He refused to give the car back until getting paid for a job he did terribly. I have never known a business owner to be so childish, aggressive and full of excuses. They picked my car up directly from the spot in my parking garage and had it fixed within 2 days at a very reasonable price. I live in California and found RMB after a generic search. After reading the reviews I decided to try them. My daughter lives in Okemos. WOW! My daughter's car was towed in for an evaluation and I got a call from Rod the co-owner of RMB. Not only did he tell me what he thought was wrong with the car , but he said it in a way I could understand it, and quoted me a great price! I am an educated, professional woman, but I know nothing about cars and I am sick of auto repair places that tell you something that you can't understand and get condescending when you ask them to explain (" it's OK little lady I'll take care of it")....and dealers are cost prohibitive. When I told Rod I appreciated the fact that he explained everything in plain English that I could understand, he informed me that his wife Maria (the other half of RMB) was responsible for that. Maria made him call back a client and explain after she overheard him on the phone with the woman. Thank you Maria. So to get to the point of this review....I like this couple, the repairs are a reasonable price and very good. I walked out of the shop and felt as though I had been treated fairly.....and not taken for a ride. COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR BETTER SERVICE!!!! Seriously if I could rate this place 10 stars I would. The owners/employees are genuinely the nicest people and understand wherever you may be at financially in terms of levels of service and repair. I'm a soon to be college grad and when I hit a curb and realized the level of damage that had happened (and how much it would cost) I seriously started to panic, RMB was so open to working with me to figure out a solution that I could afford it definitely brought peace to my scrambling mind. They were transparent with what work would be done on the car and exactly how much it would cost, no hidden fees or schemes that you can usually find with auto shops. I found this place through Yelp and stand by all the great comments made about RMB on Yelp, they truly delivered, I have not had a better experience at any other auto repair shop. I want to emphasize speaking as a younger, female, college student this place is as legitimate as they come; they truly want to help you and not squeeze every cent you don't have out of you. I'm a college student at MSU and my car wouldn't start so I did some quick searching and found RMB. I called and he had a tow truck sent to me and then proceeded to replace my starter within the same day! So, first off, Rod completed the repair SO fast. I was shocked when I was contacted less than 24 hours after I dropped my car off to him. I didn't expect that I'd be able to even go to my family's Memorial Day weekend away up north because when I've dropped my car off at other auto repair shops, it would generally be a couple/few days before I got a call. But nope, less than 24 hours and my car is running great now! On top of wonderful service, he gave me an affordable price, and promised to not start working on anything without telling me the cost first. I was so relieved to find someone genuine like him, because I called a couple places before finding RMB and they made it sound complicated and gave me completely outrageous cost estimates, but of course told me it was the best deal I'd find... As a recent college grad with loans and not a lot of money, I was so relieved to find someone who wasnt trying to scam me into spending a lot more than I needed to. And he was so friendly and genuinely cared about my car. He explained what was wrong in a way that my mom and I, who have no experience with cars, could easily understand. It was friendly, affordable, quick, and quality service on an otherwise annoying engine to work with (I have a Ford Contour). Bottom line: don't spend your money anywhere else.
