who work here truly care about their customers. They have taken care of me for two of my children's weddings. In all my life I have never gotten such over-the-top compliments . I hate to shop and never give it enough time. But they put up with me and make it work. They can also be quite firm when I start to go down the wrong path, which I need!. I'll be back for the next event. No more Nordi's or Bloomie's for special events!! read more

I love this store! First of all the owner Robert is the most amazing person with the best taste and style. Trust me!! The boutique is beautiful and the clothes are fabulous. I have purchased several cocktail dresses there for special events and I always get asked where I got my dress at each event. I always find something to buy when I go. Everything is so great you can't walk out the door without buying something. This is such a special place with beautiful classic one of a kind pieces. When my mother comes to town each year she always wants me to take her shopping there. The customer service is top notch and the best I have ever had in a store.. Both Robert and Linda treat each customer like a dear friend. They are so kind and they care about making sure you have an excellent shopping experience. Plus they know how to style a lady perfectly. They go over and beyond to make you feel special. Being in retail myself I appreciate having that one on one personal attention you get at Robert Ellis. I highly recommend you go and check out this boutique. You will love Robert and Linda. read more
