That fee includes a whole house eval, which was then used to try to sell me every kind of upgrade possible. Since I paid the fee, I used the opportunity to ask about some electrical codes for things I'm considering doing myself, and there was no hesitation to price it out for me in case I wanted the work done. When it came time to present the potential options, they were presented as financing options--definitely a sales tactic to get me to commit to spending on these extras projects, which would have been triple the cost of the one thing I called them for. My idea of a good contractor is one that presents options with honesty and warns me when something is a problem, and this was opportunistic. I'd look elsewhere.

I ordered 3 Neena pendants (opaline glass and black metal) from Jenn who was knowledgeable, responsive and helpful. The pendants are made by hand and arrived in around 8 weeks (2 weeks earlier than expected). When installed, there was a broken part in one of the lights. After calling Jenn, sending her an email and photo of the damaged part, within an hour, the owner of the company called to apologize. He sent the new part 2 day air the next day and included a check for our handyman to return to finish the installation. The pendants are gorgeous and the company is a class act.

Found a women owned and LGBT hardware a 2 min's drive from my house. I pulled right up, they have street parking, walked in was greeted and assisted, but found my best service from the lady who rung me up. She gave me good information re: plungers. I never knew there was more than 1 type and she explained to me how you know the plunger is actually working and what happens when it doesn't - basically it pushes whatever is clogging the drain further down the pipe. Knowledge to someone who doesn't know these details are very helpful. Anywho, we had good dialogue about the neighborhood and the community had between the businesses in the Seward Hood. Support Jacks's Hardware, btw - Jack's is owners dog! There's a cute pic of him up at the counter. No pic's, as they have a sign saying No cell phones allowed and i wanted to respect their wishes.
