What a trip! This shop is SO fun to walk around. I can't believe I haven't been in yet!…read more When you walk in, you'll be greeted by big taxidermied heads and gothic oddities from floor to ceiling. Truly, on this one I'll let the photos do the talking. There's so much to uncover here, many of which are a bit too spooky for my home decor but a blast to walk through! I didn't get anything, but my favorite items were the butterfly displays and the bug displays that had them in little mini vignettes like reading a book, smoking a cigarette, etc. hahah they were so darling and clever. Prices are steep but probably reasonable considering the uniqueness of everything here. If you're looking for a holiday gift for that quirky pal, come here! And even if you're not...you're gonna want to see this place.

I mean, what can you say about this place other than : awesome…read more a lot of taxidermy in here, but also a slew of other oddities you never knew you wanted. I could spend hours in here just looking and discovering things. This is really a place you need to see to believe. And take your time because there is something cool to see in every nook and crany. Need a stuff moose head? some old research beakers and such? A tiny puffer fish with googly eyes? A Jesus with a blond wig? Porcupine quills perhaps? A stuffed dancing goat wearing a tutu? Vintage photos? Assorted bones? Well, you can find it here. The staff is very friendly and more than happy to answer any questions you may have. They even know the exact origin of many of the items in the store.

Wow! This place has some cool stuff. I will be back for more. They had some things I've never…read moreseen before. Things I may not need, but definitely want. They also have lots of things I really do need. I took lots of photos so that I can think about some of the things that caught my eye. Also, the service there was first rate. I was very pleased and glad that I found the perfect desk chair before someone else bought it.

Love this place. Don't go there cuz you might buy something I want…read more I bought two Eames vintage chairs, a vintage stainless steel rolling cart so we can put stuff on it (coffee, liquor, food) and roll it around the house. I also bought two vintages designer lights and a couple pieces of glass labware to put cocktails in and put on the rolling cart to roll around the house (see above). I also bought a very cool looking gumball machine where you push down a little lever and a gumball comes out.** **I have put real gumballs and M&M peanuts in this thing and it has yet to spit out a gumball. It's pretty cool, though. OK, these guys have vintage cocktail glasses and shakers (do you see a problem here?) and more labware that I might buy. And a couple great vintage stands from a chemistry lab that has lots of clamps for test tubes. I'm trying to justify this one. My god!! They have two gigantic overhead light fixtures on rolling frames. If you live in one of those hoity-toity warehouses there is no excuse not to buy these. O, VINYL RECORDS YOU PEOPLE. SOUNDTRACK ALERT!! Endless Boogie was playing on their sound system. New favorite band. Ba-bump ba-bump ba-bump (Jaws) they are only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from about noon on.

If I could even call it 'work' more like 'an absolute joy' When I heard about your antiquification process and method, I must admit I was unsure...well, here we are, aren't we? So I had inherited an almost new bedside table from IKEA. I had the receipt and everything, the thing was about 3 months old. I didn't much care for it, to be honest and planned on giving it to Goodwill or auctioning it off. A Nepalese sherpa told me: "Hold that thought" while guiding me through his wonderful terrain. SO, upon returning to the US I called you guys up and 2 hours later I was witnessing a miracle. You made this IKEA table look 150 years old! I swear to Christ that it's a genuine antique now and I polish it 2-3 times per week, I use mayonnaise because I heard Celine Dion talk about how good it is to lather your antiques in mayo, she said this on the Oprah Winfrey show...and BY GOD, does it work. Something to do with the oil in the condiment. I plan on finding ALL MANNER of things around the house and having them antiquified...I've already bought TWO brand new things that I want to have antiquified to look EVEN older than the IKEA table. I wonder how far back you can go with this process! 5 out of 5 EASY, can NOT recommend enough Regards, - Sasha

I dealt with the same individual during a previous visit and was not impressed with her pretentious attitude. Since what I spend contributes to her salary, I will not shop here again.

I was really impressed by The Loft's selection of antlers, most of all. Antlers are the new owls…read more(and foxes are the new antlers, if the trend forecasting in my mind is correct). Like so many of these thrifty antique stores (some of them literally right around the corner, across the street AND next door to this place), The Loft so much bigger than it looks. The first floor isn't huge, but the basement goes on forever. It's just room after room of interesting oldies, but goodies. The woman upstairs was on the phone a lot, but she was still friendly. The guy working downstairs was helping someone move a piece out of the basement, but he still took the time to say hello. Kinda small, but appreciate that stuff. :) The specialty is clearly home-related merchandise, and I'd recommend checking The Loft out for furniture like credenzas, sofa tables, buffets, dressers and the like. There were a lot of cool options for that kind of furniture and all of it natural, beautiful wood and most of it in good shape. Also those antlers. Lots of mounted antlers of all shapes and sizes and most in the $50-75 range. The jewelry that I saw wasn't anything special and I didn't see much in the way of clothing aside from a few coats and fur stoles. The prices were moderate. I picked up a couple of items and was surprised at the higher-than-I'd've-thought expense, but mostly moderate. [I'd've=probably not a word.] In addition, I overheard a woman buying set of silverware haggle mildly with the shopkeeper and they knocked 10% off. A good reminder to me that it never hurts to ask for a better price at an antique store!
