I was having horrible back problems and couldn't remove the fork protector plate on my new bicycle. Jenna took no time to figure it out and appreciated the challenge! But of course I couldn't remove it when I got home. So the next day I returned and Linus removed it immediately and helped me put the front tire on. I can't say enough good things about this bike shop. They're amazing and I will use them for new equipment, every chance I get!! Our brand new, no pedal miles on the blix e-bikes would not power up. Transit Cycles was listed as an "authorized service provider"....and Jenna provide above and beyond service. We are traveling and were a bit hesitant to drop bikes off. Jenna did a quick look and asked us to leave the bikes. That was Saturday afternoon. Today, Sunday, Jenna emailed us about 1, that the bikes were ready to roll!!!!amazing. Jenna diagnosed a problem with the main cable harness was too tight and would disconnect the battery/power cable. She took the time to explain the issue and showed us how to fix if the problem again. I'm in Tucson for a work trip that required renting many bicycles. Jenna and Sebastian were so dang welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They gave us tips on the best places to ride. One of Tucson's best local bike shops with a nice collection of mountain, gravel, and touring bikes. They carry some of the familiar brands like Surly and Salsa but also cater to harder to find bikes like Esker. Saw a lot of unique handle bar and frame bags, water bottles, and hats along the wall that you can't pick up at a store like REI. Jenna and her staff are super friendly and ready to answer all your questions and offer helpful advice for your repair or purchase. It also doesn't hurt that they are located in the MSA annex, so you'll be near good coffee, drinks, and food when you stop by. read more

Took my bike to Transit after a minor scuffle with a car. They charged me $50 for a "crash estimate", plus quoted me $200 of other fixes. They did not disclose this fee in advance, so once I received the estimate it was too late. I had already been hit by a car--having to also deal with this was more annoying than the accident itself. I took my bike to another local shop and got it fixed for $10; repair estimate: $0. Thanks, Transit, for supporting the local biking community and taking advantage of us when we're down. read more

First time we visited Transit last week to buy some accessories, it was a five-star experience. So we went back a week later looking to purchasing either a regular bike or an e-bike. The dude was pretty friendly, helpful and explained the various options. Had we only interacted with him, it would have been great and even 5-star. But then the woman sales clerk kind of went off on Boomers in general and how they have "ruined" things by their alleged inconsiderate e-bike usage (or something). And even though we are part of the despised Boomer demographic, we tried to joke around about it to ease the tension. But all that did was make her even more cranky. I mean, it was no big deal. She wasn't outright rude exactly and she made some good points. And we weren't offended either. We've grown accustomed to ageist attitudes and stereotypes from a certain type of "Justice-y, self-righteous-y" millennial. She has a right to her opinion, I guess. (whatever). But her demeanor kind of left us unenthusiastic about dealing with them in the future. So, If you're a bike enthusiast millennial or younger, you will probably enjoy this place. But, I prefer to shop in more easy-going, good-humored and more senior citizen friendly places read more

Great local business! Transit is a great place to buy a bike, talk about bikes, or get your bike worked on. It's also just a great place to be in general, the MSA Annex has a ton of cool shops. Back to Transit, the staff is super knowledgeable, friendly, and they actually ride bikes. I can't believe how many specialty shops employ people that don't DO the hobby/sport the shop caters to. Here's the best part...you always feel the advice and recommendations are coming from people that just want you to have the best experience. I've NEVER felt like anyone there has tried to push me to spend money, or pick the more expensive option. Seriously, if you're into biking, or want to be, stop in at Transit. Jenna and Rogan do a great job, especially with people coming off The Loop needing urgent repairs on the fly. My seat stem was badly stripped and broke at the seat attachment. They dropped what they were doing and got me back on the trail in 20 minutes. While I was waiting they helped another customer with a similar urgent problem. What formed the deal to buy a touring bike here? It was a Jones H handlebar on a bike stem so I could actually sense the handlebar....quite different than seeing it hanging on a display wall elsewhere....plus....truly helpful and informative people, Duncan and Monique...who answered my numerous questions. Duncan talks bike parts, Monique encourages bike travel- great teamwork. I chose a Surly LHT with front and back racks, water bottle cages, and clip in pedals. Bike was ordered with input from me and details provided by them; bike was built; enjoyed my first ride yesterday. Service, product choice and details, great experience for me! I popped into Transit looking for a new bike and they couldn't have been any nicer or more accommodating. I don't know a lot about bikes but they helped me dial in what I was looking for and take a bike out for a test ride. Sadly they didn't have the bike in my size and I ended up buying it elsewhere. Believe me when I tell you they were so nice, and the service was so good, that I felt guilty for not being able to buy it there. I bought a new bike from Transit a year ago and from the decision-making and ordering process to the occasional service need have been super impressed with Transit Cycles. Duncan, the owner, is almost always there himself. He is super knowledgeable and willing to take ample time, helping me understand my bike and get the most from it (a souped-up Xtracycle with a Bionx motor, high-end dynamo headlight and other great features), explaining various equipment options, even educating me a bit about bicycle mechanics. Transit gets my highest recommendation! P.S. In case you are hesitant about riding through downtown, I've found it easy, even comfortable, much more so than I ever could have imagined. The bike lanes and signage are clear, the traffic moves slower than on major streets elsewhere, the streetcar has not been a concern, and there are enough pedestrians and cyclists that drivers are attuned. read more

This small bike shop has the best service. Their name says what they do - specialize in bikes for transportation (commuting). So if you want a mountain bike or high end road bike this is not the place because that is not their focus. But if you want a commuter bike or supplies for commuting (rack, saddle bag, headlight, etc) this is probably the friendliest place in town. It is owned and run by one guy (Duncan) who will give you the best service imaginable. I just had my bike tuned up (new chain, sprockets, etc). Delivered on time as promised and works like new. I also love their new location (across the street from old location) in the brand new Mercado Annex shops made out of repurposed shipping containers. read more

I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted, but knew some of the features that I needed. When Transit Cycles opened last month I was thrilled to have a place to bring my Linus Dover for a tune up (until they opened, Tucson was without a Linus dealer). It turned out that there was an issue with the hub and what I thought was going to be a simple tune up transformed into a much bigger issue. Duncan worked with the manufacturers to get replacement parts (at no cost to me) and then went above and beyond to make sure there was a back up plan should the part fail again in the future (hat tip to Linus and Sturmey Archer for excellent customer support, but especially to Duncan for making it happen). The Transit Cycles website calls it "500 square feet of bicycle heaven" and I can't think of a better way to describe it. Top notch repair service is just one part of what Duncan has to offer--everything from new commuter bikes to every accessory under the sun to cycling tips and advice, all located in the great space of Mercado San Augustin. second time I've brought my bike in, and I couldn't be happier!! it's a small shop so I never felt overwhelmed or out of place, even though I know nothing about bikes. the first time I went in I got my tubes replaced (with the quickness, I might add) and got a super cute water bottle (for just$8!). this time I thought I needed new tubes and tires, but it turned out I just needed air and a little strip on my front rim. so instead of paying what I thought would be $60 (or whatever...lol, I have NO idea what tires cost), I left paying just $13, AND he put my kick stand back on for free!! the whole thing only took ten minutes. I'm so impressed. plus I love that Transit is in the Mercado because everything there is just so adorable. so. if you need to fix your bike (or accessorize - he's got so much rad stuff in there!) you absolutely need to go to Transit. (Oh and if you can't figure out how to get in from the outside, there's an entrance off the interior courtyard, too.) ;) read more
