I just could not find what I was looking for. (Said Bono). Either the lights were too bulky or didn't fit my measurements. I could have strung a couple of sets together to run the length of my cabinets but then that would not have looked clean. That is when I found Southern Lights. They say the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Well have you driven south in the evening and see Southern Lights? We worked with Megan who was FANTASTIC! She educated us about the exact set up lights I was looking for. They have LED tape lights that you can actually cut to a custom length. Perfect! Those lights are bright enough to light up my kitchen yet are dimmable too. Megan also showed us some new electrical covers that are not your standard switches. We absolutely love these lights! We've been down to visit Southern Lights a few times over the years and most recently to check out their big tent sale. They have a huge tent sale in the Spring and in the Fall with lots of great deals. I would say if you can't find a light at Southern Lights, then it is just not available. If you need any lights, be sure to check out Southern Lights and be sure to say hello to Megan.

I've spent several visits just sat on a bar stool in the shop talking to Charles and Kathryn while Wes walks through and the new puppy tries to get into the showroom. They are lovely people. I've bought some plain pendants with 18 inch hand blown glass globules 'shades' that will cover two bulbs. Charles and Kathryn gave clear advice on all sorts of things while listening to what I was trying to achieve. Excellent. I've also commissioned them to renovate a standard lamp (circa 1920s) that mum and dad bought as a housewarming gift when I moved to Seattle in 2000. Charles and Kathryn loved this and told me that if it was being sold today they'd expect about to get about $2,500 for it. WOW, that's added a couple of zero's onto what mum and dad paid for it! Looking forward to the fixtures being made and arriving

I thought about fixing it myself but decided to hire a pro. Finding a place which restores old lamps which also had good reviews required some research but with the assistance of Yelp. I finally zeroed in on Lightworks. They did an excellent job of restoring my lamp. In addition to replacing the switch they also replaced the cord. They even found a plug which is appropriate to the era (see picture). They are not easy to find. They are located at the back of a rather large building with several tenants. Go north on 14 th Street from East Hennepin about 3 blocks until you reach Winter Street. Keep going straight across Winter on 14 th. It dead ends after about a block and Lightworks is on the left. In addition to repairs they have a nice selection of light fixtures which are restored originals or replicate vintage fixtures. Great if you have an older home. I highly recommend.

I found Jason, "The Fanman," through ChatGPT. I called and explained what was happening, and Jason immediately took the time to talk with me and explain a few things I could try myself. Since my fan is mounted high on the ceiling, I had to hire an electrician to take it down. Unfortunately, it wasn't a simple fix, so we shipped it from Oklahoma all the way to Jason in Minnesota. He repaired it, and they shipped it back surprisingly quickly. The total cost was actually less than I expected. This Casablanca fan is 34 years old and had never given us a single problem until now. We really didn't want to replace it, and thanks to Jason, we didn't have to. I probably called him two or three times during the process, and every time he was polite, helpful, and patient. His staff was great as well. If you have a Casablanca fan that needs repair, I honestly believe Jason is the guy to call anywhere in the United States. Heck, for all I know, he may even repair them from overseas--I didn't ask! Great service, fair pricing, excellent communication, and a successful repair on a 34-year-old fan. You can't ask for much more than that!

The part was purchased and sent but we had trouble doing the installment ourselves. We ended up after several lengthy phone calls returning the fan for their assistance. Both Jason and Jack were instrumental in the final repair and I am so very grateful for their expertise, patience and kindness throughout the repair process. An excellent conclusion to a repair story that doesn't happen that often! Thank you Fan Man Lighting!
