Last Friday at around 3PM, I was on a work call with my dog on my lap when I suddenly saw a flea walking in his head! I immediately went bananas, because 1- I had just been at the vet a few days ago and they promised to give him his flea medication (which they didn't), and 2- It was 3PM on a Friday! Which dog grooming business was going to accept my dog so last minute?! I obviously went into Yelp and found Wash Shake Wag. I gave them a call, and they quickly said yes to me request of a flea bath for my dog. When I arrived to their location, the staff was super friendly and even allow me to put Francisco (my dog) in the dog crate so he would feel more comfortable. I was extremely disappointed with Wash Shake Wag. I had an appointment on a Tuesday at 1:00 pm. I called ahead of time since I was running early to see if I could bring my dog in any earlier. They said that was fine. I arrived around 12:45 pm. The groomer told me it would be 2-3 hours max. So I went to run errands and back home. It was around 3:30 pm, and I still hadn't heard anything from them, so I decided I would drive all the way down there. Mind you, I chose this place that was around ~20-25 minutes away due to their reviews. Anyway, I showed up around 3:45 pm, and I asked about my dog's progress and when they estimated that she would be done. The groomers looked confused and had a hard time trying to decide what dog was mine. I had to physically step back where I saw my dog hadn't even been touched yet and had just spent over 3 hours in a crate. Never will I even attempt to give this place my business again. I would expect better communication if they were running that behind. I would have also appreciated to not have been offered an appointment. They are unorganized and over booked. And then had the nerve to call him jello, When his name is Gelato ! Maybe if my pup WASN'T LOCKED UP FOR 6 hours with several other pups around to make him anxious you could of actually groomed him but instead he was locked up with no food, water or taken out to go potty for 6 hours that's like being tortured it's animal abuse !! !! And then turn and put blame on my pup in which I mentioned he had trouble with anxiety, saying they couldn't groom him right because he was too much. He's a 5 month old cocker-spaniel who's very lovable and happy but yet he was the problem so you say.. I DONT think so.. if they couldn't be professional enough to groom him then why even say yes to the appointment to begin with. I think the original problem is that these ladies don't have the patience for these pups any more but they do it cause ITS a pay check if you can't treat these pups right then I suggest you find another career because your horrible at what you do or should I say don't do cause you definitely didn't groom my pup. Be VERY CAREFUL , don't go here! I took my baby for a bath and nail trim. Took them 8 hours to finally call me. After getting Baby home she didn't want to be touched, I thought weird. This week, CRAZY, I thought she had fleas, BUT they were scab's from m being brushed too hard by incompetent workers. The woman that owns it now is gruff and to hard to deal with. It looks like she has less fortunate people working there that don't understand how delicate a 10 pound dog is. I was horrified when I realized what I thought was fleas, were scabs from the last visit. I wondered why my baby smelled like tide Be careful, go somewhere else You can thank me later when all this comes out in the WASH Photos you see here are 1 year to 3 years old...... And of course whoever posts the dog smiling upon picking up..........I have your answer, the dog is soooooo happy to see you after u picked them up out of that torture chamber. I thought it was weird that my dog had patches of hair missing, but finally 9 Days later I realized instead of fleas he had scabs. Shame on you horrible business that uses dish soap or even comet cleanser to put In the animals. I want to see what goes on back there. I have been taking my senior dog to WSW and they are amazingly good ant what they do, and very patient with an older poodle with hearing and vision problems. I highly recommend them if you have a dog that needs to clean up for Christmas, they are reasonably priced and excellent at making your pooch look great. read more

Highly recommend this place to anyone with large dogs you don't want to wash at home or to anyone who has a small place and doesn't have a proper place to wash their small dog at home. I bring my Miniature Schnauzer (Elliot) in for the occasional bath when ever he begins to smell a little musky between hair clips. The place has a number of dog washing stations where they provide basins, shampoos, dryers, towels, brushes, furminators, etc. They even offer to help with the clipping of nails if you're not comfortable doing it. I've never had them cut my dogs hair... but I found their prices to be very reasonable tho'. read more

Well. Instead of just totally going off on this place when I picked up my papillon about 2 months ago, I figured I'd wait and let my feelings calm down. They haven't and we all know there are other things we need to be concerned about. I have used their self service for years and decided to use them for grooming, the staff was so friendly. I think they did a GREAT job many times over about 2 years but this last was the nail in the coffin. First of all, I was rather skeptic bc they aren't usually open on Mondays and the ladies that are usually there were not. They took my pup and told me 'we had notes'. a papillon cut is pretty standard. Well, they cut off all the 'feathers' or butterfly wings all around her face and didn't do a thing in her 'sanitary area'. The haircut was sloppy and uneven, tail and hind leg fur basically untouched. When I returned to get her I had a bit of a fit. The woman who accepted her when dropped off was flippant and now said 'there were not notes'. They didn't charge me, but I wouldn't have paid anyway. The feathers on her face have still not even begun to grow back. I have a feeling this place has changed ownership and I will not return or recommend to anyone. DO NOT GO THERE!!! read more

It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when your dog is injured here. Two dogs, two injuries on separate occasions. I've talked to neighbors who have had similar experiences. And to the person who keeps leaving compliments you're wrong. This is the correct place I'm reviewing. My dog was groomed with sharp metal brush after specifically saying to only use rubber or soft brushes. 2 days later I had to take my dog to the vet with a high fever and this is what we found!! Dropped off 6mo poodle mix for his first hair cut, probably had a good 5 inches of hair. Told them to keep him fluffy, but get rid of the excess puppy hair (he very clearly had a halo of super fine hair that made him look scraggly). Picked him up, he'd been shaved down to an eighth of an inch. Now, this would have been one thing if we had dropped him off matted, dirty, etc. but he had ZERO mats or knots and had received a bath less than a week prior. No explanation was given to my husband as to why they had cut him so short. In addition, a late pickup fee was charged because my husband was unable to get there within an hour of being called. We were not given an estimated time he would be done: how can we be expected to drop all of our plans and run to the groomer at their beck and call? We were charged over $60 for them to shave him down and trim his face (also not how we asked but I won't even get into that). Finally, two of the groomers at the site said that a "puppy clip" was not a real cut for poodles, but was something big companies like petco say. I've had poodles and mixes all my life, and you can bet that's a real thing, with very clear parameters and expectations--ask any of the groomers or breeders I have spoken to over the years. so I originally gave them 3 stars but I have to go back and correct myself because the few little things I could say negative are nothing compared to the good. My poodle has terrible eye stains and one girl worked on him for an extra hour patiently working on his face and moisturizing his skin to work out the stains she even had him wrapped in a warm blanket! if you take care of my dog like you would for my kid, you're getting 5 stars! I also had to leave town last minute and he was a mess! I really cannot say enough great things about this place! We left our Lilly with a relative over our Spring Break ski trip, only to pick her up completely infested with ticks! Our first stop was her vet's office, but even after that, she definitely needed some intense TLC on her coat and skin. I called Wash Shake Wag fully expecting them to be unable to take her as it was a Sunday afternoon I was pleasantly surprised when they said they could (after listening to me sob-I'm sure this sweet woman stayed late on a Sunday to take care of us)! When we arrived, my poor Lilly was stinky and shaking. They wrapped her in a towel and took her back immediately with gentle care. I left and when she was finished, they sent me a text with a photo and I was so relieved! I picked up a fresh, beautifully groomed Lilly-Bean and we have been going there ever since! I know that Lilly is in great hands here. She always comes out looking and smelling so fresh! I've even gotten my mother who lives out of town bringing her dog Luther with Lilly when she visits! This is a tricky review. My dog has never looked better and his cut is perfect. Only when I came in to pay I heard a groomer in the back yelling for a dog to shut up. Literally those were the words used. It made me very uncomfortable. When I spoke with two of the groomers both of them were fairly dismissive and rude. I don't want to assume anything of the establishment given these are hard times but looking at other reviews it sounds like this happens regularly. read more

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. I take my husky Toby here every few months, and although he hates it, I love it. I can take as long as I want at any one of the bathing stations and it only costs me $14 (according to weight)! Given that taking my dog to a groomers just to be bathed and dried costs easily $55+ this place is ideal for cost conscious pet owners. I easily spend an hour or so here cleaning my dog with the provided deshedding tools, clipping his toenails, washing/conditioning, and blowing out his undercoat. The staff is wonderful and Melissa the owner is always warm and courteous and willing to lend a hand if you need a little extra help. Not to be forgotten is the location. Nestled among quite little shops and eateries on N. Main the inside of the shop is pop modern with stylish twists (totally up my alley) this place has it all! read more

The self-serve doggy salon felt a little run-down and a little dirtier than I would prefer. At my station, shampoo and conditioner bottles weren't labeled so I wasn't sure what I was using. Some of the clean towels looked dirty (I know they were clean, but the appearance wasn't appealing). The wash station leaked water on my shoes. Even with all these issues, it is still a lot more convenient to wash my large dog here than at home and the staff is friendly and helpful and the prices for self-serve wash seem fair. read more

I took my miniature schnauzer here for a full groom, the lady working was very nice and considerate. She was able to squeeze me in on a short notice. The only complaint I have is the wait time but I'm sure that is my fault. To prevent this in the future I'll make sure to call a day ahead. The dog treats they had on sale looked great!! The lady told me to go ahead and come on in in an hour, and when I got there she was so nice!! The first thing she did was talk to Clifford and pet him and totally made him comfortable with her. I dropped my mutt off today for a bath and a shave and I HAD to upgrade them to 5 stars. I arrived for my early morning appointment and was met with smiles and a room full of happy dogs. They were all "talking" and socializing in their doggy ways and Mocha hopped in and made friends. Melissa was working and she was super helpful. I'm a mom with separation anxiety and she immediately soothed my worries by giving my puppy love and treats and assuring me she'd be taken care of to the fullest extent. And she was. As the day progressed, it became apparent that due to my insane work schedule I wouldn't be available to pick Mocha up. So I called Dirty Dog and arranged to have my mother pick her up and also pay over the phone for Mocha's haircut and bath. A measly $55 for my 120 pound mutt is a serious bargain. I was blown away at the price so when I came home to find she had received a phenomenal service, I was especially happy. I won't go anywhere else in town ever again. And I won't bother giving her a bath myself when their service is so affordable to have a professional touch on the bath, the shave and the nail trim. Thank you so much, Dirty Dog!! read more
