The owner is not law enforcement friendly. I respect the owner's right to not allow guns in his store. But it is shocking to me that he asked a law enforcement officer to leave when he was in uniform and trying to be a paying customer. Therefore, it is my right to shop with someone else that is more respectful. read more

I brought my bike in for a $85 "tune up" but all that was done to it was new tubes and brake pads. So after a couple days of riding the piece on the back tire breaks off and ruined the whole bike. I took it in and was told checking the chain wasn't part of the tune up?? Isn't the chain the main part? So I'm now it $85 and they refuse to touch the bike... I hate this place! read more

He enlightened me about features on bike I didn't know, a few products that might help make my bike commute to work easier - but NOT high pressure sales. They were really great and prompt. My bike was ready within less than 24 hours. They remembered my name when I picked up the bike and could tell me in detail all the adjustments made on my bike. Located in a strip mall, I was very very satisfied with the friendly and responsive service. We rented a couple of hybrids to tour Saguaro NP but they did not have a second. So Paul upgraded me to a road bike. The bikes were waiting the morning we picked up ready to go. The bikes were in fine shape and Paul/staff made sure we were all set. They offered the use of their toilet before we set off and also offered flexible turn -in timing. Fine, no-nonsense, competitively priced bike shop. I highly recommend if you need to rent. As a customer I am very impressed by the level of service Roadrunner bicycle offers. I recently took in my fixed gear bike to be assembled and my experience was very positive. The knowledgable staff are very courteous and professional. Prior to the assemble I was given a reasonable price and an accurate time to assemble my bike. My expectations were exceeded when my bike was ready. Chain was properly lubed. Seat-post included and headset properly aligned etc. After I picked my bike I was given a matching water bottle cage which completed the look of my bike. I didn't even buy anything or spend any money here but they were enormously helpful and friendly. My vehicle in disrepair, I needed a bike in a hurry so I purchased a cheap one hastily on Craigslist and, instead of going for a ride, I got taken for a ride. The bike was basically an amalgamation of mismatched and (so surmised the staff) stolen parts. It was barely rideable after a couple miles of use. They didn't have the parts to get me going but referred me to a place they thought could help after spending a good 20 minutes examining the situation. They also did so without a tinge of snobbery which you sometimes get from these types of specialty shops. No bike expert myself by a LONG shot--as you've certainly gathered by now-- they could have been condescending and dismissive. If I ever decide to spend good money on a bicycle or need a repair in the future, they'll be the go-to location. read more

Paul, the mechanic, overcharged me for a basic down tube shifter cable replacement. He removed the bearing, nut and washer from my original 1980s front brake callipers (which was not even included in the agreed upon repair) and did not replace them. He also chipped the custom paint job on my bike seemingly for fun as he was complaining that the bike had been repainted from its factory finish when I collected it after he had kept it overnight for a ridiculously simple fix that I simply didn't have the stuff at home to do after just having moved to the state. Only after getting it home did I notice that someone had peeled away part of the finish around the head badge with a palette knife to see underneath (he had mentioned to me how much it bugged him that the head badge had been painted over). These guys seem nice enough on first impression but I have never been so unhappy with what should have been a simple repair to my bike. Steer clear. read more

Sooo I have a story....... I have been going to Roadrunner since I moved here from Oregon last February 2013 . They had performed an awesome overhaul last spring on a Scott cross bike I had ridden into the ground. I was really impressed with their simple way of educating me by explaining what part of the bike was at fault and why, while not taking advantage of me $$wise. Then about a month ago on Dec 1st I was riding west on Tanque Verde when I got rear-ended by a car. I heard screeching tires then looked down to see a red bumper and was then flying through the air. As I was sitting on the curb surrounded by paramedics, one of them says to me "Your friends here! Would you like to talk to Elliot?" Elliot is one of the great employees at Roadrunner who had helped me many times since I have been a patron there. He had been driving by and turned around to see if I was okay and if I needed anything. What an amazing blessing and coincidence. So as I was put into the ambulance Elliot was loading up my bike in his bike ambulance and took it to the shop for me. After the crash and now dealing with insurance claims I was given sound advice from both Paul and Elliot. They sent an estimate to the insurance company promptly and made things really easy for a guy now spending most the day in bed healing. Upon receiving my settlement I felt the best thing to was to shop local and OBLIVIOUSLY with the shop who had my back. I'm a cross/hybrid bike type guy and that really isn't a huge market here in Tucson. Lucky for me Roadrunner is versatile and could meet my needs once again. Elliot steered me right and I took my 2nd ride yesterday since the crash on my new Fuji Feather CX It's a sick stealth matte black beauty with disc brakes and a smooth ride, very well suited for Tucson style (rough ass roads) urban riding with enough edge to take on the trails with grace. Elliot made a switch from a up to a 10 speed from the factory spec of a 9 speed and also took some pieces off my old bike I was still fond of and made my new bike to order. And he made sure I got my bike the day before Christmas. How cool is that :) Moral of the story is these guys are a great team and I highly recommend giving them your business. read more

I am newish to Tucson When I got here I decided to pick up cycling on a whim. I was driving down Broadway and just happened to see their store. It was the first place I stopped and it is the last place I will go. These guys do old school business. When I bought my bike they gave me everything that wasn't the bike that I would need to get home for free. To include a free mounted headlight. In addition to being proficient at their jobs and having a well stocked inventory they are interested in piping newcomers in to local cycling culture. They gave me a free copy of Tailwinds and a publication with all of GABA's (Greater Arizona Bicycling Association) organized rides. It is clear that they are all passionate about their respective forms of cycling and it comes through in their work. I can't say enough good things about Roadrunner Bicycles so I will just end this review with a five star rating and hope that cycling enthusiasts in the Tucson area find out for themselves that this is the best bike shop in Tucson. read more

I've been going to Roadrunner for about a decade, I purchased a nice PK Ripper and a comfort bike for my ex-wife. I've had bikes repaired and bought parts. Paul is usually the go-to guy and is always friendly and knows what he's doing. This AM I arrived at 9:55 and walked through the door, I was greeted by a female that yelled at me "We WON'T BE OPEN FOR FIFTEEN MINUTES!". Whatever, if the freaking doors are open, customers are going to walk through knuckle head! So I waited for 5 minutes and other customers started walking in and didn't get accosted so I figured it was safe.. She treated the two customers that were in front of me like they were an inconvenience, bothering her while she tried to do other non-customer related things. When it was my turn, I approached the counter and she said can I help you in a very indifferent tone. I said NOPE, you obviously don't want my business and there is no shortage of bike shop's, I'll just go pick another. She responded with "We JUST opened!" No shinizzle genius, I was standing outside waiting! Its not a customers fault you're not ready to do business when your doors are open. Be freaking early enough to do whatever it takes to get the store ready BEFORE the doors are open to customers. May go back someday, but depends on how the shop I took my bike to does on my repair... read more

There are several bike shops closer to where I live, but when my bicycle needs maintenance I drive the extra distance because these guys are the best. I took my bike here for a tune-up recently and Paul fixed a frayed cable at no extra charge. If they aren't busy, they will even fix your bike while you wait. Highly recommended. read more

we rented hybrid bikes for 2 days along with rack, helmets, lock. the equipment was fantastic, brand new literally. we were outfitted at no charge with multi tools, spare tubes, bags, and got advice on riding routes etc with the friendly staff. we stopped by and extended for a third day after our first day riding and were happy we did. the car rack and lock let us take bikes where we wanted on our schedule --made for a great vacation and we will do it again!!! thanks roadrunner! come see us in Missoula! read more
