Though Jon did not perform the job himself the work was completed in a timely fashion and extremely well done.

We lucked out and were able to get our appointment moved up dues to some cancellations. The electrician on site was very thorough, provided us with detailed explanations and pricing was fair for the services offered. We'll certainly consider this business should we have an electrical issue again.

There was no up front quote prior to the service fee being charged, and while I expected I might pay a premium, it would up being over 50% more than another quote I got. I would consider the company itself to be opportunistic and somewhat manipulative. The service fee does not roll into the project itself as it would at a mechanic, but does make you feel committed to them. That fee includes a whole house eval, which was then used to try to sell me every kind of upgrade possible. Since I paid the fee, I used the opportunity to ask about some electrical codes for things I'm considering doing myself, and there was no hesitation to price it out for me in case I wanted the work done. When it came time to present the potential options, they were presented as financing options--definitely a sales tactic to get me to commit to spending on these extras projects, which would have been triple the cost of the one thing I called them for. My idea of a good contractor is one that presents options with honesty and warns me when something is a problem, and this was opportunistic. I'd look elsewhere.

The team was easy to work with, showed up on time, and made sure everything was set up perfectly before wrapping up. This is my second Yelp review for Randy's Electric because my first one mysteriously vanished. I…read moredon't know how or why, but based on everything I've experienced, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to bury negative feedback. Their Google reviews are almost perfect -- yet everyone I've talked to says the exact same thing: their real-life service does NOT match their ratings. Maybe some reviews are real, but certainly not all. Now for my experience, which was absolutely infuriating: Jeremy came to my home and quoted me $2,700 just to convert two lights into ceiling fans and replace one GFCI outlet. The prices they charged were beyond ridiculous: $300 for ONE GFCI $150 for a simple light switch $500 EACH for two fan brackets ($1,000 total) -- brackets that cost $23 retail That's not a markup. That is taking advantage of people. Their behavior was just as bad as their pricing. They show all prices on an iPad. When I was on the phone asking someone if this sounded normal, Jeremy literally snatched the iPad out of my hand the second I finished talking. He guarded that iPad like his life depended on it because he knew the pricing was outrageous. Completely disrespectful and incredibly unprofessional. I asked for an itemized invoice with real part numbers and real labor charges. Jeremy told me, "I'll email it to you." I still have nothing. The only invoice I received was written in vague "units" -- a convenient way to avoid transparency and hide price gouging. And the worst of all: They quoted me $19,000 -- yes, NINETEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS -- to upgrade my electrical panel from a split 60/120 amp setup to a standard 200 amp box. Other electricians quoted between $2,500-$4,500. Randy's Electric wasn't just high -- they were five to seven times the normal price. That is predatory and absolutely shameful. The owner even came out trying to justify the $500 brackets by saying they "add a yellow tag to every bracket." Later I learned that the yellow tag is just the manufacturer's tag that comes with the bracket. Nothing more. Another excuse. Another lie. Since this happened, I've talked to so many people -- and not a single person has had a positive experience with this company. Everyone says the same thing: overpriced, shady, rude, and preying on people who don't know electrical costs. Jeremy and the owner should be ashamed of themselves for the way they treat people and for the way they conduct business. It is absolutely disgusting behavior. Randy's Electric preys on the unknowledgeable, the vulnerable, and the people who genuinely need help. Their lack of transparency, their predatory pricing, and their disrespect toward customers say everything you need to know. If this review stops even ONE person from being taken advantage of the way I was, then it's worth writing twice -- because Yelp deleted the first one. I will NEVER use Randy's Electric again, and I strongly warn anyone considering them: Run the other way. Do not let them take advantage of you the way they did to me.

Yet, I told him I chose it from the "shower light" section of choices online at Home Depot. But Eric wanted to be sure, for safety purposes, that the light could tolerate a water setting. It had a symbol on the box which we both believed to indicate that, but he checked with Chris, his boss, to be sure that's what it meant. Chris approved it for installation. I appreciated his focus on safety and the installation did not take very long. I also appreciated that Eric was very personable and explained very clearly how this was a good choice for a shower light because it could be popped down a bit if there was a need to see above the light again, such as for another drain leak from above, as this situation had been. The cost may have been a bit more than if I paid someone else by the hour, but at least this cost by job included a trip fee and if it needed to take longer would not have cost extra. A very good service that I would use again.
