If you want an electrician who will "light up your life," give Norske Electric a call. I have used them in the past so I called them when our outdoor post light stopped working and the GFI it was on tripped and would not reset. I talked to a person quickly. I was able to schedule date and time that was convenient. They showed up on time. Diagnosed and fixed the problem fairly quickly. It turned out a wire on one of the switches had come loose and disconnected the power to the circuit. Problem solved. In the course of determining the source of the problem, they discovered another issue that was below Code. We added a 100 sub panel in the basement that was serviced with 60 amp wire instead of 100 amp wire. They gave me an estimate to replace the wire and to my surprise, they were able to do it today. They did a great job and we are happy and grateful that they caught this issue. Thank you. read more

I spoke with Rob and described my issue. We set up an appointment but before he let me go he asked a couple of things. I went to my garage to the electric panel and voila, what he had me do fixed the issue. He stayed on the phone with me while I went back in to see if the problem was resolved and it was. He save me hundreds of dollars because anybody would have just thrown on a new breaker and called it a day. Thank you for excellent customer service. The electricity to our exterior lights and doorbell quit working after we had sheetrock installed in our garage. Norske was able to get someone out on a Monday after I called over the weekend, that part was good. However, the technician was at our house from 9:30-12:30, 3 hours. He fixed the exterior lights which entailed tightening the wires behind the switch plate inside the house and replacing a switch inside the garage which had come a little loose and was corroded. This cost me $554. As far as the doorbell he could not find the transformer and could not find power past the door chime. His suggestion was to put a new wire starting at the chime, passing it through the wall into a closet, through that wall to the garage and wiring to a power source on that wall. His estimate to fix the doorbell was $978. I decided to get a 2nd opinion. I had another company come out 2 days later. This company was able to find a cut wire at the electrical panel, the wires had been cut somehow by the sheetrocker, the 2nd company rewired it to a new transformer that he added to the bottom of the electrical box. This wire was connected to the doorbell. Total cost $575, they found the problem and fixed it in 1 hour. They also found a live wire sitting inside the electrical panel that had not been capped. Unfortunately he got a shock from it. I don't know why Norske did not see those live wires, not sure if he even took the electrical panel apart. Because of the length of time it took out of my day, not able to resolve the problem like the 2nd company was able to do in such a short amount of time, I cannot recommend Norske electric. UPDATE: The owner of Norske Electric called me after my review was posted to express his concern over my experience with his company. We had a nice phone call and to make sure I was satisfied, he refunded the cost of the service call to my credit card. I appreciate his concern and that he reached out to me directly via phone vs text or email. Many owners don't bother to read reviews or shrug off a negative review. read more

I had decided that I could no longer tolerate erratic or non-functioning electrical equipment. In the past I would have done a bit of research and then taken care of the issues myself. For a variety of reasons, to do any work I now require professional services. Enter Norske Electric. I can see why DIY is such an attractive option to many tinkerers. The cost savings are considerable for relatively minor jobs. That said, I found Norske to be responsive, responsible and thoroughly professional. A few things on my wish list were estimated to be much more expensive than I had imagined and were postponed or eliminated. The remaining tasks were taken care of within an hour (they bill for the first hour regardless) and work well. The electrician that arrived was personable and efficient. Years ago I well knew my limits. I had planned to call in bids for more extensive, complex electrical desires. Based on my experience thus far, Norske is on my short list for any future projects. We had been putting off a generator install for several years as a terrific, trusted electrician we had worked with several times had moved out of state and we were hesitant to try someone else after seeing several cautionary reviews about bad service, sloppy work and sketchy pricing among some Twin Cities electricians. We were finally motivated to get this project done before winter and I found Norske Electric and their unanimously great reviews. The reviews are not hype. Andrew showed up right on time to do a walk through, gather information and provide a quote. He listened intently, was friendly and respectful (removed shoes without being asked) and was able to put together a quote in just a few minutes. I am a proficient do-it-yourselfer, had researched the project in great depth, and had a good understanding of what would be required in terms of labor and materials. The quote came back, literally within a few dollars of what I expected, and upon acceptance, the office folks determined that the equipment needed was on hand and Tim, a Master Electrician, had a window of time available to do the job the same day. He arrived inside an hour, (and also removed his shoes without being asked, which was greatly appreciated) discussed the project with me in a little more detail, then proceeded to complete the job as agreed to over the next few hours without any drama or hiccups. When done he explained the procedure for using the generator, then tested and confirmed everything was working properly. The work area was cleaned up meticulously and probably left cleaner than before the work was done. The final invoice was actually a few dollars less what was agreed to in the initial quote as they gave me credit for using a necessary part that I already had on hand which had been included in the estimate. We are delighted with the work Norske did for us, and also very happy to have found a company of such integrity. We would hire them again and recommend them without reservations. read more

We had lots of electrical work done in our house back in 2021 by another company. They were very expensive but we thought "you get what you pay for" and they said "we 100% guarantee our work." We were talked into doing more than we originally intended. We ended installing 2 ceiling fans, electrical panel box, fire detectors, and upgraded lighting around the house. We wanted Home Depot lights but the company assured us their lights were the best. We immediately had issues with the panel lights that were installed in our basement (ringing noise) and the company wouldn't fix or replace them even thought they just installed them. The electrician said if we wanted a replacement we needed to pay again for the replacement. Then one panel in our upper level started flickering and when we called them to come fix it but they wouldn't return calls. We decided we had to live with it because of the cost of dealing with it if we went to another electrician. The flickering eventually turned into a strobe light and we stopped using the room during the evening until we couldn't avoid it anymore. We finally called out Norske Electric and their electrician immediately diagnosed and fixed the issue, plus he didn't engage in any high pressure sales whatsoever nor did the company charge outrageous fees for the work. He felt badly for us that the warranty on work wasn't being honored. I really wish I had known about this company in 2021. I will be using Norske for all electrical work in the future. Brevik and his team were amazing. Had my 1960's one story rambler upgraded a bit. Replaced industrial looking florescent lights in my basement with some standard flush mounted lights. I received other bids which made the job sound really complicated. Brevik had a simple solution that worked in other homes and worked great in mine too. I found Norske Electric while doing a Google and BBB search of nearby electricians. I had my GFI outlets go out and had no luck when replacing them myself. I called their number around 830 a.m. on a Thursday morning and by 10:00 my problem was fixed. When I called, they were very helpful in answering my initial questions and addressing my concerns. They had someone in my area and, luckily, might have time to fit me in. In about 40 minutes, he called back to get my address, showed up in less than 5 minutes, and after about 30 minutes of work, my outlets were fixed. He was prompt, professional, neat, honest, and more than fair. I would recommend Norske Electric to anyone who asks. One Good Recommendation: Pay with cash or check. Although the cost was much less than I had expected, there was a 45 charge for using a credit card (the cc companies charge businesses). I was happy to give my electrician an additional tip on top of the bill to pay for his lunch. read more
