(web site is www.lutherauctions.com) They are truly selective with what quality material they sell. You won't find total junk here. What differentiates Tracy Luther (the owner) from all other auctions is that he is way ahead of his time in merging 'entertainment' with 'auctions'. Yes, Tracy Luther is a true entertainer, and a knowledgeable one, and he puts up a great show each time. Buying with him is fun that way, and I bet that sellers of estates achieve much higher prices with him, because buyers there are prepared to pay for the high entertainment value he adds to his auctions. What is also enjoyable is how well organized his auctions 'flow', without any significant hitch and they are very fast. Tracy Luther is even successful with his staff, as I experienced when I coincidentally met someone online who had worked for him for years and still sang his praise extensively. Yes, his own people love working with him. And, as far as cost, he is relatively inexpensive, with a 15% commission to buyer in a time where many charge an absurd 20% for much less. Tracy Luther is an auctioneer who should be a model for all, but is unfortunately still the exception.

Based on both the written description and the photos provided, I had every reason to believe I was bidding on two boards. As an online bidder, especially one traveling over four hours from out of state for pickup, I rely heavily on accurate descriptions. This platform offers both shipping and pickup, so it is not unreasonable to expect listings to be at least reasonably correct. Upon arrival, I was informed there was only one board included in the lot. When I brought up the listing and description directly from their own site, I was told their "AI sometimes messes up," and that they "try to double check." That explanation is difficult to accept, given how clearly and repeatedly the listing referenced two boards. After I expressed my concerns, especially after spending hundreds of dollars, the staff consulted their boss and offered two options: accept a refund so they could resell the item, or keep the single board for the full price I had paid. There was furniture there for living and dining room that looked pretty good. I would certainly consider ReStore when I'm in the market for a dining room set. I am considering changing what I've got. We didn't interact with any staff, as it wasn't necessary. They all seemed to be friendly and were helping various customers throughout the store.

I found The Wicker Shop on Yelp when I needed to have a chair re-caned and did a search. I noticed…read morethat none of the reviews were less than five years old so I felt they needed an update. The Wicker Shop is a mom and pop operation and they do both repairs and sale of miscellaneous used and new wicker items. As stated in one of the reviews about 2/3 of the store is devoted to sales and 1/3 to the repair shop. The Wicker Shop doesn't appear to be a place which changes much. For caning a chair seat they count the holes around the rim of the seat and charge $ 3 per hole so you can estimate the cost your self at home. Expect a wait before your repair is completed as they have a back log. The chair I was having re-caned had been in our family for over 100 years and although not worth much had considerable sentimental value so I was ok with the charge. My wife used to cane chairs as a hobby and it requires a lot of effort. They do an excellent job and I highly recommend them for repairs.

He's been in business for decades so he must be good at it. I can also imagine it makes him tired of people's ignorance when trying to tell him the price. The best thing is he genuinely wants to help you get what you need. I couldn't find a piece for my pallet racking and he did everything he could to help me get it. If he doesn't have it he'll try calling others in the business for you. Business owners rarely act this way anymore.

I had an art deco lamp (see photo) which I rescued from being thrown out at my office many years…read moreago. The lamp has served me on my home office desk but recently the switch failed. I thought about fixing it myself but decided to hire a pro. Finding a place which restores old lamps which also had good reviews required some research but with the assistance of Yelp. I finally zeroed in on Lightworks. They did an excellent job of restoring my lamp. In addition to replacing the switch they also replaced the cord. They even found a plug which is appropriate to the era (see picture). They are not easy to find. They are located at the back of a rather large building with several tenants. Go north on 14 th Street from East Hennepin about 3 blocks until you reach Winter Street. Keep going straight across Winter on 14 th. It dead ends after about a block and Lightworks is on the left. In addition to repairs they have a nice selection of light fixtures which are restored originals or replicate vintage fixtures. Great if you have an older home. I highly recommend.
