Since I paid the fee, I used the opportunity to ask about some electrical codes for things I'm considering doing myself, and there was no hesitation to price it out for me in case I wanted the work done. When it came time to present the potential options, they were presented as financing options--definitely a sales tactic to get me to commit to spending on these extras projects, which would have been triple the cost of the one thing I called them for.
