We took our baby boy there and he came back happy and hyper and just his usual self. We had taken him elsewhere 3 days prior as it was his first time away from us and we wanted to make sure he would be well taken care of and he came back very smelly and very groggy, he wasn't excited to see us and was very quiet so I didn't get a good vibe from the place. We tried Rob Cary as it is walking distance from our home and we loved it. We were able to tour the facility and everyone seems so friendly and personable. Most importantly, our baby was his usual loud and hyper self when we got him and full of energy. We will be going back for sure. Take great care of my golden retriever and lab mix when we are out of town. The lab mix is a handful and borderline neurotic, but they are able to bathe her and cut her nails. The golden had puppy training there with Keith, and I learned a lot, although I am an experienced dog owner. One thing I would recommend is that they offer a tour of the kennels. I always add bathing after a boarding, so I'm never disappointed to see them, but I often wonder what their cleanliness level is during the stay. read more

NEGLECTFUL AND CUT CORNERDS The groomers at this place have extremely LIMITED knowledge of different breeds. So before I married my husband he brought his dog here. During the first year of our marriage in Texas in 2020 I pointed out to my husband they were NOT doing a thorough job for the price of $110 for our Briard. Such as nails and hair around his rear. After moving back to CA January of 2021 I started taking Briggs to MY groomer I had before we married which is "best in show" in Clovis CA. Charlotte my groomer (who is a professional dog groomer for Purina and other dog shows" for over 20 years plus lost of veterinary experience) spent 6 hours on just his undercoat alone because Rob Cary Resort had not been getting the undercoat for almost the entire year of 2020. They only did top layer brushing. Secondly his dew claws has not been cut in over 6 months and has grown to where they were curled up and into where the nail starts to grow. Thirdly they didn't clean up or trim the hair around his anus this is standard grooming AND they didn't express his anal glands, all part of standard grooming. Why would we bring our Briard in for you to leave dried up poop on him???? I pointed out the lack of this grooming to my husband while we still lived in Texas. If Facebook allowed posting of videos in reviews you'd see 3 standard pillows worth of undercoat she brushed out in a video plus how bad his ears are!!! LASTLY my groomer noted that our Briards ears have not been cleaning on almost a year.....tons of hair clogging up his ears reaching far into the ear canal along with nasty yeast AND puss because it has been so long since they were treated.....Rob Cary Resort groomed him 3 months before today March 11 2021 back in December as well as almost every month of 2020, but despite us bringing him in many times in 2020 the level of this chronic ear buildup and puss is from a year of it being neglected!!!!! Shame on you Rob Cary Resort!!!! We paid you full price very time we brought Briggs in for the year 2020 and you neglected his ears the ENTIRE time along with his undercoat 3/4 the time, Dew claws and hair around the anus! Thank God my groomer also has veterinary experience and had the proper medication on hand for his ears to clean up this puss infection from your neglect of proper grooming that we paid for! If you were so knowledgeable about different breeds then you would know It's an ABSOLUTE MUST that Briards need the hair in their ears trimmed and cleaned EVERY TIME because it how the breed is!! Instead of hiring people with knowledge of various breeds or at least teaching your groomers about breeds you have mediocre staff! We will never be returning to your resort again!!! Second picture-his war super wet with puss and yeast from this resort NOT cleaning them every time we brought him in during 2020. NOTE this is from a year of not cleaning his ears and not because he went 3 months before I took him to my California groomer. Third picture-all this hair is from his NECK ONLY! There was just as much undercoat hair for each leg and his underbelly so take this amount times about 6 and that's how much undercoat he has knotted up because this resort only brushed his top layer. read more

I have never been so disgusted by a business. My dog stayed there and we had issues with grooming & the lack of information on the report card. There was no help from manager Lucas. I left a google review which in his response, he lied about my dog. Lucas said I told him my dog has bit my husband & others before. This is a blatant lie. My dog is a an anxious rescue chihuahua who doesn't love being touched but he's has NEVER BIT anyone prior to this stay. They called me mid stay saying my dog TRIED to bite them, saying he's not comfortable, and was upset with them & asked permission to give my dog CBD treats which I allowed. At pick up they never said anything about an actual bite. The person handing him off said he'll do better in the next visit or two & "see you next time". When I called Lucas regarding the blatant lie in the response, he said my dog bit through cat gloves and left bruises. This was NEVER communicated to me at any point. I called him out on the fact that the review response said he TRIED biting - he said he was trying to keep the response "light hearted". He told me that they communicated to me that my dog bit so hard he left bruises. Had this actually been communicated to me, I would've had my friend pick up my dog IMMEDIATELY because if my dog is biting this hard that means they are pushing way beyond his boundaries and are not respecting my dog. Lucas ended the response saying my dog is not welcomed there anymore due to his behavior - yet this was never communicated to me at pick up and actually was left with a "see you next time". Lucas is a complete liar and I am beyond shocked by his pathetic excuse to try and cover up the issues. I know my dog isn't super joyous around others like typical dogs but he has never even attempted to bite anyone prior to this stay.If a dog is biting as hard as Lucas claimed my Chihuahua did, there is serious problems with the way they treat the dogs. I regret leaving my dog in their care & I would never recommend this place to anyone due to the lack of communication and the blame game they play. I had to board my dog for the first time after having other plans for people to watch him while I went on vacation. I was nervous about taking him due to him being wary of people and other dogs. And he was scared at first. But I got daily updates on how he was doing and when I picked him up they said he did good. Even though it was hard to spend the money to do this but I believe it was best for him to help him get used to other people. All in all it was a great experience. We left our two dogs here over our Christmas travels. They were speedy, approachable, and totally understanding of our concern for them (as it was their first times staying in pet boarding). They were very intensive of their needs and daily routines, they even offered CBD treats to one of our dogs who has high anxiety . The basic boarding that we got had an inside and outside grass cooridor. As the inside is temp controled. They also emailed us daily doggie updates which we found very heartfelt and reassuring. Signed up my fur baby for her class. RC came recommended by several people I know. Gary was our instructor. He's very friendly and will answer any and all questions. He has definitely helped us a lot. Gary has heard it all, I call him the dog whisperer. ( and yes my fur baby goes after laundry items... embarrassing to admit that in class) lol If you need to sign your fur baby up for a class, go see them and hopefully you'll get lucky and Gary will be your teacher. Another note... check out the store. Each week before class started I had to buy my fur baby goodies... They have a huge variety from pig ears, moo tubes and so much more. read more

my dog was carried to covered in feces and urine! I complain to the manager numerous times, and got no response. I wrote to the manager and to the owner and got no response. My dog passed away a month later. I will never never never recommend this place, even if they get all new staff, I would not recommend this place. There's no excuse for the owner, not contacting me. Rob Cary is a great place! I have been taking my 3 year old Border Collie to Rob Cary from day one! From basic obedience with Gary, to agility work on the field with Jill, they have been awesome! Jill has been an absolutely wonderful agility instructor! She's knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated! She even made training videos for her classes when Covid kept us from training together! KAYLA IS AMAZING! REMEMBER THIS NAME SHE IS GREAT!! Only groomer I will use for my Afghan Hound Bruno!!! She is sweet and really takes the time to listen to what you want. You can really tell she is a dog person.. I consider her Brunos second mum as he loves going in to see her!! You can see his face light up as soon as we pull into the parking lot, he knows!! He comes home happy as ever! She is so gentle and kind! I highly recommend Kayla for grooming!!! We have gone to puppy classes as well, Monica is awesome! So smart and well educated in training! She remembers all her puppies names which is a talent in it of its self with how many she must see! Her dogs are so well behaved and she really takes the time to instruct each owner through the training process with such clarity. She also changes the training to fit each dog's needs which ive never seen a trainer do! I think its great!! She has really helped us turn around our training and we can't wait for our next class! I'am horribly late with this review but it is greatly needed! I had to evacuate to San Antonio due to Hurricane Harvey, and this shelter stepped up tremendously in taking care of my 4 cat that needed their facility while I was in a hotel that didn't allow more than 2 pets at a time. The staff was very attentive to all my cats and would update me on their mental conditions (2 of my cats are kind of anti-social but they warmed up to their care takers in a day which was really amazing!) While I was there, they were also using their facility to take in donations for Harvey victims! I was so happy to have found this place and would highly recommend them =) read more

I was really disappointed in this "pet resort". My parents were looking for a boarding facility to take their two dogs. I called before we visited to let them know we were interested and to describe their dogs. One is 14 years old and we wanted to make sure they would accept an older dog before we visited. The woman I spoke to and the person I e-mailed with explained there was no issue with the dog's age and we could bring them in. They advised us to come in for a tour to check out the facility. When we got there, the receptionist was really friendly. We explained to her how I'd been in contact with two different people at the facility and that we were interested in boarding my parents dogs. When we told her that the dog was 14 years old, she said they would not accept him because of age. I told her we wouldn't have wasted our time going there if we had known and that we were in contact with two other individuals at Rob Cary. Eventually she told us that we could bring him in but we would have to bring him in for doggy day care a few times to make sure he's accepting of the facility and the people. Which was understandable. We asked for a tour and the receptionist said that all of the staff was too busy to give us a tour at that time. Again, we explained we wouldn't have come and wasted our time if we didn't feel we could've gotten a tour. She called someone, about ten minutes later someone came and gave us a tour. Now - the facility is nice. We checked out the "extra-care" area for the older/special needs dogs. Then we went into the runs area. Wow, oh, wow. It was absolutely filthy. I looked into some of the dogs runs and there was so much poop, it was disgusting. It was also 5PM and all of the lights were off in both the regular runs and the ones with the TV's. It was super weird that all the lights were off, because there's no skylights or extra lights for the dogs. After we got the tour, the receptionist gave us some paperwork and told us her life story. In which she told me that she'd only been working there since November 2012. I was surprised she was basically making the decisions about boarding an older pet. Overall, our pre-boarding experience was awful. There should be RULES that are set in stone and not just from one-person to another. Also, they shouldn't claim they will give anyone a tour during their regular business hours. It's weird that they tried to turn us away when we arrived. I wouldn't advise using this boarding facility and I won't ever try to again. read more

I've used Rob Cary's kennel services and obedience classes. I'm not super impressed with either. I enrolled my dog in obedience classes when she was 3 years old because she began having behavioral issues. They assured me that she needed to be in a beginner obedience class because she had never been in a formal class despite the fact that I assured them she knew basic commands, "sit, stay, walk on a leash." So, we wasted $110 and 6 weeks worth of classes to teach my dog what she already knew and were left with the same issues we had before the class. It was pretty frustrating. During this time, I also used the kennel services at Rob Cary. The prices here a bit higher than average but they promise lots of extras like play-time and special treat time and the like. Overall, I was very happy with this aspect of my business here. My dog always came home happy and well-fed and basically balanced. No issues with that. But, I'm still a bit grumpy on that wasted $110 and she still barks like a mad woman at the slightest knock at my door, which she also doesn't mind running out of if left unguarded. So, if you choose Rob Cary for obedience lessons for your pet, put your foot down and make sure you get placed in the correct level course! read more

This place is terrible, my dogs are completely stressed out from staying here this past week! The guy at the front desk with long black hair and glasses (Lucas) is a prick who had attitude and was rude before I even saw my outrageous bill and became agitated myself. He even called Caryl right in front of me sounding condescending towards me trying to explain why my dogs couldn't have been boarded together like we asked my bill was way more then expected and if I wasn't bound my a trip we had to go same day definitely would have picked somewhere else to take my beloved pets, they informed us as we dropped them off that that dog 1 is in heat and that we couldn't board are larger dog 2 ( who is fixed) with her as it is policy! My two dogs live together and have for the past 2-3 years! They would have been better off with their stress levels and comfort to have stayed together! And this policy Which it isn't listed on their website or anywhere as a policy. So I completely feel ripped off as well as feel my dogs had a horrible time there. I feel like they use shady tactics to get more money out of costumers! There are way more nice places to take your pets. Also they wouldn't let my mother tour the areas were our dogs were to be staying so we don't even know how bad the conditions are that they had to stay in. They told my mother that they don't do tours same day as drop off! Ridiculous! Don't recommend at all!! Caryl you are a terrible business owner and should be ashamed of yourself. And I also expect to see some thought out response of how we are terrible people ourselves blah blah I see how you respond to other critics of your business. read more

I was disappointed with the services at Rob Cary Pet Resort. I took my 2 cats in to be boarded in June 2021 for 4 days and 3 nights. Upon picking them up, they had no bedding in their cage, the hide-a-way house and blanket I had provided were not in the cage but finally located in a trash bag and they reeked of urine as thought they had been sitting in the bag since day 1. I understand the facility does not do laundry but am saddened my poor cats were without any comforts for what smelled like 2 weeks. The cardboard scratcher I provided was in the cage but was soaked with urine as well. Upon getting the cats home I had to bathe them both, as they smelled of urine and felt grimy and dirty. This resulted in multiple scratches and a torn shirt for me as well as obvious upset for the cats. The poor cats were out of sorts for several days afterward. I called and spoke with a manager and she had every excuse to explain away the poor boarding conditions and was quite rude to me. I definitely did not get my money's worth and will not be using Rob Cary again. This is a shame since I had boarded dogs with them in the past, some years back, and they had done a great job. I don't know what happened to the quality care at Rob Cary. read more

We've boarded our dog here a few times and while the front desk Has never been friendly, they were not considered rude either. Ive over looked their poor customer service skills at my dog seemed ok at pickup. On Tuesday June 1, we went to pick our girl up and the lady at the front desk was very very rude. I could Hear her being very rude to the people on front me me and her bad behavior continued when it was my turn. she should not be at the front desk assisting customers, perhaps she of better service doing clean up duties. I posted my review on their Facebook page and they removed it as well as my ability to post on their page. Apparently they do not want others to see the truth. I have also been told that they send out daily progress reports, in my experience those have been hit or miss. So if those mean anything to you, don't count on them. If you call to ask about your dog, they get super huffy like your bothering them and they do not return emails. We won't be returning here. Thanks to other customers complaints on Next door, I have been told of some great places to take our dog And learned of more bad experiences about RC. read more

My Chihuahua Chiquita loves Rob Cary Pet Resort. She gets her nails done there, and the staff is always very friendly. They tell her how cute and sweet she is, and she always gives them lots of kisses. The store carries a variety of toys, pet clothing, beds, and specialty food. The resort caters to all kinds of creatures, big and small, and they make sure they are all comfortable, whether they are getting their nails done, or staying for a longer visit. read more

The only people we entrust with our fur family members. Rob Cary associates watch over and take care of our dogs as if they are their own. Our two dogs are normally very shy and will not approach strangers. However, they run to greet staff members here with tails wagging --this says it all! BEWARE! Rob Cary is not so much a pet resort as a slum. The buildings are old and if you look over the fence you can see how run down the suites are. The front desk staff is friendly enough until they lose your dog's toys, of course. At that point expect a very unapologetic, "that's why we don't guarantee stuff, sometimes it gets lost in the shuffle, but we'll call you if it turns up." Not sure how much shuffling takes place; I was under the impression a dog gets taken to the room upon arrival and out to reception for pickup. I expected a courtesy report of "everything was fine blah blah blah", but I guess that is more of a PetSmart thing. The fact that the toys got lost makes me wonder if they gave my dog his medicine like I paid them to, or maybe that got lost as well. I am left with an impression of gross incompetence by this "resort" and do not recommend placing your family pets here. A silver lining to this experience: I went back to read yelp reviews to see how this place has a 4-star rating and discovered a section under all the posted reviews titled "reviews not currently recommended". Clicking on that reveals all the reviews that aren't factored into the rating because they don't yelp enough or whatever other logic yelp uses to weed them out (the disclaimer insists it isn't because the business advertises with yelp or anything). read more

I have been bringing my dog here for 2 years to get groomed. It is definitely NOT close to where I live, but it is worth the drive. They take such good care of Paxton. A complete groom is $26 and there cuts are top notch. The only complaint I can think of is that they used to cut his nails and leave the end jagged. However, I just had to ask them to start filing them and that solved the problem. They are adamant about making sure that all dogs are up to date on their vaccinations, which is reassuring. I usually drop my dog off around 9am and he is done by 12pm or 1pm. I have never boarded with them, but they will be my first choice if I ever have to do so. I also can not speak to their obedience classes as we have never had to participate in those either. They have quite a few types of food and treats and super cute pet outfits as well. It is definitely a great place to get your pet groomed at a very reasonable price. read more

Went in to check out thier selection of raw dog food. They did not have the best selection - Pollys on Pat Booker has better. But they had a sale so I bought some. Was looking to buy other things but many items were lacking prices :/ frustrating! The clerk did say she could look up the prices but really? How much for this? Waiting... How much for this?
