What looks like miles of the restored original floors (yep, original!), a remodeled stairwell that no longer makes it seem like you're entering your aunt's musty basement. This showroom for the home is open, bright and positively stunning. Roam is a store that won't please everybody, but it will please those with modern taste and a deep pocketbook. It would also be a good place to buy an interesting wedding gift if you have very posh friends. Between high-end imported furniture to... well, still very high-end local goods (Blu Dot), there's lots of room to browse here. I must admit that Roam doesn't quite roam into my budget or personal style. When the friendly owner (I think) began to explain some of the designers they carry, I wanted to stop her and say, "All my furniture is from craigslist, m'lady." Still, I can appreciate what they are doing here. In my brain, it roams more into the category of frivolity-that-might-actually-be-kind-of-awesome.

I've been to this location a few times to pick up frames and mirrors. They have a humongous selection of furniture. I haven't found any pieces I personally liked, but if you're looking for basic table stands, coffee tables, chairs, you're going to get a great deal here. Several months ago my boyfriend and I had been looking for really large gold mirrors with intricate details on the frame. I needed about 3, but everything brand new was at least a couple hundred dollars. I discovered this place and picked up 3 large beautiful, sturdy, quality mirrors for $90. They were sold individually, but I asked for a deal and they gave me one, no problem. I also found a 6 foot tall, 4 foot wide mirror for $40! Everyone loves this piece in our home and comment on how expensive it must have been. We came back here recently hoping for the same 6 foot tall mirror for our new bathroom. I planned on spray painting the frame to make it fit the design in the bathroom, but all of the ones they had left were damaged. The guy working there was really helpful. He checked in several different areas for potential mirrors and made a suggestion for us to switch a frame on one mirror to another that didn't have broken glass. He even asked the owner to give us a discount, $30 for both mirrors since they were damaged. Too bad for us, the mirrors were slightly different sizes and it didn't work. We ended up taking one with a corner that came undone, we just need to glue it back together. We took it up to the owner and he gave it to us for half off, it came to 17! You can't get a mirror this size for a better price! The worker helped us load it and pulled cardboard to wrap the edges to make sure we'd get it home safely. The people here are really nice and helpful. You'll find some great deals.

Holy. Hotel. Furniture…read more As a recent transplant to Minnesota outfitting a new apartment I wanted to furnish my apartment stylishly and cheaply. I scoured craigslist/furniture clearance stores for days on end and found some nice stuff-- but since I drive an Impala, it's rather impossible to fit anything in my car, and I found the furniture stores offered hideous products within my price range. But this place prices were AWESOME. Granted, stuff is used (with an occasional cigarette burn or questionable stain), it's no furniture showroom (Never have I seen so many couches stacked up in a room), and of course there are some glaringly UGLY pieces. Nice thing is--the quality is there (albeit you may have to SEARCH for it), the prices meet or beat Craigslist prices, and THEY DELIVER. I purchased a couch, end table, and nightstand for under $200 bucks with delivery and tax included. Not too shabby. If you don't mind sifting and doing a little extra inspection I would highly recommend Hotel Furniture Liquidators to anyone looking to purchase furniture for the first time without breaking the bank.

The store is run by a family who care about their customers & will look out for them. This place is a huge warehouse full of couches, living room furniture, beds, tables, and more. The stock on the floor is all brand new and at outlet pricing -- their stock fluctuates and is never guaranteed, so if you like something you better pick it up! You can check their facebook to do a little browsing but I highly recommend coming in to browse and sit in the furniture before you make a decision. One thing that really sold us on this place was the financing that was offered. It's something like 100 days with no extra fees to pay off your furniture -- after that marked date there's a pretty big markup. Here's the really nice part: the guy who owns the place will help you figure out if the piece you're looking at financing is a good financial move for you. He'll help you calculate what your monthly payments would work out to be and even advises you not to buy something if you can't pay it off within the time before the extra markup kicks in. You can tell that he cares about the customers and wants them to have a good experience. I appreciate that SO MUCH. We love our couch and actually just paid it off this week. It fits perfectly in our house - the store has measuring tape for you to borrow - and really elevates our living room. We paid probably $60-$80 for delivery from this location to St Louis Park. It was a no brainer. Delivery setup was easy and speedy. Just keep in mind that all sales are final and that their stock is here today and gone tomorrow!

Classic Retro has the rarest and the best mid-century merchandise in the Midwest, hands down!…read more My wife and I have bought from Pete and admired his finds since his shop was located on West 7th. Don't be fooled by the cluttered look and the eccentric owner. Classic Retro is packed from top to bottom with the rarest and the most beautiful mid-century modern items produced during the last century. After collecting for 20 years now, I can confidently say that you need to go to the West Coast, the East Coast, or (possibly) Chicago to find stuff as rare as you'll find in Pete's shop. This isn't Salvation Army, a thrift store, or one of the run of mill stores in the "Retro Loop". Be prepared to fork out some dough. Most items sell for hundreds or thousands of dollars. There are a handful thrifty items that are less than 100 bucks. But mostly, this is the best-of-the-best. Pete doesn't have stickers on most of his items. But his prices are fair. I've compared his prices to the same items (if I can find them) on Ebay or on 1st Dibs and he charges fair, "Minnesota prices", not crazy "Los Angeles prices". He also has a photographic memory. I'm not kidding. He'll tell you them same price a year later. And he'll also tell you the designer, the manufacturer, and the year something was produced--amazing! Thanks, Pete, for finding some incredible items over the years! -Daddy Maxx Retro

I was looking for some living room furniture, I didn't mind if it was gently used, I just wanted something that was in good shape for a fair price. When you shop at a consignment shop you expect to find reasonable prices but that's not the case here. I was surprised to see that the majority of the furniture is pretty expensive, especially for used furniture, so don't expect to get any deals here. Her prices are not much different than what you could find elsewhere except that you'd likely find better quality new furniture for the same or similar price. And in some cases for a little less. I didn't really shop around as much as I should have and that was my mistake. The shop owner was not very warm or friendly. That should have been my first indication to turn around and leave but I thought maybe she was just having an off day or something so I just continued browsing. I noticed a matching love seat and sofa set in the back of the store. They appeared to be in good shape and I liked the color and style so I asked the shop owner what the price was for the set. She quoted me just a little under a thousand for both. That should have been my second indication to leave, and yet for some foolish reason that I will never understand, I didn't. But I will readily admit that this was kind of an impulse buy for me. I had recently dealt with the loss of my husband and decided to treat myself to something new (to me) and different because I just needed a change. I completely fault myself for not taking a closer look at the quality of the furniture, or lack there of. The shop owner told me they were priced just a little above what she paid for them so I didn't want to start haggling, although in hind sight now I wish I would have because the furniture isn't worth anywhere near what I paid for it, but at the time I wanted to be fair because I figured she had to make a living too, right? *sigh* I came back the following day and purchased the furniture. It wasn't long before I realized I had made a huge mistake and wasted my time and money. The furniture is very cheaply made. The fabric snags easily and puckers, the back cushions are lumpy and the seat cushions slide around constantly. All of which is hard to see or notice when it hasn't seen much use and you only get to sit on it for ten minutes in a store. I take good care of my things so I was expecting to be able to enjoy the furniture for years to come but I quickly realized that's not going to be the case this time. I am so disappointed. Unfortunately I can't afford to replace it right now so I'm stuck with it for a while and I just hope that it will last for at least a few years while I save some money to buy something of better quality. Overall I think she does have some nice items if you are just looking for home decor but if you are shopping for an expensive big ticket item I'd advise you to think twice, do your homework, take the time to look very closely at what you are buying and most importantly make sure you are getting what you are paying for. If I'm going to spend that kind of money the next time I buy furniture I will be sure to shop at a reputable furniture store and buy new. At least they usually have some kind of return policy if you aren't happy with your purchase. Lesson learned. Buyer beware.
