I have so much to say about working with Carmen!! First off, to every bride. TRUST YOUR INSTINCT…read more I am not an easy person when it comes to style or fashion. I have a very clear idea of what I want. I could care less what is on trend. When I first came into the shop (1 month after being engaged), it was by complete coincidence. I called 15 minutes after seeing that it was so nearby to an appointment that I was already at. Thank God for this little taste of fate. Upon meeting both Samantha and her mother Carmen I didn't know what to think. I was open to the idea of dress style, but I knew I wanted separates. I would later find out how rare being shown anything "separate" truly was. After taking a quick browse around and being led quickly to look at Julie Vino, I decided I would try the top on, but I asked if there was something they could show me that was different, something eccentric maybe for the bottom? Carmen immediately pulled a dramatic, really cool high to low organza skirt off the rack and suggested I mix and match. I described in detail how I pictured my hair, the shoes and what I wanted the overall "look" to be- a female superhero. Julie Vino was decidedly too "revealing" for my taste but the idea of the wonderwoman-like top combined with a super structured skirt stayed with me. I remember leaving the shop and Carmen warning me if I was interested I had to give her at least 3 months for the order. Many many, many many many months passed. I was stubborn. I only went to one other shop to try on dresses and scoured the internet instead. (not including Sax bridal in LA who told me they had nothing for me because my tastes were - direct quote - "too avant-guard") I struck up a relationship with a designer in the Ukraine who worked with me for over a year to create a look that I loved. Unfortunately, when it arrived the pieces did fit properly or even go together. My mother was beside herself. Threatening and actually purchasing a back-up dress of her choice as a last resort, I let her do as she pleased while I stuck to my guns. It was scary. I had zero backup and we were less than a month and a half from the Thailand destination wedding date! I thought about Carmen and how she just "got me." I remembered that while I was in the shop the first time after describing what I was after she said if I went for it, I would be one of her favorite most daring brides she ever dressed. I called and sent an email requesting an immediate appointment and to my surprise after sending a quick photo via text Carmen agreed to see me. I loved the top I had, however the workmanship and fit left a lot to be desired... I was scared about how I was supposed to find a bottom that in any-way matched the top. Luckily for me (though I'm sure Carmen is still swearing under her breath about it) the Ukrainian designer had made a veil which I had hoped to use more as a photo prop with the elephant we were going to take pictures with at the wedding. This veil had the same elegant lace edging that was used on my top (IT WAS GLUED DOWN AND SEWN TO CARMEN'S HORROR) and Carmen suggested creating a custom short skirt with an overlay of the lace on the edges to tie the pieces together. Then the overskirt piece that I loved when I first came in would be the finishing wow factor. I had no other options. No plan B. It was a difficult thing to walk in ALONE and make the decision to sign an agreement that held everyone harmless, with no take-backs! But a little voice inside my gut told me to trust and have faith that this woman knows what she's talking about. Honestly, I had not read previous reviews. I had not visited their shop website, I did very little investigation. Instead, I happened to be at the right place at the right time and find the 100% RIGHT WOMAN TO COME TO MY RESCUE. No words can describe my gratitude. Not only did she manage to create a short skirt (that did not ride up - and I danced my ass off) from scratch and know the exact shades of white to use for just the right contrast, but the overskirt was cut and primped (horse-hair removed just for me because I didn't love the way it stood up) No detail was left untouched. The top was entirely "groomed" - new darts added, lace additions to coverup unsightly lines in the mesh and silver under-layer, the zipper was redone entirely in nude so as not to show. It was a complete overhaul and I don't know what I would have done without this visionary couture expert on my side!!! From one artist to another Carmen - THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART thank you for helping me take my dreams and make them a reality, for believing in what I wanted, and not compromising when my parents (via facetime) were not on board. I have never seen them both in happier shock at the outcome!! You are my angel and my bridal savior. I would recommend this establishment with great pride to anyone looking for help making their bridal or high-fashion vision come to fruition!

They are…read moreexcellent at keeping their online shop updated for what they have in-store with pictures and sizes of the gowns. Their selection of designers is truly amazing. I can't speak to their online portion of the business, with the shipping and try-on-at-home or the selling process, but I can absolutely recommend that if you're looking to buy a wedding dress in SoCal, it's worth it to visit this place in person! It was just me and my mom (someone whose opinion I value but who also trusts that I can make my own decisions), but I think they allow up to four people to come with you. (Choose wisely lol). They also have great tips on their site, and the ones I felt were super helpful were 1- go to a regular bridal salon first to get a feel for the things you like and don't like, 2- size up one or two sizes from what your street clothes normally are, 3- preview their selection online and come prepared if there's something you specifically want to try on. They also send you a questionnaire when you book the appointment asking how you want to feel in your wedding dress on the day of -- which was a really useful question to answer, just for myself lol but I'm sure it helps them pick out some options that might align! Desiree was amazing!! She immediately understood my vision. She was an incredible resource for all of my nerdy material questions, and my questions about the consignment process, what would and wouldn't be possible in alterations, travel tips for transporting the dress, storing the dress, post-ceremony cleaning, etc. It's also bananas how much she knew about the history of some of my dress picks re: the original bride's alterations, off the top of her head! (Or maybe it's written down in their system haha that's probably more likely, but if it was from memory, freakin' kudos!). Apparently, Desiree had worked at the designer of one of my top pick dresses so she also had the lowdown of the business from that perspective as well! I also didn't feel pressured at all, which was so important for me--not just for wedding dress shopping but for all of the choices we've been making for the wedding. It's a small thing, but something I greatly appreciated. The absolute most useful advice Desiree had was about the alterations process and even pricing. She made the caveat that different people would have a range of prices, but for what I was looking for, she would be shocked if I had to pay over X amount. I went to five different alteration places to get quotes, and three of them quoted me pretty much the exact number Desiree had suggested, and two of them tried to upsell me on things I didn't need and charge me three times as much! Obviously, I went with one of the seamstresses that quoted me that starting price, and I was so grateful that Desiree knew her stuff because my people-pleaser self might have just accepted the pricier alterations place without questioning it. I found the gown of my dreams at Loved Twice Bridal, from my top pick designer (Galia Lahav!) at significantly off the retail/custom order price. I received excellent service from an extremely knowledgeable resource. And I made a choice that aligned with my sustainable values. I'm so, so happy with how it all worked out! I just picked it up after alterations (Connie Tao Designs in Pasadena) and I cannot wait to wear this dress on my wedding day! Obviously, my choice of husband is the best choice I've made for my wedding haha, but choosing the dress I did, from this shop - it was a pretty darn good choice for me. Best of luck in your search!!

Service 2/5 Selection 3/5…read more Honestly I had a very disappointing experience on my birthday here. Upon arrival, the woman at the front desk (Desiree) didn't greet us despite us being the only party to enter. It wasn't until I introduced my name that she then introduced herself. She also made it a point to say "you brought the 'whhhole crew' with you today. Which I was confused about because I had 4 guests which was within the allowed guest count. It was a very uncomfortable encounter. Nonetheless, I brushed it off as I was excited to try on wedding gowns for my November 2025 event. While selecting dresses, I asked Desiree if she could please add one of the gowns to the rack for me to try on. Her response was "but is it actually in your budget?" Woah--did she just Pretty Woman me? When I asked if that was a requirement to try on dresses, she responded no, but since it's a consignment shop they have to be mindful of how many times a dress is worn and they want guests to be intentional about selections. Okay--understandable but set that expectation from the beginning or it sounds extremely judgmental without context. The selection was quite limited as other people mentioned. That said I found a dress with potential and put it on hold. Ultimately I changed my mind about the purchase because I couldn't justify supporting a shop with that type of customer service. I thankfully ended up finding my dream dress elsewhere and ironically it was well over my original budget. But when I tried it on and loved it--I figured it's worth the price. From the glowing reviews I truly hope I'm an anomaly, but I had to share my experience as I hope this behavior from staff can be improved in the future. For many of us, this experience is supposed to be exciting and when we are paying for the experience to try on dresses I think at minimum staff should try to *at least* fake politeness for the one hour we have booked.
