The food here is nothing short of amazing, and Robert Earl and his family are even better than that! So we went here twice over the weekend and it was amazing! The first time we got the pulled pork, ribs, and BBQ Chicken it was all cooked very good and the sauce is delicious its not swimming in sauce to try and mask anything its the right amount to add that extra flavor, the sides of bbq beans, mac n cheese, and potato salad were the BEST. I am very picky with potato salad and never buy the store brand this one was just like my moms and loved it! The next day we learned not to order soooo much food and just stuck with pulled pork sandwiches with potato salad and we were full! My mom also ordered greens and they were delicious as well... we will defiantly be going back soon and cant wait to try the peach cobbler it smelled so good. read more

Went by yesterday with the Family for the first time. Everything was GREAT! There was 6 of us, and we ordered a lot of food. Service was friendly, and the food arrived quickly. The Brisket was awesome! Just the right amount of smokey goodness without being overbearing. Sauce was perfect. Ribs were moist and came off clean. We had all the sides, and they were all fresh and well flavored. The owner/pit master made it a point to come out and check on all the guests which was a plus. All in all, this was a great experience, and we will be back. We even had leftovers to take home, which we are eating now:) read more

Really great brisket and ribs - perfectly tender and smokey. The sauce is a bit sweet, not quite as good as bludso's, but still good enough. Where Robert Earl's really fell short was the rib tips. What we received was dried out and chewy, which I would have thought was impossible given the fat content of rib tips. So while the ribs and brisket were an A+, the ribs were a straight F. Sides were good, but nothing to write home about. Mac and Cheese was bland, greens were over salted, and potato salad was standard. Will be coming back - hopefully rib tip debacle was a one time thing. read more

It's difficult to find real BBQ (where they actually cook the meat on wood, etc.) in the Southern California area. I've had BBQ in Texas and the South so nothing here compares favorably except perhaps Bludsoe's in Compton and now Robert Earl's BBQ right in my hometown! Don't waste your time with popular local establishments such as Naples Rib Co. or Johnny Rebs or any of the other numerous chains that make the claim to be legit BBQ. This is real wood smoked succulent juicy BBQ like what you might find in Texas or the south. The brisket is moist and very tender, the ribs are meaty and expertly prepared. This isn't the type of place that just slathers everything in sauce to hide the meat. I asked for my sauce on the side and enjoyed the meat without the sauce. The meat is really about as good as it gets for BBQ but what I think really sets this place apart from other quality BBQ establishments is their sides and desert. The Mac and Cheese here isn't some filler/throwaway afterthought. It's difficult to describe but the flavor is delicate and complex and definitely delicious. The beans are the same way. The biggest surprise however is the banana pudding desert which might be the best thing on the menu. I don't normally prefer banana deserts but this desert is ridiculous. It's unique, I've never had anything quite like it. I'm not sure it's fair to call it pudding but it is fair to call it great. read more

I ordered off the lunch menu and was disappointed. I had the two meat combo, brisket and rib tips. My brisket was chopped into little pieces, which made me feel like I was getting the meat that was left over from the pan. The Mac n cheese was good but the size u get is disappointing. The cup was the equivalent to the cup you get to put jalapeños in at a Mexican food restaurant. My husband had the banana pudding, he said it was good, but there was no bananas in it. For $6.00 the size is a let down. The guy that took my order was friendly and it took 15 mins for a walk in order. read more
